I think they do but just like the military's mental health facilities they're skewed towards the team and getting the person ready to participate as quickly as possible rather than helping the person.
Yah know, that sounds like the guy is just doing what he loves, and being with those that love him. Doesn't sound so bad after all, especially since his goals were met!
Was a grade higher and played against him in highschool. He was definitely on a mission, ran like a man possessed. It all makes sense looking back now, glad he didn't quit in college.
@@DeadlyDanDaMan I see what you are saying for sure, but in some ways that would also make it hard to walk away in my opinion. He left a lot of money on the table by taking the path he did. I know that would be hard for me even if I did have a bunch of money already. The good thing for Lacy is that he doesnt seem flashy or roll with a huge entourage of hangers on, so the money he did make should be enough for he and his family.
AHHHHHHAHAHAHAH!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂OMG!!! I literally SCREAMED out loud and laughed hysterically reading this comment!! Marshawn Lunch??? Feastmode??? I can't!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thing is, people are really in love with their clever comments. And I can appreciate that. If I think of something funny...it's goin' up. It isn't meant as a serious argument or an emotional dagger or an attack. It's just people showing off "Hey! Here's a funny thing I thought up!" That's usually all it is. (I know some people are pretty damn nasty, but not most, not really) Eddy feeling wounded by all that "negativity"? Bruh, he was doin' it wrong.
I’m from St Amant the rival school of Dutch town Lacies school and the way he cared and was nice to my sports med teacher who is from his school but she could tell he didn’t hold back from anything like he had a addictive personality
I just got to say, I work in the therapy field as a counselor, therapist.. and I am wildly impressed with your ability to look deeper into the psychosocial issues some of these players have to contend with. This makes your work even more valuable. Alright, Im a Pack fan, cant help it, I was raised in Milwaukee. I cant wait to watch this.

So many people made jokes about Lacy's weight his whole career. This is the first video I've seen that looked at it from a psychological perspective. Really well done dude.
As a Packers fan, you forgot the most memorable quote ive heard in reference to Eddie, said by Mike Daniels during the NFL’s Top 100 back when Eddie made the list. He said, “Eddies one cheeseburger away from having his hand in the dirt next to me”, hahahah! I actually laughed.
He did more as a football player than most people do in real life who suffer with the same addictions .I'm very proud of this guy .the only disappointment that I have in him is that he invested too much into what people say .people are pieces of s*** never hang your hat on what another man that is less than you has to say about you
Yea man its sad that so many people out there get joy out of making someone feel like shit. Especially when you could tell his feelings were smashed and he was at an all time low the scumbags went even harder at him destroying what confidence or pride he ever felt . Alot of people that dont have weight issues dont understand how hard it can be to stay in shape. He could have tried a bit harder but its pretty disgusting how many heartless dirtbags are out there. I just hope hes happy in life. It seems like his family is real close and thats really all that matters.
Dude, Jerome Bettis had more jelly rolls than Krispykreme and he still had a hall of fame career. Piss on the mans weight. Give him the damn football, watch him truck some people, and shut the hell up. Coaches
6ft 2hunnid go listen to burger king foot lettuce guy and come back and tell me how annoying his voice is compared to this guys. it won’t be so annoying anymore
Man, Eddie Lacy was an absolute BEAST when he was in shape. He was unstoppable at Alabama. He had the best spin move I’ve ever seen- and he was a pretty big dude (not fat, just big).
as a Vikings fan, I saw Eddie Lacy as the real deal. I'm glad he's not thrashing our defense anymore but man, he had so much potential to be great. such a shame bro
He probably had a better chance of being a top nfl rb than other bama rbs have but u notice most if not all rbs since mark ingram don't live up to the hype. Mark ingram lack of production only 1 or 2 thousand yard seasons. Trent richardson flamed out fast. Lacy had talent but gb not helping him maintain weight hurt him. Tj yeldon average at best
I was just talking about Eddie Lacy with the guys at work. Crazy. Wicked talented dude. Internet bullying is real. Atleast he got some money to get his family a house and take care of them. P.s. I'd like you to do a story about a little known RB for the New England Patriots a few years ago. His name was Jonas Gray. He had some big games. One game he was over 200 yards rushing and 4 TDs.
