You are wrong. Opie's mother was mentioned on more than one episode. Example - When Aunt Bea is dating the dry cleaner man, Opie asks Andy if Aunt Bea and her "interest" has the same kind of love as Andy and his mom. Barney mentions Andy being a widower in a few episodes. So you failed miserably on this one.
What happened to Opie's mom is a very misleading headline to get people to listen to what they already know about the show without talking about what we were tricked into looking at at this plug for the andy griffith show which is quite frankly dishonest and a waste of time.
It's also annoying that most of the video is showing a lot of random people who are not on the show at all. It would have been much more enjoyable if they'd shown all clips of actors on the show. It really makes no sense the way this was done.
Related clips are copyrighted and cost real money to use. For a RU-vid channel, the cost of clips from the copyright holder cost more than they can make with the video.
that was a joke about how; in some small southern towns at the time relatives would sometimes work together. But by the 2nd episode they realized it wasn't working so they dropped it.
Yes Frances retired in NC and lived in Siler City, but she was not reclusive at all. She could often be seen shopping, and just generally out enjoying the surrounding towns. She was always approached by fans everytime she went out, and was receptive, and appreciated the attention graciously interacting, and answering questions. What a wonderful lady.
As I suspected. I have the feeling that the reason the other cast members disliked her is that she felt that when yo're working you should be professional, and saw the clowning and practical joking as unprofessional.
That is not what I read. At first that was true but people referred to her as Aunt Bee not Frances Bavier or Ms. Bavier whatever. It was becoming ill to her and that is when dhe became a recluse with 20 pet cats and had food and such drlivered to her...eyc etc...read wikipedia.
@@dmnemaine not true at all. It was a comedy show and she didn't mind the clowning around or anything like that. And she was loved by the rest of the cast as well. I don't know who this guy it is narrating this comes off with the spots at Aunt Bee was not loved
Aunt Bee was not that friendly and gracious when she retired. She just wanted to live her life as a regular citizen and hated to be called Aunt Bee.. I know some people that live in Siler City NC that have commented on her several times before she died.
Completely unwatchable with the horrible, random footage. Too bad. It’s a great subject but I couldn’t make it more than a minute or two in. Clearly, a lot of time was spent editing this together. Who are all these poor actors and models who are not only irrelevant, but I’m sure received no credit. Lazy work here.
Opies mother is also talked about in the episode where Aunt Bee is pressured into getting married to Fred Goss and Andy is explaining love and Opie asks about his love for his mom.
Here is something you probably didn't know. Howard McNear's role was not as a slow speaking absent minded barber originally. If you catch him in the first season he is as quick witted and spunky as anyone else. He did suffer a stroke between seasons that made him slow like that but Andy didn't want him to be let go from the show. If you notice in later seasons when he speaks slowly like that he is always sitting down in his scenes. Andy didn't want him to strain himself either.
Oh that reminds me he was supposed to be married ss well. The show intro'd his son... But lster on.the show showed him as s bachelor as he eas s mrmber of a Lonely Hearts Club. He introduced Andy ss his older son than Opie as Andy's kid brother...tjis episode was a bit sillynin that perspective but thr fact Floyd was married with acdon was ignored. Oh well that is sitcoms for you.
Why do you show the stock photos of str angers when you’re talking about REAL people???? it’s like your speech and the videos have nothing at all to do with the wonderful people you’re talking about!!!! It’s just disappointing....
We watched it every week in the sixties. It seems so quaint now but that’s an example of how the world has changed. I grew up in the real country then and I immediately identified with the show.
I have to laugh every time I think about The Andy Griffith Show. So funny and so many very funny characters. I still catch the reruns and it's still makes me lol. What a classic. RIP cast members , you're well loved
They aren't. Whoever did this video stole the information from the book: Andy & Don by Daniel DeVise, who was Don Knotts' brother-in-law. I could only watch 1:37 of this terrible take.
@@billolsen4360 yes, it's a little-known fact, their families were sharecroppers and were quite proud of them when they became rich, successful white men.
Great Show - Watch ir all the time it's aired on TV There is one blooper - wonder if any one picked up on this which is - Andy and Barney were introduced as cousins - then - Andy and Barney were introduced as childhood friends .
It is a sitcom and sitcoms are not consistent or accurate. On Friends Joey is late for an audition. He said he has 15 mins to get to the studio. The apt. is on Central Park West. The studio he is shown auditioning at is Silvercup. Silvercup is on L.I.C. From CPW it would take alot more than 25 mins to get to. Joey said he was going to run there. How?
I have 3 favorite episodes. I am old enough to remember them being aired for the first time. I liked when a stranger comes to town in season one and everyone is scared because he knows all about the town though he has never been there. I liked the one when Barney is being threatened by bully who wants to beat Barney when he is out of his uniform. A Judo expert dresses like Barney and the bully thinks it is Barney. I like hot rod Otis when Otis buys a used car. When Don Knox left the show was never the same.
Andy's wife died while giving birth to Opie or shortly after. We know this from the first pilot opening episode when Rose got married and Aunt Bee came to take her place. Opie didn't want any part of her but warmed up to her at the end. Andy and Opie spoke of his mother time to time in a couple of early episodes but not in later years. This show is one of the best ever made.
"What many viewers didn't know was they played such great friends on the show because they were best friends in real life" What *Fact Verse* didn't seem to know is that Andy and Barney were 'Cousins' on the show, which is why Barney got the job as Deputy in the first place.
Griffith didn't just like to visit Roanoke island, he lived there for many years. And I agree with the other comments; get rid of the stock video footage that has nothing to do with anything.
