Finn and Marceline relationship early on really does hit differently when you consider Marceline relationship with humans and makes your wonder how she reacted to seeing a human after 1000 years

The part where Marceline and Finn grosses out, let alone vomiting, over a romantic film with the couples kissing that they unleashed the pack of wolves for funsies is the epitome of "friends with benefits".

I think the evolution on PB and Finn’s relationship was amazing also, going from a pining crush to a genuine friendship was so refreshing to see.

For me the mini-arc "Stakes" was the PEAK of Marceline as a character (obviously considering she was the protagonist) and while Finn had a more secondary role I still enjoyed their dynamic together since after that we had very little Marceline screen time on the story

Marceline was one of my first crushes as a dumb kid and even then, I was still able to love and appreciate her character and dynamics with Finn, Jake and Simon.

Finn and Marceline are one of the few fictional instances that give me hope on the fact that boys and girls Can be just friends in spite of any other circumstances, if that made sense. If I’m personally being honest, I did kind of hate Marceline during her first appearance for what she did, but I just ended up loving her character as a whole with the more lore that kept coming up about her. Loved her history with Ice King, and her getting (back) together with PB was the cherry on top, as the majority, popular opinion would be repeated. Finn and Marceline. An interesting idea, but was glad to see it end the way it did. As a platonic/friend relationship, with both got each others backs. As someone who’s best friend is a girl, I’d approve of the friendship Marceline and Finn have. That being said, Huntress Wizard was probably Finn’s best shot at a relationship with sparks.

Marceline just didn’t give off those vibes as a love interest however, it’s implied that Marshall Lee in that universe had a thing with Fiona but of course he’s probably going to end up with Prince, gumball or wise. It also seems like Fiona was much older than Phone anyways so I guess since appearance wise, they were closer in age, so that’s probably why they had some type of thing together in their human counterparts. It’s confirmed, but I’m not sure if they had a thing in their land of counterparts, however, is much different, and I never ship them, because Marceline is much different from Marshall Lee. She never really flirted with Finn and even earlier seasons, she kind of somewhat had a thing with Princess bubblegum.

I remember as a kid I thought Marcelline was too mean for Finn and I was the type of viewer to think "The main character wants it, it must be correct" so it didn't click that he'd move on from bubble gum, meaning I never saw the shipping aspect of Marcy x Finn. Looking back, it's understandable, she was the first woman that he saw naked on accident even, but yeah it was obvious that it wasn't gonna happen.

One thing i love about this show, that I dont see in a lot of other shows is the older Finn gets the more mature his relationship with others become. An example is PB as a 12 and 13 year old Finn crushes on her and does anything to get her attention, even though it was never gonna happen. By the end of the series with Finn being 17 it evolves to a more equal respect mutual friendship. PB kisses finn in the last episode and if it was early season finn he would flip out and faint, now it seems like just two friends who been through a lot and grown to respect each other.

I have to give adventure time credit. When i was a kid I used to ship rhem because Marceline reminded me of Minda from zelda, Thorn from Scooby Doo with a hit of Raven's daddy issues while Finn reminded me of Link. But as the series went on I quickly got over it and strictly saw them as homies.

So I will say, Finn x Flame Princess pre "You blew it" is my favorite ship. Like, I respect the show with doing what they did and post "You blew it", I would never want to see the two back together as more than just friends. But that sweet time before everything hit the fan? The two were adorable.

I'm watching the show start to finish right now in preparation for the properly serialised spin-offs, it's a process. But the other day I watched "Sky Witch" which was the point where it probably became obvious to the viewers that Princess Bubblegum loved Marceline and it's kinda funny they were laying groundwork for that at a time when people still though Marceline was gonna rival Princess Bubblegum for Finn's affections.

I always thought shipping was more of the younger folks thing. I remember being heavily into shipping back in the early 2000s, but then sorta stopped carying and realised that some people will ship literally anything with anyone. Some are valid, some are better or worse, some even become reality, but overall, shipping is something I think most people outgrow, or start to care less about as they get older.

The TITANIC-sized missed opportunity with Adventure Time was there not being a cat fight between Marcy & Flame Princess over Finn. Marceline, seeing someone she’s close to, being with another girl who’s close to him, realizing they were meant to be, would have made some delightfully entertaining television. It’d also be interesting seeing those 2 female powerhouses go head up with each other. Punches certainly, but good old fashioned smacks in the face? Jake would probably sell tickets in the background. But by the time season 6 ended, that’s when the Woke circus freaks infiltrated the entertainment industry, & any chances of something like that happening were dashed away.

In the early seasons yeah questionable definitely but it was popular then died down thanks to Finn/Flame and Bubbline but between 2011-12 they got surpassed by their genderbent counterparts Fionna and Marshall Lee (Call Me Maybe only enhanced it) but then that died down especially after Gumlee entered the fray
