I tried fight crabking but in the end gave up and resorted to bee mines, didnt think it was possible to fight with duelists coz it was so hectic. Well done 👍
Thank you Pock 😄😊 yeah there were some people complained Maxwell is too OP when the rework was still beta, Maxwell is powerful but it takes time (and knowledge and skill) to get all the items to make him powerful. Hope they understand as time goes 😄😊 btw lemme know if you have any question about Maxwell Pock 😄
I have questions!!!! have some form of make the Shadow servents gets the reeds set piece without them get afraid of the tentacles? and I play wickerbotton but I like to help my friend Maxwell to read my books
@@Pock4855 hmm yeah the Servants will be afraid of the tentacles, for now I haven't think the solution yet, but will find a way to do it. For now we can put a Lureplant nearby the set piece, the eyes will eat the reeds and we can harvest the reeds after defeating the lureplant, but be careful with the eyes Pock :)
Sry for the delayed response. I think i helped out with dfly and Klaus. Learned that shadow sneak works well for skipping the krampus phase or just killing them.
Yeah, I had the same worldgen, blue shroom forest genome just next to ruins. I spent 4 days looking on the other side. I've been practicing maxwell ruins rush, some notes: * I should learn how to farm nightmare fuel, you have 20, I'm always under 5, looking forward to full video of this so I can learn * really like spear at start, nice idea * ruins is HARD in the dark unless you get lucky * nice idea on shadow sneak deaggroing bishop, what was that about a torch??? * Maxwell is super good in ruins rush, squishy but just duelists can take out the bishops, hat for storage, winter's feast is also great because free wraps Haven't had time to watch all of this vid yet, but your active boss fighting style seems amazing, not just sign-trapping deer. Really nice video!
ohh spending 4 days looking on the other side aaaa >__< sometimes world generation really give us surprise isn't it? 😆 - For nightmare fuel, if there is 1-2 Splumonkeys following us, we can place a shadow sneak in front of us, then drop something and move away then summon 2 duelists. The monkeys will go to where shadow sneak placed as they wanna take the item we dropped, then they will change to shadow splumonkeys and give us nightmare fuel when defeated yey! but make sure no other groups of splumonkeys nearby 😁 - yes Spear really helped! even though it only adds 7 damage compared to axe (34 vs 27), we only need 3 hits to kill a spider with spear, compared to Axe will need 4 hits, every little thing helps 😄 - need to stock up at least 30 grass and 30 twigs if we don't have lantern yet when we go to ruins, if we have lantern, make sure we have spare grass and twigs in case we ran out of lightbulb - Enemy that hit by torch will be on fire / burning , causing them to panic and temporarily stop attacking us. Also can be temporary light source in Ruins 😆 - I usually use Wendy in rushing Ruins because of Abigail taking care of those pesky monkeys, but not much with other character. Now it's so much fun in rushing Ruins with Maxwell 😄 Yes his hat and duelists are really good for Ruins rush! Thank you Fehoobar, glad you enjoyed watching, yes I like active fighting style instead of just standing around and seeing my Duelists suffer 😆😂 Enjoy playing Maxwell 😄😊👍
7:52 There are 2 Antient Guardians, 1 is dead and 1 is in godmode... You are a ghost and if you managed to resurrect 20 spiders are waiting for you. Something is wrong I can feel it Haha Just a usual dst experience :). Nice vid
Interesting Video. I especially like your points on how maxwell is a character for more experienced players and I can see why Btw, if you made a tier list, where would you place maxwell
thank you Canele 😄😊 on a tier list, maxwell will be on S tier because not only high damage output from Duelist, he can also crowd-control minions that can affect difficulty of a fight (Grumblebees, Bishop , Varglet, etc). In early game he can gather resource very fast, in late game he also can read wickerbottom's books, getting even higher DPS from summoning grumblebees. Not to mention Shadow Prison, definitely S tier 😄😊
@@poligrant5152 Hi Poligrant, hmm I put Wigfrid on 2 separate tiers : Tier B for Experienced Players, Tier C for New players. - Tier C because Wigfrid might make new players get used in Tanking instead of kiting (thanks to her healing while attacking + dmg reduction). Kiting is important in DST haha - Tier B for experienced players because they will be able to maximize Wigfrid's damage and able to handle meat-only diet properly 😄
@@Wattata888 Nice, i think Solo she's B or A tier and with team she's S+ tier for buffs and helmets, it's my fav char even after i killed all bosses, if you can kite you have full saniity and HP after killiing few mobs
@@poligrant5152 ahhh i see, yeah for team she her healing / sanity regen is really good! i never tried Wigfrid in team play yet, i think thats why i didnt realize her potential, thanks for sharing Poligrant 😄👍
@@Wattata888 Bro, after seeing it drop I was sure you would also get one from loot stash with 10% chance and be like "Uh, what can I do with 2 krampus sacks? 😳" LMAO
You hands down have the most informative Maxwell videos on YT. I have learned so much! My wife and I love to play but frankly we are not so great although we have been playing for over 8 years together. Do you think Maxwell and Wendy/Abigail would make a good combo?