McCarthy destroyed Lacy's confidence. Packers kept trying to run a two back system, which would screw up the momentum. Lacy would get them down the field to the red zone then suddenly it'd be Starks off the bench. Lacy would sometimes end games with 12 touches. No one wanted to tackle him. If run as a feature back he could have defenses worn down by the 3 or 4th quarter. I think not being played as a feature back when he was one hurt him. It was well documented Lacy suffered from PTSD and depression from Hurricane Katrina before the draft and he ate as a coping mechanism. He did everything the Packers asked him to and ultimately he's got to be responsible for himself; however McCarthy's old school attitude was really outdated and wasn't helpful. McCarthy would force guys into his system and if they didn't work according to his vision you weren't playing. In contrast to Belichick; who plans to his players strengths. You could tell the relationship was bad, then Eddie started breaking curfew and so on. He had the potential to be an all time great, but also that's up to him. Didn't really seem Lacy wanted to play anymore.
@@Mraquanetchris PTSD from Katrina? He wasn't even IN Katrina!! Did you not watch the video? His family left before it hit. His family wasn't poor bruh. Eddie was a VERY privileged child. Don't get it twisted. Eddie didn't grow up poor and he didn't live in the ghetto.
@@DeadlyDanDaManIf you watched the video you’d realize that he was still affected by Katrina since the only home he’d ever known was destroyed. That would clearly make a difference🤡🤡.
FlemLo you are such a good dude, very empathetic. You should be a therapist bro, not being sarcastic. You are really good a putting yourself in other people's situations and finding positive. I really love your content. Keep telling the story and not just shitting on these guys like the rest of the internet.
Damn. One of those times you said "I get it." about something that was actually pretty non-intuitive, I realized "That's why this guy is so good. He doesn't just get the easy stuff, he gets the stuff that most people would dismiss with a judgement that supports their own preconceptions." Been bingeing your stuff this AM, and very impressed. Thanx for the excellent work you do man.
I've struggled with weight issues my entire life. I can't speak for Eddie, but I know the worst thing ever for me was feeling like no matter what I did, I'd always be relegated to 'the fat kid'. Even when I got down to 10% bodyfat, I still felt like one. Body image issues are just as bad for dudes as they are for chicks, maybe even worse because the moment we say anything about them everyone just leap on for the kill. Glad to see he's found his happiness, lot more important than any game
it keeps yu humble tho which is gold in this modern world. not a negative thing. women should just learn to be more humble instead of tryna take shortcuts like pushing "fat is beautiful" agendas and do something about it like yu (or me) if they don't like it.

@Ivan Juarez yeah every now and then it's genetics but MOST of the time it's poor decesion making when it comes to food and the lack of activity. Eddie lacy has already proven that he can lose weight if he wants to it but that's the issue. He doesn't want it bad enough. To each their own though
I’m going through the same shit. I went from 315* to 210 . People tell me I look lean but when I look into the mirror i feel like I’m still fat. Which apparently I’m not
Eddie's a very sensitive person with a unique ability to understand the feelings of others on a deep level...this is why negativity drained him. Eddie is an empath, a rare powerful personality type.
As a diehard Alabama fan I have nothing but love for Eddie. I’ll never forget that spin move he had, it was just something special about the way he pulled it off. Hopefully he’ll find happiness either with another shot at the NFL or in some other avenue that provides peace of mind. Thank you for the memories!
I played Julio Jones when we were in high school. Mind you I’m not going to give you a uncle Rico story claiming I was this football God, but I was 6’ 240lbs in good shape and fairly agile. Well I was covering on kickoffs because he already burned us once and coach wanted experience on the field because we used the young pups usually. Long story short I had Julio with the sideline being my friend expecting a skills position player to just trot out of bounds, quite the contrary he ran me over like I’ve never been ran over. I think part of it was not being fully engaged because he was close to the sideline, but mainly it was because he was a grown man amongst boys so to speak lol. These guys even on the high school level are a different breed.
