You had me at Riesling friend. I honestly don't know why Rieslings not used more in cocktails in general but what i really can't believe that I didn't think to do this first myself. So hey... Cheers to you and Doc Parks 🥂

What I love about this too is that it seems like a great use for leftover wine! Can't wait to try other drinks with this syrup!

Very interesting! Not a huge wino except for cooking. Now I have a use for left over wine when I'm done. Thanks!

I have been experimenting with the wine syrup and it works amazingly well with grapefruit juice, and equal parts gin and different amaro's

My wife is a Pinot Grigio fan, tried it with that instead, after knocking the sugar back to 1/2oz we have a winner ! Cocktail of the summer!

The minerality and bright shining flavor of dry Rieslings really adds something refreshing to them that (to my palate) is much more than a simple shift in dryness. Not to undercut your “use what you feel like” advice just excited to work with this syrup idea! Been messing around with claret (and sake) syrups recently and kinda gobsmacked this one didn’t occur to me as a dry white wine fan!

How about Sherry Syrup with Fino or Manzanilla?

Hmm, a sugarcane-juice-based rum, I wonder if a rhum agricole might fit the bill, and if so, what a cachaça or clairin might do to the mix. What do you think? Either way, I guess I've got some experimenting ahead of me. 🥂

Probably your least favorite question, but what’s shelf life on this? How long before that wine starts to oxidize and change the syrup flavor?

No idea. I’m keeping mine in the freezer and it even pours around 0 degrees F

Love the channel, but claiming that sweet riesling isn’t good wine flies in the face of the entire German wine industry. The best German rieslings, which are among the greatest white wines in the world (and better than anything Napa produces), have significant residual sugar.

@makeanddrink Месяц назад
I didn't say that. I was specifically referring to Polka Dot, which was very popular in the mid 2000s mainly with younger generations because it was sweet and low ABV. People got the idea that all Reisling was that way, and that has held over and is why many Americans today don't gravitate toward any Reisling. But if someone out there appreciates Polka Dot then more power to them. And the brand I used is from Germany, and I enjoyed it. I never implied that Napa was better than Germany in making Reisling.
