Trading an injured Randle without an extension is a no brained and will have us in a very weak position! Markenen in a 3 way trade is my favorite option. I would only consider Kuzma if we also get Derozan by giving up Bojan and even Mitch plus picks

I’m gonna help you guys out because y’all are fans of Julius Randle, so your impartiality is in question. There simply is not a market outside of my NYK’s for his services. I’ve made this analogy for a better part of 3 years now, if you were to trade Randle for another top tiered player, how does the trade play out. Would we have to add assets to our all star player to balance the value of the trade? If we have to add assets to get another team’s star player, then Randle is considered a diminished return from the other team or teams. I do wish ppl would stop viewing Randle value strictly on the #’s he gets the opportunity to produce. Thib’s has been the best career and financial plus multiplier for Randle. No other coach around the league with deep playoff aspirations view Randle as a player that is the missing piece to a championship run. But Markennan, not saying he is this all world talent, but he would be a player that other teams would view as a player who could balance out a specific perimeter deficiency such as a perimeter spacing big, who has size and athleticism. He would just be a better fit on my NYK’s. My NYK’s should not give Randle an extension before the season starts or before the trade deadline. Run the current squad back with the draft additions and a couple smart FA pick ups.

So get rid of a 3 time all star all nba player for an unproven Lauri putting up empty stats on a team that’s not competing. Ny is built on toughness. Randall has shown he can produce in the toughest market in the world. Randall has took the Knicks to the playoffs as a 4th seed alone. Laurie couldn’t make the play in.

So...what you are saying is an OBVIOUS truth. However, the reason why you (we) will be in the minority is if a non Knick follower says it, "you don't know the Knicks", and if a Knick fan says it, "you are a fake Knicks fan." Basically, the people who know Randle has no value are always going to be vastly outnumbered. Only a small number of objective/knowledgeable Knicks fans, a few basketball nerds, and people who are paid to build winning teams understand Randle's true value, or lack thereof. They are always going to be outnumbered by the majority of Knick Nation. Sidenote: Randle IS very talented. I think the Thibs/Randle dynamic is the problem. Thibs leans on the guy like he's a superstar and Randle has now become accustomed to that role. He, like a Kobe or an AI, truly believes that the best way to help the team is to be aggressive offensively...no matter how poorly he shoots, how poorly he defends, or how many times he turns the ball over. The difference is, Randle is obviously not as good as guys like that (and Kobe obviously guarded as well). A different coach that funnels Randle into doing the things he does well, instead of letting him pad his stats with junk volume, might be able to win with him.

@@Ceaserelli Randle is the one putting up empty stats. You are saying Lauri is putting up empty stats because he plays on a team that is not built to win right now. However, his skillset, physical abilities, and tendencies as a player definitely contribute to winning. You Randle stans keep saying "3 time all star"...so tf what??? Individual accolades don't win games. Players playing their roles well wins games. Randle plays a SUPERSTAR role. Higher usage rate than Jokic, KD, Bron, or AD. The fact that he puts up semi decent basic stats when he gets superstar opportunity is not good. He's a high volume inefficient statpadder who gives inconsistent defensive effort, pouts when he doesn't get his numbers, and has had multiple full on temper tantrums. You don't make up for poor efficiency with volume. You make poor efficiency worse with volume. Randle shouldn't go anywhere, not because he's a 3 time all star, but because he has no value to anybody else. Might as well let him play out his contract because you can't get anything of value for him. The only "value" he has is the contract itself.

@@Michael_Page so he used empty stats to take the Knicks to the 4th seed without Brunson. Lauri has never made the playoffs on any team. How do you become an all star without being selected? How do you become all Nba without being one of the top 15 players in the league? He was selected by people who actually know basketball. Not the fans the coaches. With all his decencies he’s still a far better player than Laurie. I’m not a Randall Stan I’m a Knicks fan that believes in trusting the process not chasing fools gold. Randall was the beginning of this new culture that you are currently enjoying. He put us on his back when no one wanted to touch that jersey. So he can drag a bunch of nobodies to the 4th seed but Laurie can’t make the 10th seed. He is one of the reasons the Knicks became an attractive destination. I’m not into chasing every name mentioned. I’m into following thru what we started. You sound crazy getting rid of Randall for a player who has never won shit. Doesn’t matter how you dress it up Laurie is a losing player period. So I guess your smarter and more knowledgeable than the people who selected him as all Nba. You know more than Thibbs? You know more than Garnett. Any real basketball mind knows you run it back with Randall. 14-2 together. Laurie had a winning record in his nba career. It’s easy to play in Utah in a market with no fans or expectations. In addition to all that he’s injury prone. If we not getting Gianis or someone of that cloth we are not moving Randall. Y’all fake fans just hate your own team. Think we trading baseball cards or something.

@@Ceaserelli That was 3 years ago. Thibs did that. He took a bunch of meh players and made the playoffs. What happened in the playoffs? Randle was EXPOSED when the games counted. Worst playoff performance of all time. Bro got locked up by John freaking Collins. What happened the next year? Back into a pumpkin. Missed the play in entirely. So in 3 years as "the man" Randle got smashed in the first round and missed the play in twice. Congrats? There's a difference between being the best player on a team with zero chance to get out of the first round and being a contributer to a contender. MAYBE a team like Detroit would want Randle so Cade doesn't have to play on a horrible team. However, it would be a short deal, and they likely would prefer Tobias Harris if they could get him.

Hey Gavin, nobody around the league cares that you think Randle is a better player than KAT…around the league he is not viewed as a better player than KAT! You need to stop thinking with your fandom heart and look thru a reality scope. Randle just doesn’t move a needle for most teams in the league. If I had a choice of big to move Randle for, I’d do it for the T-Wolves Naz Reid. He fits our timeline for a solid big that spaces the floor, plays hard nosed defense and swings between the 4 and 5 depending on the matchup. I wouldn’t need him to give me 20/ 10 points/rebounds.

KAT lost the conference finals for the wolves becuse he missed a zillion shots. He wasnt injured like Randle was last year in the playoffs. He just choked. Randle is better than KAT at everything but 3 pointers. Randle is far better in the paint and off the dribble. Randle averaged more points, rebounds and assists than KAT this year. So the facts are not on your side chief.

Don’t agree with the Kat vs. Randle take. Looking at stats alone Randle is a better player. Look at intangibles, he’s a better leader and teammate. KAT is the better talent, Randle the better player. Now that Naz Reid take, for sure I agree with. That would give us what we need as far as floor spacing. Get good handling and scoring off the break. Only issue is you’re giving up more shot creation. Now if you add a second player in the deal for Naz Reid and get a Mikal Bridges or another elite role player like OG then we’re talking conference finals. Hope the Knicks see if they can somehow get Naz Reid bc he fits the bill as far as the hard nose identity of this team.
