Hi Megan! I just wanted to make you aware of botulism!! I’m very scared of it and if you don’t use a pressure canner for chicken/meat you could get it!

The oven doesn't make the chicken hot enough to kill botulism. You would for sure have to heat it up really good before using in sandwiches if not pressure canned.

I don't know much about canning, but my mother and grandmother had 100 years of canning between the two of them and they never had a pressure canner. All they had was a pot of boiling water and glass jars with rubber seals. Megan's chicken was boiling in the oven, and the lids were sealing (you could hear them), so how would that be dangerous?

@@carolberubee water bath canning is different from canning in the oven (for some foods water bath canning is perfectly safe, but oven canning is not recommended at all). And neither are recommended for meat anymore due to botulism risks.

@@caitlynwinkler4189 Interesting. My mother was canning meat for mince meat pie 50 years ago, and her mother before that. Everyone in New England was just using a water bath for all kinds of foods and no one got sick. To each his own, I guess.

And just to let you know you have 2 lovely children I love how they are helping around the house, it makes them more appreciate what mum does when they get older. And yes it's quicker to do it yourself but kids really want to be help, and it gives them confidence in what they are achieving.

For my burgers, the aldi brioche buns are my fave! No matter what buns you use, if you heat up a skillet and add butter to grill the underside of your buns, it makes all the difference in the world... Seems like a small thing 😂

I absolutely agree with you on sippy cups!! I even have a kind of sippy for the bigger grandkids. They're really like the big, metal coffee cups with the little slit to drink out of. That way if they get knocked over, very little spills.

Please don’t “can” in the oven. It is not safe. Protect your family and RU-vid audience by following safe, tested procedures from the NCHFP and ball.

It's not really fair to say it's not safe. The USDA may not have tested it but Mennonites have been doing it this way for years. You may not choose to do it like this but everyone in the world doesn't do everything the same.

@@vickihill4777 yes! And pressure canner are not always accessible to low income families. They are also outrageously expensive in some other countries. People forget there is an entire world with different ideas of "safe". Make decisions for your own family

You also seem to forget there's an international audience here and we know worldwide that unsafe canning practises cause illness. We are all responsible for calling out bad behaviours that can harm others.

I'm not so sure I agree with you that we have a responsibility to call out bad behavior in others. If you think someone may be harmed their are more thoughtful ways to tell them than to just tell them that they are wrong. Also I never claimed that she said anything about the USDA.....you may want to re read my sentence. As for your comment on an international audience..as you may know many countries don't even sell pressure canners yet people still manage to can meat and non acid foods. So my point was there are many ways to do the same things.

Your kids are not to old for sippy cups. My three year old drinks out of a regular cup at the table but when he’s wondering around the house we give him a sippy cup. We like the 360 ones. However, for preschool he takes a Contigo water bottle. You do what works for you and your kids. Loved this video too! The breakfast looked really yummy.

A good tip with the herbal tea-flavoured water is to make it with hot water to relaease the favours and then let it cool down - we make a pitcher of it the day before (and take the tea bag out once it's sufficiently flavoured ) and then drink it throughout the next day.

Congrats again on new baby!Putting bacon on a plate with a paper towel between each layer and in top and microwaving for 8 min then check every minute. Turns out so crispy and perfect! (Just my 2 cents) 😊.

In my microwave it only takes 3 minutes and it's just a small inexpensive one but that is for the shelf stable bacon so it would certainly take longer if it was regular bacon

Great idea! We have a gas oven and stove and are trying to avoid using gas because the gas price is really high at the moment. We have been using the slowcooker and microwave more now because we have solar panels. This is a great tip to cook bacon in the microwave!

I used to take care of little human beans and one of my favourite things is when they helped me cook and clean…folding clothing that I must refold at nap time and taking them to a movie theatre and paying $20 to allow them to win a tiny party favour from the game machines in the lobby. Some days I simply don’t want to tell a child “no” so I indulge them on occasion but it’s great joy for me. Your life is rich and full of nothing but love. You deserve it! I cannot wait for your sweet baby boy and to see when the bigger babes meet their small brother. Priceless!

Lol people say that about my 4 and 2yr old and sometimes they really are! then other times... not so much haha 😆 my oldest was washing dishes yesterday while I monitored her closely (i was baking) and it was helpful, but then later she snuck in there while I was busy elsewhere and decided to wash more dishes 😉 ahhh wasn't so helpful that time lol was a mess! but I decided to thank her anyway because she was trying. ♡

New fav way to make bacon: put some water in a cookie sheet, and then place a rack in the pan with the bacon on the rack ...350 about ,15 min...makes the perfect bacon

Megan put a cookie rack (for drying) on top of the cookie sheet then you don’t even have to turn the bacon

Congratulations, for you and your wonderful family. Please dont take any offense but I'm worried about the safety of your oven canned chicken. The USDA strongly advises against this method of canning. I'm just being a worried grandma and dont want to see anything bad happen to a wonderful family. Thank you for allowing us into your home. It's a bright spot in my day when a new video comes out.

@@vickihill4777 Even the Amish don’t can in an oven (Obviously I am talking a wood cook stove oven)… All my neighbors are Amish and they have multiple pressure canners!

Well you need to do more research because I'm aware of many Amish that can in the oven and Mennonites too. My grandmother had 13 children and canned everything .....stews,meat,vegetables....in a water bath canner and everyone is fine. I'm not suggesting anyone do this today .

@@vickihill4777 hugss if you read the info on why not to oven can food one of the things they point out is dry heat does not work as well as water. I'm sure many people are just fine oven canning. My concern is it only takes one batch to be contaminated with botulism. Just because many people do something it does not validate it as being safe. It was not my intent to bring controversy to this chat. I simply have grown to care about megan and her family and wish her well no matter what choice she makes.

We are very big on water too - it's all me and the little one mostly drink. Appreciate the commercials when I watch because I am usually cooking so it works out that I can stop and focus on the food, lol. We have that book too that Fletcher had "Lets Go on a Class Trip," my daughter happened to walk into the kitchen on this part and noticed the book, I would have never caught that. I loved this whole video. I want burgers and fries now instead of what I am making. See you next time.

Ritual post natal do have a mint tab rather than the citrus. It doesn’t affect everyone but anything mint makes my milk supply TANK ps I had no idea you had a dog!!
