With 4 all-nba players in the top 10, multiple all-stars in the 2nd round, and a TON of terrible decisions throughout… the 2012 NBA Draft has turned into one of the most interesting classes of the 2010s in the 10+ years since draft night… yet it seems to be get forgotten sometimes… you have the AMAZING 2011 class right before it and the DISASTER 2013 class right after it… but the 2012 NBA Draft has no shortage of crazy storylines to look back on as well.

Growing up playing 2k13 for 5 years until I could buy my own games, I knew this draft class like the back of my head. It was funny because the game always had the code for Draymond, but once 2k shut down the servers, you couldn't access him unless you were so bad in your mycareer that you got drafted in the 2nd round.

@Amm17ar

Terrible organization. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. If a team drafts in the lottery as many times as Sacramento has over the past couple decades and they still consistently end up being bad, it speaks more about the team than it does about the players. Sure they drafted poorly.....but they also couldnt develop talent at all. The amount of times a top pick was traded within 3 years of the selection is a good indication that they couldnt and wouldnt develop the kids. Theres a decent amount of players who started their careers in Sacramento and went on to have decent to good NBA careers elsewhere for teams that actually cared about developing that talent. Id be willing to bet a decent amount of money theyll be back in the lottery in the next 3 seasons because theyre so poorly run. I genuinely feel bad for Kings fans.
@danimalman3
@danimalman3 5 месяцев назад
@@Amm17ar they're miles better now. The people in charge then are not in charge now. Players like Fox, Haliburton and Keegan, seem to be developing well. The Sabonis trade was a huge risk but paid off.
@Amm17ar
@Amm17ar 5 месяцев назад
@@danimalman3 Ya the Sabonis trade is looking amazing.... you gave up an 22 year old All-NBA caliber player for a borderline All-Star who is good, but not the level Tyrese is looking like hes going to be. The Franchise is still making terrible moves. Davion Mitchell is actively getting worse every season he plays and the team is being carried by Fox. The Kings will always be the Kings. They gave up Haliburton AND Hield for Sabonis lol. They gave up a young All NBA player on a rookie deal, AND a really key role player for a guy whoes worse potential-wise.... Cmon man lol? Not to mention they have a negative points differential this season, and arent contending any time soon. You never give up a rookie with the potential Haliburton had, especially when hes on his rookie deal lol.....

Drummond actually DID become an outstanding defender. He led he league in Defensive Win Shares twice, something only 17 men have ever done, and he also dragged Detroit basically single handedly to a top 12 defense for 4 years in a row. Most underappreciated defender of his era.
@fortynights1513
@fortynights1513 5 месяцев назад
That’s interesting. Whenever I hear Drummond’s name nowadays I generally hear that all he did was put up empty stats.
@thareelhelloagain
@thareelhelloagain 5 месяцев назад
@@fortynights1513 People don't actually study the stats. Drummond continues to have a huge impact off the bench to this day, and was a massively impactful star when he was starting in Detroit. One of the most unfairly slandered players of any era. His advanced stats, especially on defense, are simply fantastic.
@fortynights1513
@fortynights1513 5 месяцев назад
@@thareelhelloagainI wasn’t implying that that take is correct, just saying that that was something I had heard. If he’s been an impactful bench guy, then it certainly sounds like he gets unfairly slandered. He’s had a solid career I’d say. Also credit Drummond for dating one of my old childhood crushes.
@dunadan1995
@dunadan1995 5 месяцев назад
Oh man, it's obvious you didn't watch the Pistons back then. Drum always over-reached, jumped on shots when he didn't have to and was known to pout and lose effort if things didn't go his way. He is arguably the best rebounder of the past decade or so, so the advanced defensive stats(which value rebounds and steals/blocks A LOT) made him seem like a great defensive player, but it's the same story as Hasaan Whiteside, who's out of the league for a reason. Great rebounding numbers, good steal and block stats(due to overreaching and over reacting on shots which sometimes worked but most of the time didn't), still not a good defender at all. Had it all to be one of the greatest defenders in the league, never was though.
@thareelhelloagain
@thareelhelloagain 5 месяцев назад
@@dunadan1995 Led the league twice in Defensive Win Shares on a team without other good defenders, and led them to a top 12 defense four years running. Explain how that's possible please. I've watched the Pistons since 2008. Nice try, son.

An important missing context of the Sacramento Robinson pick is that they had just traded Carl Landry. Robinson and Carl Landry clearly had a lot of archetypal similarities as sub 6’9 rebounding 4s. Furthermore after getting rid of Robinson, they brought Landry back summer 2013, which in my view cements Robinson replacing Landry being their plan.
