I have my own computer shop. Selling and fixing all kinds of stuff. I have a master degree of electronical and electrical engineering. I study this about 10 years. But nothing can prepare you for the real life. Most of the thing are learning on the way. I learn something new every time you upload a video, for which I deeply thank you. The main thing for own business is not the skills, but the attitude for the costumers. You have to be fair with them, that is the main rule, if you ask me. :)

@@josephmelville1 the school learn you the basics things, like how the caps and resistors works, how to read simple schematic or so. I douse not learn you how the charging circuit of a laptop is working, or how to diagnost the failure in a laptop. It all comes with experience and everyday learning.

I started my own shop recently. Yesterday I had a customer bring me two Alcatel phones, one with severe water damage, the other with a completely mangled screen, hoping to piece together a working phone from the parts. As I was pulling off the network antenna, the connection on the board came off! Thanks to what I have learned from you, I was able to resolder the broken connection and save the phone from the scrap heap. If I make it on my own, you will deserve much of the credit. Thank you. You are truly a wonderful person, and an inspiration to folks like me.

Sorin. as usual a very good video. I loved your story about your past in Roumania. My son just sent me a link to a story in today's Guardian newspaper that Britain has more billionaires per capita than any other country. Of course not all of them are Brits. I have read on your videos in the past that you were concerned about Brexit . You should not worry regardless, as you have a great attitude and an abundance of skill, just what we need here, there and everywhere. Brexit is every difficult and one hell of a mess right now. I found your comments very interesting on how you found things in the U,K. It is a very unique place in some regards, I say this as somebody like you who moved abroad for another life. I was trained in the U.K. and went to the States and did very well. My children were born there and have returned here and both of them finding training and success. Thanks Sorin and all the best for the up coming holidays.

The important thing is to do the job and in failures be honest, preferably before something is destroyed, or find another who can do it instead of oneself, so the business location seems able to do it and the customers come back and it spreads to more people. Any business is mostly social as skill/knowledge doesn't have to stay with only one. With RU-vid/internet a person became "more people" than oneself and it helps.

Hello there, This is one of the best videos ever posted by Mr Sorin, not only he is a great repair technician but also a real life mentor, i started by business two months ago, not doing so good at the moment by i feel great, i gain more confidence in repairing new things everyday, and that alone opens my eyes to new ideas- horizons -, and like you said, running a business is a journey, maybe it's not only about the end result (money in this case), fixing stuff people are attached to makes you feel you are contributing something good for the benefit of your community. So this video came at the right time for me, Thank you sorin for your help and honesty, we have a saying here where i live " whoever helps his brother in his time of need, God will be there in his time of need" Wish you all the best Thank you

Best video so far. True stories are very important. The financial crysis in Brazil in 2014 broke me like what happened with you. But we learn from our mistakes. Money its not the most important thing. Once you need to manage people, their expectations, business administration and loads of things that have nothing to do with your skills.

I used to fix everything electronic, 30 years ago! That was before Surface Mount Devices took off, myself and a long lost freind repaired items for 3 different outlets in the Scottish Highland city of Inverness. Your channel has filled in a few very important blanks regarding SMDs. A hot air gun and some Rosin Colophony solder are on their way here so that I can do your liquid flux trick. Great info. There is a woking laptop with both hinges broken in the lid abandoned on the shelf behind me which I will now tackle. Adventures with hot glue hahaha. I had to give up on a PS4 with a broken HDMI connecter and a few other pieces of equipment with similar Mosfet devices which are surely the problem

Sorin you're absolutely right when it comes to economic impacts. Nobody wants to fix anything when money is tight... not consumers... not industry... especially not those with the money. I started my business on "9/11" 2001, literally. The economics in the US were already in a slump... but, the downturn after "9/11" hastened the demise of many US industries. Even "healthy" factories put off repairs when demand is low! I had the "great advantage" when I started my business... my customers having used my services for over 10 years. But when factories are closing and moving, the rest layoff employees, capacity, and unfortunately repairs. It's a little harder to enter into industrial electrical/electronic repair. In addition to the skills you'll need certificates, licenses, and often $1,000,000 dollars or more of insurance. And yes, sometimes even your test equipment must be traceable certified . Meaning... you need two of everything.. so you have one to use, while the other is sent off for calibration. The additional cost are hard to bear when business is slow. Needless to say, after 2 years I had to move to a larger city... and find an employer. Sorin, even with my 40 years experience... I still learn from your tips!

