The results of all of the work put in to this build has finally paid off! Today we finally install this powertrain and start the zero mile engine for the first time!
I've got a little something planned for when we reach the 1000 sub mark, so help us get there and we can start giving back to you guys!
Thank you all so much for your time.

Just watched all the videos on this 80. LOVE IT! I have a purpose built Jeep rock crawler (see profile pic) and found a 97 LC tripple locked that I am now doing resto. There is NO caomparison to the LC period! I am doing all the work on it. I have a 4Runner, GX470, 97 LC and the Jeep. '14 4Runner = moderate 4x4, '04 GX470 = moderate ++ 4x4, '97 LC = moderate ++++ 4x4, CRAZY build '20 Jeep JLUR crawls up walls. Every vehicle has a purpose, approach and departure angles, breakover and such all matter with what you are doing. BTW, my LC will do 80% of what I have done in my Jeep. If I built them equally, they'd be the same ... except the top doesn't come off! 🤣

Thanks man! Yeah I am very impressed with what this can do, definitely one of the vehicles that deserves the hype imo. Impressive fleet, I seem to be collecting more and more as well 😂

Really good video It's nice to hear about facts and actual costs rather than all the conjecture so many other land crruiser centric youtubers are babbling about. I mean who cares about bumpers and light bars when there are 25 year old hoses, seals, and bushings that are ticking time bombs all over the vehicle. Also I'm pretty sure you confused a bunch of people when you talked about going to the auto parts store to borrow a timing light to set initial timing after the rebuild.
@motor.mausGarage
@motor.mausGarage 6 месяцев назад
Thanks! Yeah unfortunately doing maintenance doesn't quite sell as well as bumper and light bar affiliate links do 😂. I'm all for modding whatever you got, but some things should take priority over others lol. Using a timing light is definitely not very common anymore, but it'll save you a lot of headaches if you know when and how to use one lol.

It is easy to nickle and dime yourself with any rig. I think the biggest problem that almost any vehicle in America has is after the vehicle goes out of warranty, people stop doing preventative maintenance. I have several 80 Series and my nicest is a 97 Lexus LX-450 with less than 200k on it. Originally garaged the entire time, but at some point it is obvious the older people that drove it stopped doing anything but change the oil and brakes it. Not that it was in bad condition, just that I have had to do a lot of preventative maintenance on it. I have probably $3k in replacing the radiator, hoses, belts, lights, blades, seals, etc... Then last winter something went to crap with the front axle, so that is going to be another $1k fix to do it right and rebuild the axle. In the end, it really comes down to what you want and people are right in the fact Toyota is not going to bring back the 80 Series. I'm curious what the new Land Cruiser is going to be, but I bet it has independent front suspension. I also bet that it is going to be more expensive than people want to buy for a wheeler, so it is going to be interesting. I'm guessing the 80 Series will just keep going up in value.

That’s funny you mention the high pressure power steering hose, because that’s the only non OEM part I’ve installed as well. No point in buying a $300+ hose for one that’s the same for $130

23:00 There are exactly two brand new alternatives to a fully rebuilt 80 with all modern everything like in this video, and they both pale in comparison. 70 Series. with it's 90's everything anyway and leafs in the back that aren't even inline with the front and aren't even available in the US. Jimny, which is around same price as your build. When it comes to things like usability, comfort and off road ability from factory, is there anything that beats an 80?
@motor.mausGarage
@motor.mausGarage Год назад
I should have specified for the US, unfortunately we get the watered down version of just about every 4x4 and Japanese tuner car in existence 😂

Did you have issues with the wire inside the original harness getting corroded or something?
@motor.mausGarage
@motor.mausGarage Год назад
What happens on these harnesses is that over 20 years or so, the connectors become so brittle that in the process of removing them, they break, which was the case with about 90% of the ones I removed. I should note that you can probably find the individual connectors separately, but to be honest I didn't feel like tracking all of them down 😂

Mentioning Wits end and trustworthiness in the same sentence is a joke. He takes your money and then disappears without delivering the goods. I know like hell I wouldn’t want him holding my vehicle
@motor.mausGarage
@motor.mausGarage 11 месяцев назад
I will admit, if you want something quick, wits end isn't the place to go, however so far I have gotten everything I've ordered from him that didn't have a super long lead time. I kinda knew what I was in for with some of the specialty items he makes, so in that regard I'm alright with the lead time, but I do understand where the frustration comes from. Either way, discourse about this is always welcome on my channel, and I think the consumer needs to be aware of what they are signing up for with wits end, so I do appreciate you bringing this up!

@@motor.mausGarage wits end / joey stole 3k from me. 4 months, nothing. he was getting the parts from the warehouse in Portland. I just ordered from my local dealer, gave me the same price and none of the hassle.
