A friend forgot about antifreeze for his ‘89 VW Polo during one harsh winter. It froze solid but didn’t crack the block or pop out any core plugs. What did happen though was the water pump couldn’t turn, and as the timing belt relies on the pump for tension it ripped through the teeth on the belt throwing the timing completely out. Fortunately it wasn’t an interference engine so all was fine after fitting a new belt.
Heres a video of a gas engine running on crude oil by Project Farm ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L99EybPORKk.html Also, heres a video of using diesel as engine oil by Project Farm ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OraBMAEF5rs.html Just if you wanted to know.
That reminds me of an idea I had a few years ago... find some old Mopar muscle car, or pretty much anything else with an ignorant and rabid fan base. Pull the driveline out and swap in a Civic engine driving the front wheels. Then take it to car shows and watch everyone's brains melt. Bonus points if it actually looks good on the outside.
William J. Barnhart Jr. my dad used to tell a story of taking a junket out to a fried, putting a brick on the engine till it was screaming hot and throwing buckets of water on it, would love to see this on RU-vid
Its a 6 cylinder making it not really economical to drive around russia plus the engine like he said was not in best of shape probably some blowby low oil pressure making it not worth rebuilding as engine itself doesnt have much potential and would get swapped ecentually..So I see no torture here
1:48 “Im a big fan of this device. The common name for it is quite vulgar.” Immediately pauses video and frantically searches google with no results. Im dying to know what you call this thing. Speakers of Russian. Please tell me what the name is.
Run at full throttle and discharge unregulated nitrous oxide into the intake somewhere after the airflow sensor. For god's sake don't stand inline with the connecting rods of a engine that might blow up. In front of or behind the crankshaft only! NEVER alongside of it!
Deksam101 ford did this with a rare model of a 1920’s model A I want to say. It was an inline 4, and the head had 3 cylinders that ran, and 1 cylinder that had a compressor style valve on the head. Very interesting. I’d love to see a 50/50 split with an inline 6 or v8
That sounds good but how about pouring some liquid cement in to repair the holes, and the acid of a spare battery into the fuel, and then putting a brick on the accelerator pedal and stand back. That would be an important piece of engineering data, as an advanced steam cleaning treatment for the cylinders and I recommend it to help to make the engine run quieter. Battery acid should clean the moving parts and make it run smoother, and clean up the emissions 👍
I concur 100% about the engine fluid pump at 1:44 I've been using a manual version for over 10 years to do my oil changes! It still works like a charm and Danggit! yeah I love that thing!
Im a Chevy guy and I agree they are bulletproof just leave it up to me friend to blow them 08 535 and a 16 550 with 40k his luck was shit but I know BMW makes one of the best engines outther
@DrJman's Place Or how about giving it a nice shiny 12.7mm Dushka "air intake". Most engines perform better when they're able to breathe better....hee, hee, hee!
Car chats.. Modern cars(like Evs👉liken Tesla complaining about fuel quality, roads being not good . BMW in Russia:Hold my beer ,sons and grand sons you don't know how much I have been going through, I drank water, ice but am still alive ..
If it has not expired yet, bring it to high rpm and construct a funnel to the throttle body and immediately dump a gallon of water in. That should throw a connecting rod right out the side or bottom. If not, use 2 gallons, etc
Experiment idea: Mix gearbox oil with wood chip (small pieces of wood which are produced when sawing a wood) and pour it in a worn (noisy, hard shifting) gearbox. Then drive with it and see if the noises and shifting are improved.

HISTORY LESSON- i live in a place where the lake doesnt freezze in a certain area due to geo thermal stuff and back in the day they thought that the water was "special" and they used to use it for coolant...... you can guess what happens next lol
When I was a kid, my Dad drove us 2000 miles across Europe for our holidays in his car with a cracked engine block after it froze in winter. I shared the back seat with 10 cans of spare engine oil and a couple of gallons of water but we made it.
@Martyn Watson Total horse shit. I've see many M20 engines manage 300-400k miles with just regular maintainance. My last e30, a 320 had 385k on the clock when I sold it.
