So glad you found the video helpful! Thank you so much for the comment! I like to use avocado oil for cooking because it has a higher smoke point (but you can also use olive oil up to 400 deg). Then, for cold dishes, salads, or finishing oil, olive oil or flax oil is great. Dairy isn't always bad, especially depending on the source. It can be a source of calcium and protein for kids. I generally reference soy milk as an alternative because it is the most similar to cow milk in macronutrient breakdown and is a source of calcium. The one that I used in the video was from Eden Foods. But it is always best to speak with your practitioner when it comes to personal diet changes! Hope that helps 💚

Great video! I appreciate your conversation/meal supporting bone health! Do you believe in taking calcium? I've read about the importance of the right form, but some people say don't take extra calcium, just take the helper supplements, the problem is more about getting calcium into the bone. I work as a cardiac sonographer and see lots of extra calcium in people's hearts. It scares me to take calcium. I take MCHC, magnesium, D3, K2-mk7, vitamin C. Sometimes I don't take the calcium. Also, if one's nutrition is good (say you eat a lot of greens) can one overdo by taking these supplements? Inspiring video! Your meals always look very tasty 😋.
@drclairelockridgend
@drclairelockridgend 2 месяца назад
I do think that there are times when a calcium supplement can be indicated; however, just like many minerals, you can take too much, especially if you are already getting a lot from your diet! We know that calcium needs to increase for women after the age of 50 due to the changes that come with perimenopause and menopause. For specific supplements, I always say it is best to work 1:1 with your practitioner! But I will also link the calcium NIH Calicum page for you, as it is a great resource: ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Calcium-HealthProfessional/ Hope that helps 💚

I can definitely talk about that more in future videos! I would just ask your ND why they don't want you to eat it! I will sometimes remove soy form patents diet if it is applicable to their health concern!

@drclairelockridgend
@drclairelockridgend 2 месяца назад
So glad that you enjoyed the content! Thank you so much for the comment!💚 A good alternative for high protein breakfasts is a tofu scrabble or a greek yogurt bowl! You can also really replace the eggs with any protein you want (chicken, fish, ect...). I made a tofu scramble a few videos back, so I will like that for you! Hope that helps 💚 Video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4yGB1FEy22M.html

This is the first comment I’ve ever made on RU-vid. Just really curious do the boiled eggs and sweet potatoes make you gassy? If not is there a way to eat them without getting too gassy? I love your videos😊. I am also just starting my journey on herbalism and naturopathic lifestyle/eating style.

Yay! I am so excited to hear that you are embarking on a health focused lifestyle! Both the eggs and sweet potatoes digest well for me (no gas). I have done a lot of work over the years to really improve my digestion, and that really plays a role in all the foods I am able to eat!

I could use some protein tips. I’m sure I never get adequate amounts. I don’t seem to like protein. Kinda just stuck on lentils 1-2 days a week. Any suggestions? Also- Indo not eat meat or dairy products
@drclairelockridgend
@drclairelockridgend 2 месяца назад
Hmm, for vegetarians Eggs, Soy (tofu, tempeh, edamame), fish (if you eat them) and other beans and legumes can be a good option. Tofu is great because there are so many ways to cook it, you can do a tofu scramble, make spring rolls, make a stir fry. Other beans and legumes can be good as well, especially if you can combine them with a grain for a complete protein. I also would say that supplementing your diet with a high quality protein powder can be helpful if you do not eat meat or dairy products. Hope that helps 💚

Hey, I will usually put it in at about 400 deg! But it is flexible, so if you are cooking other things you can just pop it in anywhere from 350-425 and just keep an eye on it! Hope that helps 💚

Is it ok to eat eggs everyday? Does it contribute to high cholesterol or is that a myth?
@drclairelockridgend
@drclairelockridgend 2 месяца назад
So we now know that dietary cholesterol does not directly correlate to lipid cholesterol. Saturated fat intake, refined sugar, and fiber also play a large role in cholesterol and those actually make up the foundation of dietary guidelines for cardiovascular disease. Hope that helps 💚
