Not after he said that a hard game should not have an easy mode. That is like a cardinal sin to those "I have no time despite this being my job" or "after years I just don't enjoy games anymore but it's my money maker so I will deal with them while complaining that they don't make my job even easier then it already is" guys.
@Tidder T a filthy casual rather... I'm also not sure if he is telling the truth, what he says sounds more like false accuracy. If he is not sure he has killed 16 or 17 bosses surely he must have had some recollection of the fight with the last one he has beaten or the boss he is stuck at right? but no, he gives us no impression of any of that at all.
Genichiro was the point where parrying finally clicked. I was able to beat every other boss with the power of DODGE but that fucking boi punishes any dodge that isn’t for a perilous attack.
I've watched an older video recently and I couldn't stand it. It's so damn odd when they sit on opposite sides and I'm more than glad, its the right order now :D
it made me a different kind of angry honestly and when i beat a boss i was fucking yelling at them with ''HOW DID THIS BLADE FEEL HUH BITCH or the HOW DOES IT FEEL NOW I KILLED YOU BITCH'' lets just say the household was not all too happy with me.
Man I never played demon souls but I randomly saw an article about dark souls 1 like a yr or 2 after release talking about how its a hard gm and so I went to GameStop picked it up for 30 bucks..... THE SINGLE GREATEST PURCHASE I EVER MADE Lol. Have played every soulsborne game since. Liking sekiro but ima be honest I just can't wait till bloodborne 2.
Yeah, discovered it on accident, was inbetween games, bored and looking for something to play, browseing the titles. Guy in the shop said it was a good game and also showed me dark souls 1 said it was the sequel, bought them both. The game felt unique in an invitingly playable way right from the moment you took control of the character then as it all unfolded i was totally absorbed and hooked into the new experience. Platinumed every single one. Each one among the best games I've ever played. Psn user name solyd
@@rams3955 heres to hoping they learned to keep miyazaki for the sequel lol. The one game on the souls record that dipped to average happened to be when miyazaki wasnt there. Heres to hoping they understand to keep the genius on board this time.
@@Joker-nh6dd yo ima b honest I love dark souls 2 Lol. Idk wat it is about it. Maybe its majula and the best music theme in the entire series lol. Like I love the story of DS 1 best the setting of DS 2 best and the combat from DS 3 best.... And bloodborne is just all of those put together haha
@@rams3955 good for you, glad you enjoy it. Its not a bad game just didnt have the same magic to me and most compared to the others. For me it was the uninteresting enemies, hitboxes, and it didnt have that twisted miyazaki imagination. Also fuck the deer, you know what i mean
@@mostlypixels2975 Only journalist and steam reviewers have the balls to call a game bad because they cant be bothered with the learning curve. "started rimworld on hardcore and got stomped, bad game." Makes me want to puke.
@@LW-kq3wm i had a big time rimworld addiction some weeks ago, right from the moment i touched it, but then overnight i was over it and went back to factorio lol but yeah i started on the easiest mode just to get used to stuff, gotta say the game can get fuckign brutal pretty quickly if you move the slider up just a bit and get shit RNG, but yeah that's RNG for ya. but staying on the lowest difficulty forever of the regular gm (not randy random), hardly gives you anything to sustain a long play nicely either, you'll get resource starved and bored, the lowest difficulty actually destroys the true game experience too, it's kind of shit, unless you want to play the sims in 2d i guess :) but yeah, from my own experience, it isn't an easy game, certainly not coming in still wet complaining about the difficulty, fair enough, i could see how people not used to the type of game may have trouble getting into the micromanagement, or even how every item works and what does what but complaining about the difficulty when you choose to make it difficult, and not even giving it the time to learn what does what is teh stupidest shit i've ever heard lol
I think Bloodborne is my favourite so far, although I haven't started Sekiro yet. It's that perfect balance of setting, story, and mechanics. I feel like Souls does the setting just as good (if not better), but the story is more mismatched, and the mechanics aren't quite as interesting and smooth. The trick weapons and the more aggressive gameplay really do it for me. I still have over 200 hours in DS3 though, so it's not like I don't think that's not amazing too lol.
That's the ultimate test man... I mean... You can get trapped on situations no one ever saw coming. you can get banned for actually doing things that are there! It's like, you have to be on 'nother mind leva to play that game!
