My twin brother and I were friends with Countess as kids back in elementary school (Valley View Elementary School, Hollywood CA). The 227show days in the 80s. She was very talented and a sweetheart.

It's sad the way "hollywood" pits black women against one another as if there could only be one thriving at a time yet you don't see that with white actress. I always wondered why she never looked the same each time I showed her. I didn’t know that thyroid disease caused weight gain and puffiness. I hope countess continues to sing music and do song writing because The Parkers theme song is iconic along with her little laugh at the end.

This is going to sound crazy but I remember when she was about 5 or 6 years old and she came to my church when I was a little girl and she song. she had a voice on her! We actually had a picture of her singing at our church because her father(whom she looks very much like) a minister and he came from the same place that our pastor came from. I'm actually from a small town in Texas outside of her small town which is Idabel Oklahoma. We was so excited to see her on Star Search! She's an amazing actor and an amazing singer. Countess Vaughn’s Great Aunt is my Cousin & she is also lives in my neighborhood & my wife is her personal caretaker. Countess favors her Great Aunt(Cassie) so much that they look like they could be Mother & Daughter. Cassie personally told me that grown folks on 227 talked very bad about Countesses appearance on her run on the show, which to me is F***ed up! Grown adults making jokes about a child’s appearance is horrible. I thank you Jesus for guiding Countess through her trials in her childhood & so on. Countess Vaughn was Brandy before Brandy was even Brandy. She won _Star Search_ at 10, beating Tressa Thomas (Duck's little sister from _The Five Heartbeats_ movie), was casted in _227_ for the fourth season (although she left because one of the main cast members made crude remarks about her weight), then dropped her first album at 14 with Virgin Records, while appearing on shows such as _Roc_ and _Thea_ (where she become future castmates with both Yvette Wilson and Brandy on _Moesha_ and later _The Parkers_ in the coming years) until landing _Moesha_ as Kim. Brandy was red hot with just _one_ album by the time _Moesha_ debuted, but Countess quickly became the scene stealer on the show. This is what caused tension amongst her and Brandy. And it led to her leaving _Moesha_ for _The Parkers_ (with Mo'Nique) shortly after the fourth season wrapped. Once season 4 wrapped on _Moesha_ the show wasn't the same. The essence and magic was gone as the show reached it's peak. Countess went through a lot after _Parkers_ from hair loss (wearing wigs as a result) to her once soulful singing voice (now affected by the thyroid). And she was my favorite on both shows. And she _still_ is.
