I was 17 and saw Jose preform at the California state fair in the mid 70"s and was totally blown away. I have seen him preform live 9 times over the years. He is and will always be my all time favorite musician.
So glad I grew up listening to Jose. His “Fireworks” album was my favorite. So many great songs on it, including the most beautiful instrumental version of “Yesterday” I’ve ever heard.
Thanks for the video. Jose is one of my favorite musicians and never gets enough credit for his guitar mastery. As a youngster I would see Jose frequently on t.v. and always enjoyed his personality and modest demeanor and then he would sing and play and I would enjoy the performance even more. I am glad he is still healthy and continuing his legacy of excellence.
One night I went to Wo- Hop in Chinatown NYC I was walking down stairs Three guys were walking up the guy in the middle had sunglasses on this was 3 am that guy was Jose I said hello to Jose Made my night ,
Saw him at the Golden Bear Huntington Beach summer of 65 He was young I was 17 Jose was a master Somebody called him a National Treasure that’s a fact ❤️🙏
Chris Robertson, wow! I'm an HB lifer and I was at the Golden Bear on a regular basis. Saw many, many shows there but for whatever reason I never saw Jose there. I've seen Jose all over the place at different venues over the decades, but never in my own backyard. Good for you.
I saw him in Zion IL with Blood Sweat & Tears in 1973 or 1974. I was 14 years old. It was my very first concert. After the show we saw him escorted through the lobby while waiting for our ride home.
Wow thanks I learned a lot here. All this time enjoying Benson's Affirmation and I had no idea Feliciano I wrote it. Chico and the Man came out when I was seven and I've been a fan since.
I just listened to "Alive-Alive-O" again last night. Apart from a somewhat under-rehearsed rhythm section who can't quite seem to keep up with Jose's "on the fly" delivery, it's pretty mind blowing. And it has it all: classical, blues, ballads, folk songs, rhythm and blues, bossa, funk...you name it. "The Comedy Bit" I can do without, but other than that it's a must-have if you're into Jose Feliciano at the height of his powers commercially and technically. And it's brilliantly recorded as live albums go.
My friends and I saw him at the Calle Ocho festival in South Miami in the mid 80s. He was the grandmaster of the festival that year and played an amazing concert for us. Featuring he’s hit songs, plus a remake of Billie Jean, start me up, and purple haze!
One of fews very genius true artist of past decades, unfortunately never well supported by a costant background on his career and so we miss a true genius. With other hands Jose Feliciano now wil be considerated at same level of artists like Stevie wonder, Elton John, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton etc.. byw Compliments for this video, very completed
So glad to find out that Jose is still with us. I had heard that he was killed in an auto accident some years ago. Just goes to show you can’t believe everything you see on tv . Thank You !!!
I knew he was around in NYC when I was growing up & before I entered the military in 1969. I loved his music, especially Light My fire from Jimmy Hendrix.😊
Jose Feliciano was recording for a "minor league" label, RCA-Victor, but when joining Motown, would go straight to the *pinnacle* of the recording industry in the USA.
I saw him at a cafe bar across from the Plaza Cinco Centennial in San Juan in 1994. It a Cafe for art students with them hanging their work. A lot of famous Puetro Rico artists work on those walls.
Baby Boomers grew up exposed to musicians of extreme talent like Jose’ and host of others. The last 20 years there’s some great talent out there like Billy strings/Rawlings and others-but the conglomerate mainstream machine has pushed sadistic theatrical’ non -talented garbage upon the masses.
Jose feliciano was born in Puerto Rico in 1945 He wrote no dogs 🐶 allowed Because he says that would not let his guide dog Trudy He says that arrived in London Town Jose feliciano wrote light my fire 🔥 the doors 🚪 Who wrote destiny He wrote some instrumentals flight of the bumblebee- somewhere over the rainbow- affirmation- yesterday- Feliciano won some Grammy awards for singing His career is so special he did a song Angela Star sprangled star banner Jose did para decir adios la copa rota la carcel de sing sing His albums feliciano! Alive alive O! Feliz Navidad 🎄 - 10 to 23 Jose always does a great job
Jimmy Hendrix once said of José Feliciano that his fingers were like one set of lungs, no one understood what the hell he meant since Hendrix was in a heroin and LSD stupor.
Jose Feliciano is underrated guitarist because he is blind. But for me he is #1 guitar player of all time not hendrix not page not clapton or even not beck or halen.
For all you viewers let me inhance his auto biography....my dad is the first man to teach hose how to play guitar many people do t know the true story......my name is Victor morales my mom was Jose's nanny back in 1950 for those that do t know he failed to mention that part In.
