I just want to say - the fact that you can eat so independently shows how much you are smashing recovery. It is a journey, but your ability to go places with friends and eat at your boyfriends, that is something so many people struggle to do, because eating with family becomes safe. You are doing amazing, you are amazing x

Everyone who is recovering from or adjusting to idea that they may be living with an eating disorder is amazing. Eating disorders only ever pick on fighters, and self love and self acceptance are some of the many things that you gain as you go on your recovery journey. We can beat these internal bullies, deprive yourself of solitude and isolation and you’ll be on to a winner. Your eating disorder wants you to its self.

I feel like people don’t talk enough about how difficult dealing with periods can be during and after ED recovery. I’ve been recovered for over 3 years now, but still my TOM can really set me back mentally. However, reminding myself there’s a very real reason (hormones etc) my brain and body feel different helps ever so slightly. Keep going with your recovery journey ❤️

@Sakina.Y
@Sakina.Y 2 года назад
To the lovely Ro: When I saw the notification for this video I beamed, I was so proud and excited for you. I’ve been following your recovery since about month 3. To see how many hurdles you’ve jumped, fear-foods you’ve faced and milestones you’ve marked have been nothing short of a privilege to witness. I’ve seen you go from using the same heart shaped, white bowl and childhood spoon with the red plastic handle for practically every meal without fail; to not knowing what vessel or utensils I’ll see in the next clip; to witnessing the first time in a long while that your parents made you a cup of tea or a meal. I can’t tell you how proud I am to see you finally fuel yourself with confidence. I love watching you increasingly become the you-est you. A fully self-actualized, adult you, a you with increasingly full freedom, a you with happiness and contentment, and a you that has enough grace, self love and compassion to assert and honor your needs whatever they may be. I know you still have a ways to go; but my goodness the ground you’ve covered is immense. We both know that any form of recovery and healing has its peaks and valleys; and by no means is recovery linear. One thing that I can say, is that the next valley, whenever and however it may be, you have set yourself up in such a way that the next valleys will always be at a higher set point than your last. Long story short my dear, well done. Thank you for sharing your journey and imparting your support, advice and nuggets of wisdom. Much love to you, Ro. Here’s to more happiness, improvement and many more opportunities to live life to the fullest. ❤️ -Sakina

I was so happy when I saw that you made a new video. I’m in anorexia recovery and it’s so hard and frustrating honestly. I feel like I’m so slow but at the same time I feel like each bite of food has an impact, idk how to explain it. I started recovery since since February I think, but very slowly at first (which I think is normal) and I have pushed myself sooo much since the beginning of the year. But I think that I mainly slowed my weight loss, and that I have still lost some weight this year... I feel like I will never see the end of anorexia, because seeing that my progress is (too) slow is really deceiving but at the same time reassuring in some way, once again it’s difficult to explain :/ I want sooo much to find the same courage that you found to push through recovery, I really do want to find my old life back. You’re doing so great ,it’s amazing to see 🥰

YAY RO!! You are doing SO much better! We all love seeing your growth through it all! I actually did some resurch, and when people say you need to have 3 exact meals a day is kind of wrong in a sense. Our bodys were actually made to eat almost every 2 hours! So when you are hungry you eat a snack! I love how you are more aware and intentional about intuitive eating because someone with anorexia, it almost disapears and you dont know if your hungry or full or not. Sending my love ro! Cant wait to buy some of your shirts!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH. your videos have helped me more than you will ever know, i just got my period back and im feeling really guilty about it and about continuing to eat a normal amount. this video made me realise that i'm really proud of you when i see you eat or reach for that extra biscuit, and i really want you to fully recover, so why dont i want those things for myself? seeing you enjoy food as part of your life has given me motivation to keep going because honestly i was on the brink of relapse. i cried through the whole video because the guilt you used to feel is what im feeling right now, and now i have hope that that guilt will pass with time. i just have to be patient and kind with myself and my mind. you can't rush recovery, it's gonna take my mind time to adjust to eating more and my 'new' body. one day i hope that i too can reach the point you are at now, where im able to see things more clearly and rationally. thank you for giving me hope and making me feel less alone.