Sorin, your story is really moving, I almost could not hold back my tears. What you are doing was also one of my dreams. Unfortunately I had to go into a teaching profession and later decided to be with our three young daughters as much as I could. I am also a family man. That was quite a long time ago and I have since retired. Now I'm learning what I did (could) not do when I was younger. As one of your first viewers I have watched all your videos. None of your repairs is boring, they are all very informative and even entertaining. Thanks a lot for your effort to share your expertise and especially your unconventional way to make things work. In the coming days I'm going to replace that bulged cap of my cheap DVD-player, because I have only a green blinking LED and nothing else is working. Hopefully I can get a replacement and hopefully I have made the right guess.

In the United States in 1929, we had the Great Depression where practically everyone was out of work and or on the bread lines in the cities. A lot of good hard working people starved during those times, and it was the result of poor policies enacted by our government. If the governments of the world just let free enterprise work and get their boot off the businesses collective necks, then people would prosper. Your story sounds very similar to mine back in the 90s.

O seara frumoasa, week end placut. Ne vedem la urmatorul clip. Cu respect!

I was fair with everybody. But I did close the shop. You must have a good closing contract for repairs. And test it good before you’re taking the goods for repairs. The customer will kill you if they can. They have done it by me. Repair the brand new iPhone screen but the button is broken it’s my fault they saying and you have to replace it for a new working one. It’s a lot of money 💰 to buy a new iPhone. I had to repair the things for 14 day and no income to pay for the iPhone. This is happened to offend to me so I trust the costumer no more. So now I repair things for hobby and if I can pay the shop tools set and find a nice place I will be open again. Thank you for your time and nohow we learned a lot and still doing.

hi thear. live in Greece. That says it all. I am electronic engineer and now about 48. I had a good repairing company for about 12 years. Was good. Greek consumers have the tence to buy a new pc or laotop or TV rather to fix them. Someone put on their heads that doesn't worth any repairing unless if it is a car. lol. Anyway that myth i wanted to brake. So my company worked on that idea. Everything worths a second chance si please bring it to ergodata ics to fix it. I started with this bussiness alone . At the half othe first year I had two young employee at the service section. Ib first of crisis in 2010 had 14. Keep them all as a team till 2014. Couldn't afford to pay them. At the end of 2016 I was alone again and couldn't afford even me with all these taxes, insurance coverage and all. On june of 16 closed my bussiness. Now iam officialy uneploement and just work as a freelancer again in repair bussiness. But the money gaining of this job ia not enough. so at the evenings work in restaurant as waiter. Anyway keep up good job dude.

A fantastic video, Sorin. Really nice to hear your personal story with your own businesses back home in Romania. You were definitely young, ambitious, and successful. You were certainly a driven man back then. Wow! Nice to hear about your team and how everyone came together. Very cool! I enjoy these longer videos where you tell us stories of the old times. And watching you reflect on the history of the Nokia was really fun. Your face lit up like a kid. Was great to watch and listen! Do you want to return to Romania one day or who knows?

However, know that you are now working for them and serving those who were responsible for your destruction, and think well what that is called.

If you do not have electronics knowledge how can you test components with a multimeter? How without knowledge we will know how to test a circuit especially if there are several breakdowns ... I think that basic and advanced is important. You are my teacher when I have worries or my head does not work anymore lol ... but there is a breakdown much more complicated than you do not show in videos. I will open my own business soon I will need help, advice to start well, information on parts to buy can you help me Mr Sorin? I repair computers, laptop, PlayStation, smartphones and others... I live in Mauritius, here there are poachers who make repairs and many customers are dissatisfied, I often repair devices that other shop destroyed, I think just this kind of work because I have no shop I work at home at the moment and I intend to open my business in electronicsI live in Mauritius, here there are poachers who make repairs and many customers are dissatisfied, I often repair devices that other shop destroyed, I think just this kind of work because I have no shop so I work at home at the moment and I intend to open my business in electronics.

I disagree Sorin about getting stupider as we go through life. I think we get smarter with age, but our minds aren't as sharp. If only I knew what I know now and had my sharp mind of my 20's.