Im at a boss later on and i love how the first time you fight someone you get beat hard and think this is impossible and then you just pull through it, some are crazy aswel with how much speed they move around. I swear every boss has a massive reach or a long ass sword while yours is crazy small, you do have to rely on your dodge and jumping so much.
Yeah, so far he also has been my favourite fight, even tho i wish phase 3 was a lot harder. Once you get his moves down, and manage to deflect all attacks ... it's just glorious. Can't wait to fight his teacher eventually .... i hope.
@@solid_snake9708 Her moves aren't that bad, since she doesn't really have many moves. And all of them are deflectable, so just stand there and figure out the timings ^^
He falls in love and then goes and plays DS and BB! Another converted! I LOVE hearing how they address why these games CANNOT ever have an easy mode. I like to think that Activision sat down with From and said, let’s make this a bit more accessible by adding a progressive tutorial, maybe some resurrection, maybe eliminate some complex rpg elements. Let’s make this for everyone. And Miyazaki smiled and said OK. And then went and built a hard as hell game around these ideas.
Activision actually gave them full creative freedom, shocking enough for them.. they wanted a game outside of what they're normally known for. Went to FromSoft hoping to do a new Tenchu, which it did start out as a new Tenchu, but changed into it's own thing.
Activision is a publisher. they have very little to do with the actual game production. From wanted to make a souls-like game that isnt Dark souls just like BB. Sekiro is very challenging and demands a tutorial for all its functions.
@@CommieApe publishers can have quite a bit to say about a game they're publishing and bankrolling, moreso if they own the studio. But with this Miyazaki said they came to From and that Activision gave them freedom to make what they wanted. Also Miyazki has said he doesn't want to make anymore Souls-like games and Sekiro isnt a Souls-like, it's just a Ninja Gaiden/Tenchu-like action game, with a high difficulty like those games had. FromSoft games just have a certain feel to them and mistakenly get lumped together in the same subgenre.
@@keskes1338 yeah.. Dark Souls and Bloodborne sure do have the freedom of mobility that Sekiro does... definitely not like the fast jumping around and ninja tool usage of Ninja Gaiden or Tenchu.
ya really , want to go retro for a laugh go get blood two cut off a zombies head in graveyard and then play soccor with it.....thats what we did in college
Do it man, you won't regret it. You probably will within a couple of hours of playtime, but if you keep going eventually you'll realize that it was worth it.
im in the same boat, never miss a myazaki game, but parry to kill? fuck that lol. but tbf this ain't a soulsbourne game, it's a tenchu spiritual successor , entirely different game.
It is the shock factor of these games that make us run away but as soon as you give yourself a chance then you are hooked because it feels real to the point in where each little enemy poses a real threat.
Aiden McGeehan I found her extremely easy. Took me less than half an hour to beat her. I’m not proud to say that it took me 4 hours to beat Genichiro and 5 hours for another boss in the same location.
Same... Though I am still stuck on her and getting close to 7-8 hours of tries on her. Will mention that I have only 3 beads so no upgrades yet, only have shuriken thingie and some skills, including whirlwind, 2 healing gourds only and it's my first boss.
@Distinctly - ST MD - Average Thanks a lot for the advice! I exactly feel like if I had a bit more posture at times or hp/gourds to take care of butterflies damage in phase 2, it would have been a kill sometime ago.
Butterfly lady killed me 14x2 times... At the 15 time I memorised the pattern and didn't die once.... I came to this game from Warframe and other not difficult games. I Almost went crazy.
I am also a souls-borne newbie, never played DS or BB, the game that ushered me in to this genre was nioh, man, that game stole my heart, i always thought these games were too hard for me too. And i can say with great pride, I absolutely love sekiro. I think its the Japanese environment and feel to these games that makes me love them so much, after almost finishing sekiro, i may have to go try DS and BB. Long story short, i myself, fully converted 100%. I am DEEPLY looking forward to Nioh 2 though. My heart is indeed ready.