I like how this dude just talked about people like you in the video basically ending this dudes career and putting him through hell, and yet you still fucking say stuff? Like wtf is wrong with you?
As a Packer fan, I'll always have love for Eddie. He was a good player but an even better person. I still have his jersey hanging on my wall. Wish him nothing but the best in the future!
As a former DI football player, I can honestly say that most of us never really watched football on our free time. There were some who did but majority of us knew that it was just a part of lives while we were venturing into other passions at the same time. Eddie was just one of many but unfortunately his ridiculous talent exposed him at a high level. I wish him all the best!

"He was so invested in what other ppl thought about him, it built-up mental barriers he just couldn't break. He let his outside, drown out his inner confidence, got down on himself, then returned to the 1 thing he took comfort in- ______." Thank u, I can't help but feel at this stage of my life, I'm falling down the same pit. Tot alot abt what other ppl think of my project progress, & let that negativity feed into my work. I couldn't rmb the last time I was doing things for passion anymore, the pride I had lost in my work. Just doing things for the sake of doing things, meeting deadlines, scared of what ppl will say. I can't rmb the confidence I used to have in what I was doing. Not motivated, burnt out, depressed, anxious. I'm not going to make excuses for myself, but its a pit that's easy to fall into, some struggle we can't come out of. At some point, I'm just going to do, me, & not give a flying fk abt what other ppl think. I don't have the energy to worry anymore.
@@hhhhgghgggh4001 well considering Adrian Peterson almost had his career ruined for hitting his kid with a switch, I'd say hes doing pretty good. Eddie Lacy can definitely come back. Don't think he wants to though
ITS DEEPER THAN THAT...PLAYING VIDEO GAMES WAS ABSENT WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER...ITS ALMOST LIKE HE WANTED TO FILL A VOID THAT WAS TAKEN FROM HIM AT AN EARLY AGE. SOUNDS LIKE HE HAD TO GROW UP EARLIER THAN MOST. GREAT VIDEO!
Bro we all have too when u from new Orleans brah...I been on my own since Katrina..that's shit happened Aug of 05 in I came to tx shit totally different but I'm still outcha n tx,but we have rough lifes back where I'm from brah...
I think you're right, Eddie's passion had faded he accomplished his mission to get his family out of that trailer, played in the NFL, what around 7yrs. I think hes in a good place, in the video where he was playing splash with that little girl he looked content and happy. Anyway he looked at peace with himself and his situation, besides at 28 most running backs careers are winding down anyway, nice video keep em' rollin'. Peace!
Eddie Lacy was the truth. One of the best backs to ever run the ball at Bama. Did what millions of people will never get a chance to do, BALL IN THE NFL. He overcame adversity. Katrina was tough, there are people still to this day who haven’t bounced back mentally & financially. He did his thing. Still one of my favorite backs ever. Hell he played a major part with me getting my football scholarship out of high school. When they blew ND out that year in the championship lol, I went back to school and squatted & ran every day it seemed like lbvs! Eddie keep being a great Human! Flemo!!! I’m thinking about starting a a podcast on RU-vid, I already have a episode out on Podbean but What kind of MIC is that?
@@THEZWARRIORWAR Because he's a fucking human being, and also had great success in his early career. Fucking shame on you, u might as well be part of the slave trade my dude, seriously.
Tbh idk why that commenter said your voice is annoying . . . honestly your voice is kind of relaxing to me since you're like my favorite youtuber. Keep up the good work and dont listen to the negativity Flem 👌🏈
I would love to see you do videos on players who met tragic ends. Such as Will Smith of the Saints, Chris Henry of the Bengals and Pat Tillman. We all know how their lives came to an end, but because of how in- depth your research is and the quality of your story telling, I believe you could help share their accomplishments as people and not just football players.