I liked Andy the best, I guess because he is from North Carolina and so am I -I could understand his southern way of speaking because everyone from the Carolinas spoke like Andy did-!!
actually did in a few earlier episodes. andy also only showed driving anything besides the police car in the first episode where he had a truck a 40 ford irrc.
The only thing I recall ever being said about Opies mother, was in an early episode, maybe The first season? ....Andy & Opie were having a heart to heart & I rememberAndy telling Opie something like, ".....you were just a little bitty thing when I lost your mother (or ..your ma...). That's all I remember.
"Mayberry, RFD," was essentially a continuation of "The Andy Griffith Show." It ran from 1968-71. In fact, viewers were eased into Mayberry over the last few episodes of the parent show, and Griffith himself was in the 1st episode of "Mayberry." It showed his marriage to Helen Crump.
I love the Andy Griffin show I still watch it to this day I love everybody on the show but I got to tell you Ron Howard was my favorite and I loved him in Happy Days which was my favorite show of him
In one episode Andy and Miss Peggy were eating in a French restaurant and the topic of vacations came up. Miss Peggy asked Andy if he ever traveled to Europe. Andy's answer was Marg an I took a camper to New Orleans once the way he said it, you felt that Marg might have been his wife.
Mickey Meador naw, Otis wasn’t the only one married. You forgot about the couple that always fought and threw things at each other but still got along. Andy was trying to teach them to be nice to each other.
I haven't heard any mention about the pilot for the show from the mention about the pilot for the show from the Danny Thomas Show from anybody except Andy when he was doing an interview. Ronnie Howard said he was 7 when he started on the show but if you want that clip, you'll see that he was younger than 7
I am almost positive I heard Andy mention something about Opie's mother, in a very early episode. They could improve this channel so much, if they would stop with all the background stuff that has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Not to mention they could get more of their "facts" straight.
swmovan Yes, I did too. It was on a backdoor episode of The Danny Thomas show titled “Make Room for Daddy”, the pilot for the Andy Griffith Show, where he mentioned it to Opie
Aunt Bee bought the house that belonged to my mom's doctor in Siler City, NC. She was not very well liked there, and I understand why. She's buried in the same cemetary as my mom and stepdad. When fans visit, they bring jars of pickles instead of flowers to her grave. Kinda fits her personality.
Forgot to mention Don Knots also appeared in Matlock and The Incredible Mr Limpet is one of the best movies Don Knots ever made I still watch it when it comes on
Thanks so much, great reminiscing about this wonderful show that taught me alot about life n how to b a great and kind person Thanks Andy for everything Rest in Peace 💋 Chris from Chicago
Debbie Detmer Wouldn’t be nice if we could go back in time to a place like Mayberry? I guess watching these old episodes is the closest we can get to that.
My two favorites is when Ope beat up one enemie who gave him a black eye and made another one run off. He told Ope to cross the line and Ope didn't looking mean and ready to bop cuz to next week.
They raise the question in the hook when trying to get you to watch but I don't know if they ever answer it because I couldn't get past the first minute and a half.
Before "Happy Days" ,Ron was a regular on "The Smith Family", starring Henry Fonda, Ron was the second oldest, and he had an older sister. We tried to watch it every week, but I think the program was canceled after one season.
I think Elinor Donahue is the only living member of the cast (2-19-21) who was an adult during the show's run. Also, Don Knotts is from Morgantown, West Virginia, a town about 18 miles from me. In fact Morgantown has a Fife Avenue.
As of July 23, 2022 Elinor Donohue is still alive. I was 9 years old during the short time she was on TAGS, and i had a big crush on her!! Really upset when she got the boot for lack of chemistry with Andy. She still a very regal looking lady in her old age.
@@enigmawyoming5201 I haven't seen any recent pictures of her, but most women who are attractive when young tend to be attractive in a mature way as they grow older.
Most people don't know that the theme song for The Andy Griffith show is an actual song with words called down by the fishing hole which was sung by Andy Griffith
In the danny thomas show. opies turtle got stepped on and he asked to arrest the girl that stepped on his turtle, so he asked if someone stepped on mom and andy told him she was sick i believe
Lotta comments on pics and content but the subject is the real point. This show brings back memories of sitting on the floor in front of the tv as a kid. Back when a remote was throwing a slipper at your younger brother to change the channel or move the antenna. The situations and performers made you laugh. I watch the show regularly on Netflix and wondered if it would be removed because no one watched but now I know it's still popular
I remember that movie. Wow (ON MY SON'S APP), my brother uncle myself went to see it at a outside movie theatre around 1970. Outside Warrensburg- higginsville mo jct .on hwy 13. Great memories... remember the movie see no evil.? Another good intense movie. Thanks Brenda. 1-24-20.
I was on my way to mention this. It was established near the start of the 1st season, possibly the pilot ep. Then quickly forgotten and made best friends. How could you guys miss this but of trivia? 😉
This is true I think it was the first episode where Opie's Nanny is moving away to get married and Andy brings Aunt Bee to help around the house with Opie. Also if you watch the Pilot Episode Francis B. Aunt Bee is in it but she plays a different character not Aunt Bee.
@@dnvelocity3916 No after episode one they re-wrote it so they were not cousins. Watch episode one and Andy and Barney are standing in the driveway talking about being cousins.
My favorite was when Opie competed with another boy for a job and got it, but later found out his competitor had to help his family pay some bills, so Opie gave up his job to the other kid.
Otis wasn't drunk all the time. He did wirk during the week. It was weekends he became drunk. (Otis was a Clark Kent drunk) Also Emmett was married as well.
Forgot about Andys romance with the female pharmacist. I think she used to be a daughter on Father Knows Best but dont quote me on that. What happened to her?
Forgot to mention that Don Knotts guess starred in the tv show Matlock. Still loved Mayberry and it's message on each episode still has modern day application.
