You should not use the Ozempic pen more than 56 days after the first dose. Discard of the pen in a sharps container, even if it still has liquid left in it.
Since y'all don't like to read, here are some facts about me. I live with Type 1 Diabetes, but was misdiagnosed with Type 2 diabetes before I was got the correct diagnosis. I'm getting my Master's in Applied Nutrition and becoming a dietitian, and certified diabetes educator. I started talk about Semaglutide in 2017, before it was on any of your radars. So don't come at me crazy. I have a diabetes blog covered by The New York Times, Washington Post, Eat This Not That, CNN, and lots of other pubs. You don't need to talk down to me, I know what I'm talking about. Lastly, Semaglutide IS approved for weight loss by the FDA. That doesn't mean VANITY weight loss, it means obesity management. Some of y'all need a lesson in Googling a source. I'm well-versed in diabetes care. Come correct before you try to fight me.
Have you tried the Berberine yet? That’s what my dr recommended to me if I didn’t want to take this drug mentioned in your video. Just doing my homework and listening to everyone’s experience prior to taking another drug. Thanks 😊
I haven’t tried berberine, but I have heard that the supplement works for lots of folks! Track your blood sugars and see how it’s going for you. Good luck!
Racism plus misogyny is tough. Good on you for persisting. And thanks for this video. I was wondering why my sugars and hunger levels were not good. ))
It’s an expensive drug indeed, one that can cost you your life, the most expensive cost of all costs. The “easy” way is never the best way to lose weight, when it’s used off label.
Everyone who basically is anti-josempic wegovy, monjero I know I'm spelling it wrong I'm holding my grandson and speak texting😅 basically all of the injectables have no idea what it is to be extremely overweight and have tried things and nothing is working It's like we know, we tried everything, now this is something that will help and yes of course with self-control, and good diet choices blah blah blah we know we're so tired of hearing have you tried this have you tried that,? Have you tried being over 250? And can't even tie your freaking shoe strings without feeling like you going to pass out? No! So stop with the judgments and allow us to receive the help and if we're paying for it allow us to experience
Aaamen!! People need to stop. Its not ALWAYA abt diet and exercise. Some of us arent born blessed to look the way we truly live. I live healtheir than everyone i know! And yet, a heavy gene is in my dna. So please, judgmental people, learn about metabolic science in conjucntion with DNA or dont judge. Be kind and rewind.
I disagree - medications can lose their potency over time, which means that patients can run into safety issues taking an expired medication. Though it’s unfortunate and costly to us as patients, it also keeps us safe. I don’t cheer pharma on ever, but I do see this one as safety rather than greed at play - though, it does make them more money.
56 days = good 57 days = bad That is utterly laughable to me. Avoid this drug unless you want accelerated aging and muscle loss + other side effects. People successfully treat type 2 diabetes with fasting, appropriate food, and exercise.
The side effects weren't bad, even nausea is sporadic and lasts for about a minute. The only time that I had diarrhea is when I ate cereal one morning. But honestly, I can now eat whatever, but in smaller quantities.
Actually semeglutide is FDA approved for weight loss. It’s NOT off label if you’re doctor is prescribing it for weight loss. Also, I used a syringe that was over a year old and it worked perfectly.
Ozempic itself is not approved for weight loss, only for management of Type 2. Other labels for Semaglutide (like Wegovy) are specifically meant for weight loss. They are given in higher concentrations.
I don't know what y'all are talking about but my doctor prescribed Ozempic to me 2 weeks ago for weight loss and I do not have diabetes. Whether it's approved by the FDA for weight loss or not doctors are still prescribing it to patients for weight loss and not diabetes
Wow…people still trust the FDA and big pharmaceutical companies! I asume you’re all vaccinated right! Stop eating crap…that’s the only thing that works!
there was a research by military, investigating if meds can be used after expiration dates. it showed that yes, meds are safe up to 10 years after e.d. some are not as effective, but others last longer, to 15 years, in their effectiveness. so, as long as liquid is not clouded, I would use it, since it is mentioned by manufacturer that if in mew pen liquid is clouded due to improper storage- it should not be used.
It’s shocking that they don’t adapt the amounts in accordance with the dosage. It looks like the same amount is in the 0.25 pen as is in the 0.5 pen 🤷♀️
They do! There are two different pens. 1 for .25 to .5mg doses and one for 1-2mg doses. Depending on your prescribed dose, you may have more doses in one pen. Unless you’re skipping doses regularly, you should be able to use it all in time.
@@TheHangryWoman my 0.25 pen was still more than half full after dispensing four doses, so I reuse the needles - they don’t recommend doing this, but I feel bad throwing so much product away. Similar with the 0.5 dose.
