Why isn’t LinkedIn enough? Why do I have to have a resume in 2023? Does ATS score my resume at all? What information does ATS parse? What is the difference between Greenhouse Vs ATS? What does the employer see? Sorry for all the questions ... but ATS is driving me crazy!!! Appreciate all that you do, Amy!!!
My understanding of people's general gripes about ATS's was concern about getting automatically filtered out based on too restrictive/dumb logic, that isn't able to understand and interpret the real world skills and experience presented on the CV that shows they are a qualified candidate. Great, albeit simple example, is filtering for only exact matches based on a particular programming language when there are several languages that are extremely highly transferrable and having that language on your resume doesn't necessarily make you best candidate. Add overly particular requirement 1 and overly particular requirement 2 until the list of checkboxes is basically down to 2 people on earth. Great video, though. Thanks!
The big question I hope gets answered is what happens after resume upload? Having watched all your videos regarding the ATS, all I'm privy to is the surface-level functionality. The discrepancy for me happens at the point of submission. Does our resume even make it to the system? Of the many many applications sent I'm inclined to believe "not always".
if you completed the application and hit submit, it's in there. I'll do a deeper dive into this in 2 wks (next video is about job creation) but unless you didn't submit it, there's no good reason for it NOT to be in the system. Feel free to share more about the discrepancies you're seeing and I'll try to sort it out!
Hopefully it helps the applicants. but the Job description is exaggerated so even if I created perfect resume it will be a lie to fit the exact Job description and ATS . its kinda impossible and all companies have specific requirements you can't find it 100% in any candidate.
I hear you and all I can tell you is that I have historically worked for OFCCP compliant companies - that means I CANNOT move forward with any candidates who do not meet 100% of the BASIC qualifications or minimum requirements. Part of our job is making sure those are fair, accurate, and realistic so we can actually hire people :)

What business unit they belong to? what kind of recuiters are espeicialized in this and how to find them "usaual keywords" in linkedin ?
Understanding how hiring happens seems like it might be beneficial to some folks 🤷🏼♀️ more importantly I hope that this eases any fears or misconceptions that certain kinds of people use to sell services a job seeker may not need.
