What Happened To The College Allen Iverson Rashad Phillips? Stunted Growth

Rashad Phillips was compared to Allen Iverson more than a few times leaving college, and many thought he had the chance to make the NBA after being one of the best scorers of his generation on the NCAA level, but for these reasons (growth stunts) that didn't happen. he went undrafted and never played in the league. What happens when you’ve proven you are one of the best players at numerous levels and things still don’t go you way in basketball? Well, like today’s feature, you have to accept the things you can’t control, adjust and move on. The fact of the matter of making the NBA is not all good players will get there, as you may have heard many times there’s players who haven’t made it to that level arguably better than some who have. What I do know is that in life when you deserve something it always finds its way to you. Choices we make, time spent on our craft, lack of this or that here and there, are all factors that make whoever that guy is that made it over you more deserving and that’s just how the game goes. He was also a sniper from deep and held the record for that as well for 20 years and had his jersey retired for all the great things he did for the program. Mainly putting the back on the map and in the post season, while showing that skill still mattered more than size. He shot 40% or better from 3 in his final 2 years at Detroit, adding at least 90% from the foul line as a senior as well. But none if it translated to an NBA job. What Happened To The College Allen Iverson Rashad Phillips? Stunted Growth

Would you rather play at a small school and average 25ppg, or a school like North Carolina or Duke and average 15ppg?

Third option: I would rather go to an Illinois or a Seton Hall and average 20 a game. LOL.

He got played by the NBA. There were other many diminutive players like Spud and Muggsy who got an opportunity and yet he didn't and he was just as good if not better than the aforementioned players. Even former EMU player Earl Boykins got to play in the NBA. It's a shame Shad never got an opportunity because he would have had a nice career in my opinion.

Good video, Rashard was a good talent. His father ran the gym at St. Rita’s, and most of the PSL schools had a summer league team there. It wasn’t the same run as the Saint (Cecilia) but still respected. We also played at Hackett as well. What really hurt Rashard was not his size, or even his school, it was the lack of teammates. Most Detroit talent left the state or played for U of M or State. Nobody really played for U of D, that really prevented him from getting that shine.

He was better all around than Earl Boykins, two years ahead of him at Eastern Mich, but Boykins took down Duke in the NCAA's, while Mercy did nothing. And Boykins had a nice li'l career in the League -- even as a sometimes-starter. Give Phillips his flowers, tho; he was a bad dude in his time. No Doubt. Salute! 🫡