@@enoasangansi5103 I do finish it every time. I am used to taking insulin and have no qualms about using the same needle more than once. Issue is my nurse drummed into me that I should not do that …. Ozempic is scarse and expensive, so I ignore and use it to the end. On the 0.25 if I only used one needle every time, there is over half the pen left full. I find this shocking. I do not know if more needles can be bought separately, must look into that one.
It sounds like a lie by the company to make there sales to stay steady. It will last 56 days exactly whether refrigerated at 35 degrees or left in 85 degree weather. It isn't clicking.
Drug companies are greedy, but every kind of medication has an expiration date. Compounds in different medications need to be stored at stable temps. But they degrade faster and become less potent at high temps. Not a lie so much as science + liability.
@@TheHangryWoman it is a lie and you just proved my point, at 80° It should go bad quicker then at and 35 if refrigerated. The company wants you to use it before 50 days and then throw it away and buy another one. It’s a way to sell more drugs.
Why would anybody still having ozempic pen to use after 56 days? Doesn't it have a maximum of four doses in it? What you supposed to do once a week which is 28 days max? Once opened?
If a patient has an obesity diagnosis, insurance is more likely to provide coverage. If not, the prescriber may have to appeal as to why coverage is necessary.
I take a fairly small dose (.50-.75) and I take my injections every 8-10 days instead of every 7days. Once I got up to the 1mg dose, the worst of the side effects that I experience, don't subside enough to make it worth it to keep up that dose. The digestive and poop cramps were as bad as labor pain for me at that dose. And I've given birth without any drugs, so I know how painful childbirth is. I also don't know how long Ill have my free supply of this expensive drug and I want it to last as long as possible. So I cut back on the dose and monitored my symptoms and results to find a middle ground I can live with. So one pen lasts me a long time and I still lose 2-4lbs a week. I also save the last bit of the pen that won't come out on its own, and I save them until I can get a whole dose using a syringe to get every last drop out the pens. There has been NO difference in effectivity or potency whether it's the first dose or it's a pen thats been open for a few months.
I’m glad you haven’t experienced reduced efficacy with extended use. This video is to clarify the reasons why the manufacturer includes this label disclaimer. Individual results can vary. But medications do lost potency, and that’s the risk we potentially take using medicine beyond it’s labeled usage.
Please be cautious with this medication. Many people are experiencing depression and suicidal thoughts..... please research this. ... its not worth it...
My doctor actually just told me there is an increase in moods after using this medication because you feel less irritable and you're losing weight as well. I specifically asked about mental health side effects and was told there aren't any negative effects.
Actually the opposite is true. There are new studies showing use of ozempic is reducing depression as well as reducing addictive behaviors to drugs, alcohol, and smoking.
It also causes kidney failure as a side effect. I would NEVER use that after finding that out. People don’t research enough just worried about the superficial, but who cares about weight loss if you’re sick in the end. Have to research the studies that were done and the results from them.
Please do not. It’s causing a shortage of supplies to diabetics(aka ppl who actually needs them) and it is not healthy. Quote IT IS NOT FRICKIN HEALTHY
On ozempic for a year so far.i take it on a Sunday, and now for the past 3 weeks every Tuesday iv been really ill will vomit and diarrhea, can't understand why it's happening after a year, thinking about stopping it for one week to see if there's a difference.
You can, but you would be wasting your money, and you may not get the results you're after. Habit changes are just as important as the medication taken. The medication just helps your body function more optimally to meet the goals of losing weight.. Additionally, the diet and exercise have to continue to be effective.
56 days is exactly eight weeks. So you could take half doses for eight weeks. By doubling the Rx strength to the 2 mg pen if you're taking .5 doses, you could get eight full doses per pen, cutting the cost in half. (My pharmacy advised that the pens are same price).
Typically, you should be able to use a pen in its entirety within 4-6 weeks once opened, and depending on your dosage. The manufacturer advised throwing out open pens after 56 days, and opened and used pens have a fast rate of degradation.
An Expensive drug I tossed in the trash after finding out the important details not mentioned in the doctors office. Not for lack of trying to ask and I found a much safer way to lose weight quickly 😊
@@SilentWhisper8806 I use a strategy of fasting techniques. With a combination of daily vitamins, daily electrolytes twice a day, and well planned eating times with specific gaps. I have a playlist available if you click my picture explaining what I went through. Everything I've been doing has been approved by my doctor's and health advisors plus my blood work/pressure is all normal.
@@SilentWhisper8806 so far this has been the easiest way out of me being morbidly obese and making these videos is mainly for my own accountability. I just want to share with others and show what's possible for anyone struggling.