I can relate to Eddie Lacy. I use to weight 350 pounds my sophomore year of high school, and it's tough to lose the weight for me. After a year and a half I'm down to 284 my senior year. It's frustrating because technically I'm healthy according to blood results and stuff. It's just the fat. Sometimes you got to fight through it. It sucks but it's possible.
Prestin Bell water is key. All you should drink is water I used to hate water then I started drinking it everyday. Try to get in the habit of always drinking water and nothing else. I lost weight by usually doing cardio and a little bit of weight training and the best thing about it was I did it all at home. I would get home from work which was a construction job so that helped because it’s a lot of walking. I would do cardio usually running on the treadmill for 30 minutes then do cardio exercises for example push ups, sit ups, planks etc. I also played a lot of basketball and hitting the punching bag. The main thing you want to do is make losing weight feel like not losing weight do stuff you like to do consistently and push hard on everything you do. Sorry I’m all over the place I’m not good at explaining myself but I tried my best.
You can download lots of apps that help you with cardio and give you tons of cardio exercises also. Losing weight is all about consistency don’t cheat yourself out of workouts or eating right, that’s the worst thing you can do.
I think you’re spot on with your points, bro. We are all human, even those of us that possess superhuman attributes. Eddie made his loot. Hope he invested it right.
This the first video of yours I've seen. You're "elite" in RU-vid commentary my friend. The detail. The compassion as well as relating to the issues. Really drew me in man. This was a great great video. Stay up my dude
The positives I gathered from this story, is that he loved his family, not the violent sport, and that he finished his career with no serious head injuries or body injuries that could ruin him physically for the rest of his life.
Excellent video..!!! When is ESPN gonna hire you to do their 30 for 30 series??? But - being from New Orleans and a retired Police Officer- I had the chance to meet Eddie during Bayou Classic weekend and festivities -as most people know, it’s definitely a task to control you weight, with the food here... That being said, you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned “You being an athlete, your body is your business and must be taken care of it..” Which is really a shame for Lacy- who had so much potential....
EDP ForPresident nahh? They had Ingram, Richardson, Lacey, Josh Jacobs, Kenyan drake, tj Yeldon, d Henry, d Harris, bo scarborough, najee Harris.. I can keep going
You are a really sharp dude. I love your style and pace of storytelling; that combined with the on point, highly analytical and honest, seemingly unbiased, funny commentary makes for an excellent show! Thanks, subscribed.
As a Bama fan I didn't know half of that. Glad to see you gave a detailed well informed report on him. We Bama fans called him circle button because of his spin move in college. I hope he is doing well.
Nobody ever picked at Jerome Bettis like this and Jerome was biiiiig. I get Eddie was better off at 230 lbs but it’s sad he was mentally weak and couldn’t get through it. He was a beast and fun to watch him run through people.
Bro, you remind so much of my best homie back in Texas. I moved for work, and watching your videos makes me feel like I'm talking to my boy, and helps with missing him, dude was my brother. Maybe that sounds crazy, but I really enjoy it man. Plus, you have great incite and information. It's a pleasure to watch and learn bro. Keep it up!

I met Eddie in Chicago about a month after he started the P90X stuff. He looked great. Asked him how he was doing and he said he felt fantastic. Sad to see him no longer on the field. Although I only spoke to him briefly, he seemed like a genuinely good dude and being a Packer fan, I wanted him to succeed. I really hope his post-football life is going well.
Are you talking about the Quarterback from Arkansas that became a receiver in the NFL? I tried to get him to make one for Matt Jones for at least a couple years now.
i got his jersey bc i love his story bc i started my football Carrier as a lineman i worked on and off the field and on day my team was winning 50-6 and the players/my friends started saying run him and i got my play the one snap the only in my life and the first time i touched the ball i scoured a TD and thats when i became the running back of my team so i can relate
I hate Bama and the packers but I genuinely feel horrible for Eddie Lacey. Always hated Mike McCarthy and the hate grew after his hypocritical weight comments