Hi Ro! Throughout this video you mentioned "if you are hungry and you are eating it is the right thing to do," which I agree with, but what advice would you have for people in recovery who don't really seem to feel hungry/interested in food? This is a problem I am coming up against that has been making me skip regular meals and snacks. Eating a meal when I am not hungry feels like the 'wrong' thing to do. What would your advice be? hi love! i’m not ro, but i can offer you a piece of advice. eat even if you’re not hungry. i know it may feel wrong at the beginning but your hunger cues may be screwed up from a long period of restriction, that’s why you may not feel hungry! the more you eat, the more likely that your body will start sending you hunger cues again and accommodating to proper fuel! if it sees that there’s no restriction anymore and that you won’t ignore it’s signals, it will start sending them again. i went through this at the beginning of recovery too, and it sucked. but you really just have to eat and push past the uncomfortable feeling. maybe schedule time for your meals and snacks if you’re not hungry? after you get your hunger cues back, your body will tell you when it’s hungry, but since right now it doesn’t and you still need fuel, maybe that would be a good solution? if it feels “wrong” it’s probably the right thing to do! sending you love xx

@@shrekscumdumpster2834 yes this is completely true! I was also not experiencing any hunger in the beginning of my recovery and i felt soo guilty for eating then. But after a month of consistently eating at the same time everyday i got my hunger cues back. At first i was so afraid to ask for some food at a totally different time but my therapist was soo happy i did cus that meant my hunger cues were coming back. And they did:)

Ro also talked about it in a video, where she said that she has to stick to eating breakfast, than snack, than lunch, than snack, than dinner, than snack because her mind would go like „I am not hungry“ or „I don’t like that/sweets etc.“ so just try to stick for it till you feel hunger

One year ago I got severely sick and was admitted to the hospital, was put on morphine for two weeks with a neck infection, anemia + pneumonia I had an extra sound in my heart, my vision was blurry in my left eye and the cause is still unknown. The scariest part about this eating disorder is the fact that I was grateful I was too sick to eat and after losing 10 pounds in one week I desperately wanted to be sick again :( thank u for posting this video it helps so much

oh it's kind of nice to see that someone else feels the same way about periods :] I haven't gotten mine back yet but my doctor told me I really need to get it back soon but in my mind I really don't want it back but I know that I need it back if I want to get better and stay in my activities. I just want to say thank you so much for all you have said and I'm so proud of you for how far you've come! I've been inspired and motivated by many things you've said to recover^^

I do not have a diagnostic eating disorder but I am obese which is an obvious symptom for me not having healthy eating habits. I found that video really inspiring, because for me it's the opposite: I do not see myself as fat as I am and eat way beyond my hunger...yet both strive for the same thing: healthy eating habits and a nice balance between honoring your appetite and not over/underestimating it. Thank you so much for sharing!

Hi there Ro I know I’m a few hours late but this is totally a welcome surprise to the end of the day . I have a fairly large part in my school play (mid - unwanted - relapse in my Ed too what the heck timing why ?!) and it’s so chaotic and my disorder is going crazy but you are a wave of calm after a tsunami of pre stage jitters . When I was super nervous at dress rehearsals I kept this channel and the fab viewers of ot in the back of my subconscious and it strangely really helped ! So yeah sorry ramble over but thank you x100000!

Hey Ro, i am 4 months in "all in" recovery, after being done with suffering and restricting, relationships getting broken and experiencing " extreme hunger". i gained a lot and i mean a lot of weight the last time i weighed myself so i actually stopped weighing. since im getting stronger and stronger physically my eating disorder is screaming.. yesterday i called with an "old friend" and she told me about people talking about how much weight i lost and how beautiful i looked and bla bla bla.. but in reality i was in a relapse, i was underweight, my hair was falling out, my period went away, i was cold all the time, i experience extreme anxiety.. and my doctor told me from the results of my bloodtests that my liver and kidneys would give up if i kept going.. point of the story is.. please please please never tell people they look "sooo healthy and good" after losing weight because u truly have no idea what is hiding behind it.. maybe somebody is experiencing an illness, or a medication complication, or hypermetabolism.. u NEVER know.. and when i was "thin and beautiful" i was actually dying.. my actual question for u is.. do u have any advice for when u gain weight and people don't even recognize u anymore because of the weight gain or anything? because my weight gain caused me to hide and feel ashamed of myself and my body... even though i know i am healthier.. i dont know what to do..