Thank you! I think Maxwell and Wendy are a great combo, since Abigail damage is area effect while Maxwell's Shadow Duelist deal single target damage, they complement each other 😄 However Maxwell will need to watch out for low max HP (75 only), keep distance from enemy with Shadow Prison if needed, also watch out Sanity from getting too low, to avoid spawning Nightmare Creatures. For Wendy, need to know when Abigail is useful or not, example Abigail is excellent for fighting Spiders but will die quickly if fighting boss / treeguards, but aside from this, should be no problem 😄 Its very sweet that you and your wife play together, lemme know if you have any questions, cheers! 😄😁
@@Wattata888 Since 2015 we have been playing together lol. We just want to get to a point where we can beat the bee queen. Surely between the both of us it shouldn't be that hard. I will focus on casting prison on the bee's so she can focus on the bee queen. Unyielding draught helps Abigail's defense quite a bit. I'll bring a bunch of sanity raising food's so I can keep supporting with duelist. I'll get her thulecite gear and I have the top hat, night armor and night sword to make the duelist stronger. idk what else to do :D Any advice would be great.
@@netwand3rer We beat her but not without theulecite gear for abigail, unyieding draught, my duelist, shadow prison & 2 flutes. I felt like we had to use too much to barely beat her lol she is terrible
How do you prevent to loose health while you're hungry? ow, btw, apologies, i didn't mention :D this is an amazing video :D as a main maxwell i trully leanr from this video :D
Heyy sorry late reply, thank you! 😄😊 Btw Im not sure I understand your question,, when our Hunger is 0, then we will keep taking damage, I think there is no way to prevent to lose HP when Hunger is 0, but correct me if my understanding is wrong haha , cheers 😊😄
ah yes at first I wear bee queen crown but I find it adds the hectic-ness because I have to switch between thulecite crown and bee queen crown. So I decided to just use thulecite crown and heal sanity with banana shake (+33 Sanity +8 HP, good one!) 😄😁
ahh yeah it happened to me too 😆 especially on Phase 2 when we place the summon circle (the small middle one) when Klaus already jump forward. the Deers will usually follow and thus making Duelist to attack them because they are the nearest target from summon circle aaaa 😅 we can avoid that by summoning Duelists near Klaus (+after he jump forward on phase 2 😄)
Have you tried taming beefalo earlier? Or rushing to shadow manipulator and getting Bee Queen + Dragonfly first before rushing to ruins? I'm still trying to find a build that is fun and optimal for me solo and playing with my gf and I learn so much from your videos so I appreciate it. One question I have as well is do you have the full run somewhere? There are little things I'm curious about like your preference for trailmix over perogies. I would love to see what your base looks like, how you built it and the timing of the cooking etc. (Which is why I'm wondering if you post the full vid on Twitch or somewhere else).
