Too much over simplification . Nation built on religion doesn't have to go one way , or they can still decide what kind of role religion will play . Religion can be limited to a nation identity. That also depends on the religion on which country is being built , All religions are not same . It's would be very lame to assume that since Nigeria or Iran is like this or a hindu nation would be no different .this is infact an example of using analogies as per convenience .

if you want to know about reality Let me tell you Your india is a 75 year man made nation state which divides humans by creating man made borders and it has a man made concept of sovereignty and to protect that it is killing Kashmiris who do not want to live under its occupation . And it has created mass destructive nuclear weapons to protect so called sovereignty. Guess which is more destructive to humans . Man made religions or man made nation states ?