@@condor6327 oh dude i was hooked like a crack addict lmao. WOTN difficulty and abyss were just amazing, got my 750, but never completely fulfilled my desire on nioh, i will have to revisit before 2 comes out. I was desperate to make a viable spear build as the hyabusa katana build was absolutely everywhere it got a little stagnant for me lol. I felt i had to run that sword skill with hyabusa (unsheath one shot from behind bs) can't remember what it was called. So I'll definitely be going back after sekiro. Edit soon after this post i remembered the skill name ie quickdraw i think
Been here so long I've seen you guys switch sides, change your memorabilia in the background, drop merch, guest star thiccboi, and watched sam grow some facial hair. What a roller coaster it's been, can't wait to see you guys continue to grow.
The difference skill makes in this game is astounding. The first time you run up to a boss and don't know what you're doing you'll be murdered in 10 seconds flat, but once you've mastered that fight, you can go up in their face, exploit their openings and attack relentlessly, parry every single attack, and kill them in about a minute. All with the same equipment, same stats, same everything. Stripping back the stats and RPG elements in this game was perfect because you can't overlevel and cheese your way through encounters anymore, and you're forced to fight each boss "properly"
Same here bloodborne is my favorite one even after playing all of them. The environments, the weapons, the characters and even after dying 600 times at the end.
@@themanyfacesofpaulgato9447 Thanks for the reply and help but I don't think so, The Gold Saucer is alot more upbeat and happy, it reminds me of nine's Border Village Dali but I'm sure its not it.
Demons Souls was my introduction to all these. The amount of adrenaline released when you got another player invading you was so crazy. Never experienced that before. I have to see what this one has to offer.
Sam buddy remember the mechanics change in each game. And I Hartley recommend Bloodborne next. Good luck to you and welcome to the SoulsNinjaBorne club
Rick roll at the end almost killed me, started giggling like an idiot, while at work, which i definitively shouldn't do if i want to watch Lamon Gamon vids without anyone noticing :(
this is beautiful. As a SoulsBorne fan from way back in 2009, who gave up on Demons' Souls until a friend encouraged me to give it another shot, seeing Sam catch the bug is just awesome
Sekiro made me feels like I'm playing Dark Souls for the first time again I have finished all souls game at least once and I find Sekiro to be the hardest for me, it took me so long to get used to the mechanic and at first I feel like some bosses are just impossible to beat but a couple day later and I'm halfway through the game somehow Anyway if Sam could do it, anyone could, casual gamer should not miss out on Souls games just because you are afraid of challenges because it really is an experience worth having
I think the move-set of the enemies is what is hard about Sekiro, if you have been to the temple and seen the guys wearing straw coats (Mino) you know what im talking about lol..
My problem is I am time-poor! :'( I don't have 3 hours to spend trying to fight one boss. It's the same story with every Soulsborne game I've played (BB, DS, Nioh), I play it and love it, right up until I hit a particular boss that I cannot figure out. Limited time means I usually have to put it down somewhere in the middle of making progress, and often after a few nights of that I just never pick it up again.
@@Rigel_6 not really actually, bloodborne kinda I guess but DS2 and 3 is basically the same as DS with few update, demon souls I play after DS so it doesn't feel different either
Some games are just hard for no good design reason. The NG games were hard enough on their "normal" settings. The hardest ones are just plain masochistic. Go try Battletoads with 2 players and feel hardness like head-bumping a diamond.
François Coupal I have never played battle toads, but my wife and her cousins have told me the stories. They all used to play it when they were young. I gotta try it myself one of these days. One good thing about ninja gaiden is that in each difficulty increase you have to evolve your play style. On normal I remember blocking a lot and using the big sword to cut off the heads of trash mobs. But in hard and very hard blocking and retaliating with a heavy hit didn’t work at all. In hard, new enemies were introduced that would lunge and grab you, rendering the turtle play style useless. Blocking was still a huge part of staying alive, but mobility became king in hard and very hard difficulty. I thought that was genius from the developers of ninja gaiden. Each play through would force you to get better by introducing new enemies that encourage the player to adopt a different kind of play style. But never completely rendering useless the what the player learned in the previous play through. It was a truly great experience.
