What Happens If You Turbo a 5.3L Yukon With No Other Mods? Lets Find Out! (Uncle Rob Hits the Dyno)

Well here it is! Uncle Rob turbo Yukon XL build is FNALLY on the dyno ready to make some power. We decided to make it an experiment though. We did not upgrade ANYTHING on the truck at all. Literally just bolted a turbo kit on. It is still on the stock untouched fuel system, stock MAP sensor, stock valve springs...EVERYTHING. This is absolutely not something you should try at home but luckily we have super tuner Tanner in house at Triple Seven Performance and he is willing to risk my engine and our dignity in the name of science!

Absolutely! That's what I say ALL the time. I have two turbo Hondas...a 709 whp fully built LSVTEC GT3582 Civic coupe and a 500 whp CG1 Accord with a JDM J32A and six speed manual swap with a GT3582R turbo. I turned every nut and bolt on them both. I also painted both of them in my backyard. It's all about what you love to do and having fun, or what's the point?

Especially when the first sentence he says is “no maf sensor guys lol hurr durrrr!” The maf sensor controls shift pressures, it will destroy your trans and void the warranty with a bad maf.

@@fr4gg3rd00d it’s more of an example as to how quickly it f’s your truck up without the MAF. I do LS swaps and wiring harnesses for a living, if you bought a rebuilt transmission this morning from me and it burned up after a 20 minute drive with no maf the same day then that sucks for you 🤷‍♂️.

I love seeing your yukon build. I have an 03 suburban, same color and everything. I also used to ride around in it when i was a little kid and ive been driving it now since 2016. Ive always wanted to throw a turbo on it along with a bunch of other stuff. Pretty cool seeing someone actually doing that type of thing. These trucks are fantastic.

Junkyard trips are fun. Used to take random trips here in Florida to local junkyards. Sometimes I would hit the jackpot. Sometimes I would get two hotdogs and a soda and that's it. Love the content !! My 03 Tahoe is the same color.

It’s a common issue for those 4wd button panels to go bad. You can either take it apart and re solder the connection that goes bad or buy a new button panel from summit for like $40

Mine gets stuck in 4x4 some times I'm sure it's the thermal actuator thou. I'm just to lazy to get to fixing it since it ts not my daily driver.

I got lucky on my current Yukon and just unplugged the battery and cleaned off the grounds under the truck and it fixed the issue.

It's always something. Junkyard trip just to find out it was a loose battery connection. I figured the next thing would be you'd run out of gas on the dyno. At least you got to go to the junkyard. That's even more fun than going to the hardware store. Can't wait to see what the new fuel injection does.