@BigManAlaska Yes, a waste of my money. I'm feeling terrible. I've missed 2 days of work. I REFUSE to take the remaining medication. Could you please tell us your safer way ?
I just started tonight 7/19 I am starting at 0.5 mg dosage. If there is still medicine in the tube can I keep using the pen ? I have a full month dosage which is only 30 days.
I used it tonight and on and off from last year is it dangerous I didn’t know you have to throw it away after 56 day and I’m really worried now I got it last June and went off it for a while and started again tonight
I'm scared to start this 😳 meds I have pcos and they say I'm pretty diabetic they wanted to put me on metform8s I tried it before can someone help me feel at ease with this situation I'm currently 260 and need to lose the weight badly but with pcos its hard for me to workout cause I get inflammation and I feel stuck
Help! I took my expired ozempic shot yesterday before watching this video.. i noticed it has small bubbles in it. Will i be okay? i feel fine right now.
Novo Nordisk hasn’t published efficacy reduction data (that I could find through my research). In all cases (printed instructions, medical website), they urge you to not use the pen after 56 days and to throw it away after the expiration date. In other injectables, it’s noted that drugs stored improperly, or that have expired lose potency, and aren’t as effective. If I find anything else, I’ll be sure to report back.
@@TheHangryWoman thanks! is there a DM function here? Congrats on your channel. Your video popped up when I searched for ozempic expiration etc. on google. Keep up the good work!
This is why you should eat healthy to begin with! My sister did keto diet and she had type 2 diabetes and it went away after doing it for 1 year. Then after she introduced carbs after that but a limited amount. You can do it through food! You don’t need drugs!
Some people need help. My husband has been trying to loose weight for years and can’t stop the addiction to food. This medicine shuts that voice off and allows him to make the changes necessary.
And there's also a thing call Menopause..never knew I could gain weight untill a year ago in 54 in a few months!..nothing has changed!..gaining and hard to lose
I'm assuming you used it for weight loss? If so have you gotten therapy for the trauma that caused you to have a food addiction? Otherwise, once you stop taking it you'll put the weight back on. Maybe more.
Hahaha yeah that’s what you get !!!! I wish nothing best for you it’s not a medication for loosing weight it’s a diabetic medicine!!!! I bet you never work out in these 5 weeks that’s a big thing that people don’t do wile your taking these 💉
@Kayla only needed to lose 17 lbs weight gain since menopause that diet and exercise wouldn't budge..couldn't gain weight to save my life before..till menopause came knocking 2 years ago..got none of the crazy side effects..apart from the night of the weekly shots..im extremely tired only last a day..got only 5 lbs left!
I think moods have a lot to do with it too. If you're stuck in a pattern and your weight has created this feeling of hopelessness. It's hard to try to be healthy when you don't even want to be awake. I think when trying to lose weight you need to work on mental health as well.
Please, tell me what an expert looks like. I’d love to know. Be as detailed as possible. Hurt my feelings. I’d love to get a stranger’s perspective who clearly has a disgusting and troubling profile picture and is obviously a troll. 🙄 with all the disrespect, kick rocks.
Expensive drug and cost and demand is a thing so y’all are gonna make it more expensive for diabetics. Like ARE YOU ALL BOBBLE HEADS? Ever heard the song stupid girl by pink
It’s funny how people complain about not losing weight cos they’re too lazy to workout. Then they complain how expensive this drug is.😂 I’m talking about peoole who are not sick okay. This just for the fat and lazy ones
Moods play a part as well. I'm sure there are fat and lazy people in the world but they aren't the ones actively trying to lose weight and failing. Those people could probably care less about how they feel or look.
I'm sorry but my husband is a diabetic we pay about 3,000 a month so he can stay alive so you other people need to get to the gym instead of making a shortage for medical needs
That's why there's medicaid, but our government still bankrupts us in medical bills and still has a shortage. They have the supply I bet but still want to profit on it more. Higher demand and low supply=increased pockets of drug companies. We are also force-fed the obsession of weightloss and drug commercials daily. Cruel world right?
It’s crazy because the 1st thing people want to scream is my husband or wife is diabetic then they say to the person using the medicine you should get in the gym and stop using the medicine because it’s taking from those who need it. Well hello maybe your spouse or love one should get in the gym and change his or her lifestyle as well.
So most people taking for weight are insulin resistant and pre-diabetic. Are you so sure you, knowing how difficult diabetes is, are saying your fine if people end up diabetic instead of avoiding it by improving their diets and controlling their weight?
Really confused who’s prescribing you usually given once a week enough 28 day supply use it 4times a month don’t now how someone could have it for 56 days
Don’t ask me, as the manufacturer why they include it on the packaging. I’m just telling y’all what they said and why. It is not my personal experience that there’s unused medication.
