It's because our reptilian brain still believes that the tiger is in the room. Our brains are wired for survival and self preservation. Our sensory system is designed to detect threats, problems and develop solutions. @markavatar1296 death is only enlightenment, if it is the death of the ego, while, you are still alive. What are you left with? Yours true Self. Yours higher Self. That is the Self that cares about your survival. The ego is like a computer that runs, loops of your conditioning and beliefs, like cycles through your life. Only when you realize this, can bring awareness to it, and see it for what it is.
