There is a good chance a vehicle that has unset will get some damage being righted because it is nearly impossible to control the integrity of the chassis as it is brought back over.
My father works on heavy trucks as well. Not so much of the straightening, but plenty of suspension and stuff. He says you are very good at what you do, plus you make him laugh! He had me post this on his behalf. I have posted a few videos on my channel of his “shop class”.
I'm not a wrecker operator, but I sure do appreciate you recognizing that they are not the problem in most cases, and they have a tough job. They generally are there to help solve problems, but most of the time they also gotta worry about it getting traffic flowing again...I'm new to your channel, but have loved all I've seen so far. Good common sense, with some humor and a great personality! Thanks!
Ima ultra heavy tow truck driver Didn’t know they twist most when stood up on the rubbers… but I’m happy to hear we’re keeping y’all busy… blame the driver not the tow man tho you know? No big dealio tho
I meant it in a light and giddy mood, it’s hard to project the vibe I’m carrying when talking thru text/type.. but I assure you I meant no negativity whatsoever but I appreciate your input
It's enjoyable to watch a very knowledgeable person do his work and I can tell that he loves his work and makes it enjoyable to watch. I love everything about construction
Cool of you to give tow truckers some respect. Often a thankless job that can never be done fast enough to satisfy people. Good explanation on how you practice your craft, and crazy how much you have to twist it. Have you ever had a motor fall completely out of the mount brackets since you twist hard and remove the bolts?
New a guy that parked his truck in a ditch every nite at the right angle to get the twist out. It took awhile but eventually she got right. Now I'm gonna go get right thanks Bendin
Didn't think the frames could be twisted that much...WOW! And I used to drive a log truck. So, I've experienced some frame flex. It's cool as hell the first time you experience it and that's when you realize just how much engineering and thought goes into truck frames behind the scenes.
Thank you for these videos. Engineers seem to be only concerned with designing and building. Your videos are great at showing repairing back to engineering specs. All mechanical/design engineers should be required to spend 6 months in a repair facility like yours.
I worked at a GMC dealers body shop in the 70's. We had an old Bear frame machine for the big trucks. What a workout working that machine like being a weight lifter all day. At 70 I stick to dents and scratches now
You help people realize what can be done if you know what you want and how to get that. Straightening a truck frame requires lots of chains and hydraulic jacks, and all of it's heavy and hard to deal with. There's a certain amount of art mixed in with the science and physics of straightening a frame, and your shop seems to have captured the mix well. You do good work and using the beams and columns of the shop itself is genius for showing just how jacked up something was, compared to how it turned out. Thanks for the video!
Great video. Loved to see it in action and further explanation with the chains and cylinders. Glad you remembered the button for the 2nd release. Holyshit that's nuts.
Amazing content superb information. Keep up the great work! Your videos get better with each one you put up. If you can could you do a video on drive line angles with the ins and outs on that? Youve done videos on axel alignments and shimming with great information. Just wanting to see more
Bought a new 379 Pete with a 260 " wheel base in 1989. Always had a tracking problem, took it to a frame shop and they hung the loops the length of the frame had a definite arc to it. Straighten it under warranty, month later went right back.
Im totally clueless about your expertise' Ive worked on my own vehicles since 18 and stupid' now at 58 and probly still stupid' yet you get your master points across better then anyone I've ever known of ' Thank you! 🛠️ Blessings always to you!
You should have played some Twisted Sister in this video dang! I didn’t realize you could twist a semi frame like that with everything still connected for the most part👍🏻
I very much enjoy your videos I have done some light free work never had access to heavy truck equipment always a pleasure to watch I can tell it's not your first go around the camber correction by bending the front axil I have have never seen anyone do it only people cry about how they can't do it maybe don't know how always enjoyable 👍
I started watching your efforts as I'm a diesel mechanic and was interested in your tech info and that pointer.... BUT I subscribed for the most impressive mullet on RU-vid.
I know nothing about trucks except that they are very expensive. I'm amazed that you can take something that is "useless" and make it functional again.
i had no idea you can bend metal back and forth like this until i started rust repair and seeing first hand how many times you have to fold some metals back and forth for them to finally break
I'll never forget coming home from work one day and getting stuck in traffic, and when I got close enough to see the accident, it was a tractor trailer that was hauling coils of steel that was coming on the road from the onramp, and he cut the turn too short, and the back wheels of the trailer climbed onto the concrete jersey and the trailer was twisted 90 degrees.
That truck did a helluva dance but looks like came out really straight that's all that matters I am cutting trucks apartment before to take that much twist out now my brother has a state-of-the-art Bender would you return a frame and half he's not careful excellent job God bless you and your family have a great evening
