Unfortunately, my Black Ghost Knife Fish has died. I don't see signs of illness or injury, so at 9 years old I want to say he reached the average lifespan of his species.
Not the best news to hear, however it proves that you show everything and that's something you don't see often enough on youtube, the BGK being 8 years with you is still a very respectable age and it really puts into perspective the time and dedication it takes to keep a fish for this long, sorry for your loss.
Sorry about your Ghost Knife. Lifespans can vary within a species for fish as they do with people, so you can't expect every individual to reach the upper limit.
Question, what do you think about rearranging cichlid tanks? Is it good to rearrange every so often to help calm aggression or do you find it makes aggression worse to change the decor. Ty Ty
Usually rearranging the tank restructures territories so if you have a fish that's overly aggressive its a good move that will help calm it down with the confusion of territory. However if your tank is at peace, the confusion of territory from a rescape could encourage lower ranker fish to challenge others. I usually only rescape if I have someone being overly aggressive