Pieces of art that break the norm, paintings, movies, video games, are just as worth watching, seeing, playing as the mainstream content. Red Dead 2 conforms to almost every mechanic that is found in mainstream games, and I love it for what it is. Sekiro is the opposite. Sekiro breaks the norm, just like every other Soulsborne game, and I love these games for that because it's part of their design and they execute this perfectly. Don't try to conform games you don't like to mimic games you do like, just enjoy every game for what it is and for what it does well. Love games for what they are, don't hate them for what they aren't.
I was in the same boat as Sam back in 2011. Mainly played shooters and easy stuff. Then I bought DS1 on a whim because I saw a friend playing it. I've been hooked on the series ever since. And have invested more time in fromsoftware titles than easily any other game.
When tried DS and BB my issue wasn't the difficulty so much as lack of motivation. I never really felt rewarded so I never got a sense of what I was supposed to be doing
Oof, i played them all and think Sekiro is the hardest (bloodborne around same difficulty), I honestly think Sam will now go back to Dark Souls and go wow...this really isnt that bad.
It's not just the combat i hate about Souls games an the friggin stamina management, it's the f*cking penalties for dying over and over again... Losing you're gear, losing you're progress and losing repetitively.
Sam Sam.... no one for sec believes you actually play anything but Overwatch for more than 30mins. We are here for Thicc Boi and Skill Up and your memes skillz
There really is something special about these games. It’s impossible to explain it to people, but I love it when they say, “I’ve played this game, and I finally ‘get it.’”
Just happened to me this past month. Got on Game Pass and found a game called Mortal Shell. It almost broke me (I’m a casual at best) but I kept coming back and now I’m in love with this type of game; and get to look forward to playing all the FromSoft titles.
I wouldn’t Sekiro a soulslike. It’s def different but getting Sekiro is like learning a beat to a song. U gotta make the swords sing ultimately. Once u learn the rhythm ur good.
@@kaelinfrancis4965 ya I think they are counting mini bosses too. But there are some hidden boss fights too like demon of hatred and great shinobi owl at Hirata Estate plus the other drunkard but I would say he’s a mini boss. They probably called all NPC’s wit boss looking health bosses
@@kaelinfrancis4965 I love it. It actually motivated me to get platinum. All I need is severence ending and I got it. Never felt like getting all the special combos but since they did the update I was like fuck it let’s do this. Lol. Sakura Dance is probably the best one besides Ichimonchi double and one mind. One mind fucks shit up. Especially if they aren’t blocking it
Ralph mention of wow was very on point. People that are doing raids for the first time get "scared" because they think everything is happening at the same time.
PVE people don't know shit about frustration until they try PVP. The only thing to make me rage in the whole saga (other than DkS2 but it doesn't count as a Souls) was the PVP.
It is punishing, and that is what makes the Souls/Borne genre such an amazing experience! Once u suss that fight out, well the feeling u get is just pure exhilaration. Love the level design and the secret pathways. From the mechanics to the look of the world and enemies, the bosses are cool as fooook. The level design, it is all just mwaaaaaaa.
I'm far from being a hardcore gamer but I'm loving Sekiro. I completely agree that being hard is part of the experience. The only enemy that is getting me frustrated so far is the Long Shadow Swordsman because sometimes it feels that I loose not because I did something wrong but because I'm having to fight the camera.
I’m a casual and dived into a shorter Souls like called Mortal Shell about a month ago. I’m just starting to get it, and man, it’s so addictive. I still swear blue murder from time to time, but I’m glad I persisted and now can look forward to FromSoft’s entire ouvre! Definitely worth the many many hours to climb up the learning curve. I’ve finally seen the light, I mean, dark!
it's like me when I played dark souls for the first time, it changed my life in a good way, I had played hard games before, but never got so compelled to just keep pushing
First time I played Demon's Souls I was completely blown away. I tried going back to play Uncharted...but it just doesn't scratch that itch. I got bored of it super fast (even though I loved playing through it at first). Souls are just lifechanging.
I watched a guide on Butterfly and got her second try. With a good idea of what to do to get her, she's not that tough. BUT I also got to her later because I forgot I had the key to access the area, so I was beefier than I would have been had I gone the second I could to fight her.
Sekiro is something Special, in terms of Combat its unique. Even As a Soulsborne Veteran,it was a Blast for me,its perfect Balanced. The Game Tests you constantly and Force you to learn the Combat System like a Cruel Demonic Teacher. And i love it!