Hi Paolo, oh wow so glad to see you excited and having great time playing DST 😄 - for Taming Beefalo, yes nowadays I tried to tame it in early game, as it is very helpful for faster speed and additional HP / defense 😄 - for defeating Bee Queen + Dragonfly first before rushing ruins, for BQ will be difficult if we are solo and dont have ruins gears yet, though its possible for certain characters like using Winona to build 10 catapults vs BQ (Dragonfly is easier and not much issue). But in general, I usually go to Ruins first before fighting BQ 😆 - To be honest Paolo, i'm still on learning progress as well, my base built is changing over time and recently im developing new base design. Since you are already progressing well, I will inform you when I post a base guide for experienced players 😄 - I not yet stream on Twitch because of busy with work aaaa, but from time to time I will post full video of certain run that I think will be helpful, will let you know Paolo, thanks so much for watching my videos 😄 cheers! 🍻 (oh and its very sweet of you to play together with your gf 😊👍)
@@Wattata888 Thank you for your thoughtful response :) We watch your videos together. I find that even with a war saddle beefalo and ruins gear I have a hard time with the bosses you make look easy. I prefer a speed beefalo because I play on the switch so it's a little laggy and there can be latency / control issues so it's easier for errors. I both love and hate using the beefalo because besides the pros of using one, to me the biggest con is still the 1000 hp / not being able to heal super easily. What I love about it is honestly the resource preservation. Go to the ruins once and stockpile suits + clubs that will literally last you until Ancient Fuelweaver. And if you can defeat him then yeah... end game Maxwell with bone gear + a war saddle beef becomes a real joy to play. Recently I've been rushing to ruins on a beefalo before winter and with moggles + 1 set of marble armor it becomes very easy even for a newb like me! Even with a beefalo + ancient gear I find BQ super hard. I use a panflute to try and group the bees in phase 2 or 3. The shadow set piece I try to kill on day 21 but it's really hard for me because my beefalo always dies lol. Even with ancient gear phase 1 and 2 are usually quick but then by phase 3 the beef has accumulated so much damage just getting hit a few times from the rook = death. So I'm trying to just do the first two phases without the beefalo and the last 1 riding on top of it. Thanks so much for your content. It's really creative and fresh how you play the game and it's so enjoyable e.g. your frog bunny farm is brilliant. Will keep on following closely!
ah yes it just happened to me earlier, I think because lack of engagement, I keep shadow prison-ing her while hitting the mooslings, perhaps its moose goose's mechanic, to reset if no engagement from player 😆
Oh I just posted a video of nightmare fuel farm , here's the link : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CpUq05eHkLA.html I didn't add a nightmare fuel farm in this video because I afraid the video become too long 😆
59:00 i was looking at that poor iridescent gem from the start :). You never noticed during earthquakes, the rocks that survive are later broken by other falling rocks?
I personally used a beefalo for my first time rushing the ruins but the beef dies half the time and I usually never get to fight Ancient Guardian since beefalo finding and taming takes a while.
Ohh I think its a bit difficult to rush ruins with beefalo in the beginning (also kinda annoying when beefalo keep begging food when we are not riding it), what character you usually use my friend? 😄
@@Wattata888 It was originally Wigfrid but the Wigfrid gameplay loop became boring after a while so I choose Maxwell with Beefalo since the beef nullifies the low health penalty that Maxwell has. It takes a lot of attempts to rush ruins with beefalo since it dies a lot of the time or I die when the beef bucks me off.
Ahh yes beefalo is excellent for Maxwell's low health, have you used Beefalo Widget mod? It can help track the riding time, so you know when it will buck you off 😄
Yeah its shaky shaky messy aaa 😆😆😵💫 I wanna turn the shaking effect off but I was thinking not to modify the world too much to experience DST as it is haha 😆😁
Hi Scavenger626, I was low on nmfuel because I didnt actively farm for it, was too occupied with learning boss fight haha 😆😆 I didnt use shadow sword because I prefer thulecite club for 10% speed bonus or ham bat to save thulecite durability, for night armor i dont like it because we will lose sanity when we take damage, while summoning duelists will make us low on sanity, often causing nightmare monsters to appear when we are in boss fight 😅 I prefer thulecite crown and suit haha 😆 but it's all up to your preference 😊
"200+ days as Maxwell vs Bosses" mate you could've done this much earlier with your cheating chicanery revealed at 50:45 when the suspicius boulder appears when you seemingly already had the celestial orb to engage the champion
Hello Bloopah, I really did use Maxwell until day 200, actually if I count the whole days I spent, it would be 300 days+ because i keep creating new worlds to try different strategy. It took much longer because I was overpreparing everything and yes it could be faster if I really do a speedrun. However this is not a speedrun and I'm taking my time to play Maxwell as he is (surviving 4 seasons, fighting bosses with healing items and equipment i have without using mods). For Celestial Champion and Crab King fight, I use mod to : spawn equipments needed to fight Crabking, and to summon Celestial Champion. I use mod because by that time I already learned all I need about Maxwell and it will be wasting my time to spend 2-3 hours to collect Weather Pain / Dark Sword/ healing foods, so I decided to spawn what I need with mods. It hurts hearing you say "cheating chicanery", but I respect your opinion, however Im sure aside from noticing the "cheat", the rest of the gameplay and information i provide is not useless. Thanks for reading this.
