Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, RU-vid and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!
I am also a musician! My newest release is my first single (original song) called "She's Mine" which is now available on all streaming services - I sing and play piano, guitar, ukulele and I write, produce, mix and master all my own songs and content myself!

I suffer with absence seizures since around 6 years of age I’m now 23 and haven’t met another person with them it’s nice that your showing people because if I mention it I feel like someone’s going to think I’m either faking or not listening or spacing out and I get scared like people think I’m using it as a excuse 😂 nice to see it being put out there not all epileptics are up the floor having convolutions (although I do have grand malls too)

My 9 year old daughter has many types of epilepsy, but the absences are the ones we see the most. Can u explain how you feel when it happens so we can understand her better? (She has ASD &finds it difficult to explain) x
@zacharyhightower9062
@zacharyhightower9062 Год назад
@@EyedontjudgeI have generalized idiopathic absence epilepsy with seizures and have had them for about a decade. They’re really wide-ranging in how they feel, and everyone feels things differently (so take this with a grain of salt) but here are MY most common types (these aren’t medical terms, just things I tell family and friends to help explain): Full Seizure-you’re fully unconscious, it doesn’t rly feel like anything. (Think a record skipping) Full Myoclonic seizure (seizure with small jerks)- same deal but with soreness from the repeated movement Half seizure or discharge-you can’t control your body but you’re still semiconscious. Sounds and feelings filter in, but they’re hard to put together. Cluster- a bunch of seizures put together. Can be really debilitating. Dizziness, fatigue, and sometimes even losing the ability to read are common for me. I like to describe my brain like a sequined pillow. W/o meds t the world feels disjointed and hard to focus on (the sequins standing on end) but when I eventually take them my thoughts smooth out again.

*⚠️WARNING⚠️* This is long ash but… I have seizures as well but I have grand maul seizures, which is the same as a clonic seizure. Basically your body, arms, and legs will contract, extend, shake-a *clonic* period (contraction and relaxation of the muscles), followed by the postictal period. During the postictal period, which results in being sleepy, having problems with vision or speech, and may experience a migraine, fatigue, or body aches. From my knowledge (because I never remember anything a little before or after I have them). I have them and then wake up idk how long later, once was about 2-3 days when I had my first ones since I was around 3 due to high fever. A few times I believe I was only out about an hour or so. The first time I had a seizure since then was I think in March last year. It happened when I was driving home after a little argument with my then girlfriend at the time and was on the road below my house right up a hill to the left. I crashed into someone’s parked car and totaled theirs and mine. I woke up in the hospital in a *DIAPER* around 2-3 days later (I don’t remember😅) and I didn’t have a single scratch or bruise on me thank God🙏🏽☝🏽❤️‍🔥. However they said when I woke up in the ambulance that I was confused and started fighting them, it took about 3 of them to hold me down and strap me in😭💀 I guess I thought I was getting kidnapped or something and was *NOT* having it😂 later found out in the hospital about everything, and also that they had to take my license away for 8 months and said I couldn’t join the military for 8 years😭 some bs if you ask me. And what would trigger your tics if you don’t mind me asking?

If you find your focal seizures are interfering with your learning (and you are in the US) you can request reasonable accommodations such as a note taker or record lectures under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Zara, When I see this my mind starts thinking!!! I don't have anywhere near the same problems, but when back in school I would feel like I was in a tunnel and zone out. I think you do the same, but to a greater magnitude! My idea is something that may pull you out when you think you are drifting. Make a card with 10 numbered dots. When you feel an episode coming on, pull a dot card out and draw a line connecting those dots in order. See if focusing your mind on something else for a short time SNAPS you out of it? Kind of realigning your mind. You could make 10 different cards so you don't know what to expect on the dots. You could also change it up by connect the even numbered dots and then do the odds or just one or the other. The main thing is doing different things so your mind isn't doing something repedative!!! Just throwing out ideas! -Jim
