@@marwadeeb4491 thankfully the staff is so forgiving and overall very nice. It’s quite fast paced and a lot of information to take in. I’ve been working for a month and I’m starting to pick up on things.

@@ruth4470 I will say it’s not hard but it’s a bit to remember, with every passing day you’ll get better. You have nothing to worry about.

true lots of stuff to memorize however once you do it’s pretty easy doing the same stuff just for different patients. Glad to see it’s going well for you 🤗🤗

When he gets to high school he could possibly find a private owned office and ask to shadow & gain experience. The office I worked for offered this for high school students!

I did a medical receptionist course which was helpful in getting a job in this field but I also had some pathology experience. I kept an eye on job ads where the same clinics were advertising positions every 3 months where staff kept leaving and got a job at one of them because they knew I wanted something long term.

Firstly, breathe. Deep breaths, inhale through the nose, out through your pursed lips. There will be times you'll be super stressed, and that's okay. Take it in one step at a time. Do things one at a time. When good things happen, write a note in your little notebook, so when there comes a time you get met with an upsetting situation, you can look back at your notes and realize that you've had so many good moments before that one bad moment.

To deal with angry clients, many of them are angry because they don't know what they're up against, or because they felt like they're not being heard. So make sure you give them your full attention, express to them that you're listening and that you're on their side. If they ramble on, don't cut them off. Let them talk and say things like "Mhm... mhm... oh really?! Is that so? Okay! I'm sorry to hear that...," so they understand that you're listening. Then don't just toss them your office policies. Explain to them why you have those policies and why it's not possible to get things done exactly the way they want them done. Always express that you're there to help them.

@@taylortrevino9191 I don’t have any medical experience. Just office experience in Adminstrative. That why I want to get certification to see where it take me. I check job posting they say certificate or experience.

Great questions! 😀 Usually they look if you had any experience in the medical field, medical terminology stuff like that BUT the office I work at is okay with hiring new people with no experience & yes we do train them.

What helped the most as a first timer was preparing all the patients for the next day so that way I’m already familiar with who’s coming & for what reason also try to only do check ins/ outs til you get comfortable

However knowing what I know now I’d say it’s somewhat a waste if you’re just trying to be a receptionist bc most office will hire with no experience. I’d say the college would be great if you are trying to further your career in just coding for hospitals etc.

@@kimAman05 so far that’s what I’ve seen, we hire people with no experience in any sort of medical field. Sounds like that would be a plus you taking that course definitely put that in your resume & if you get an interview just some key points let them know you’re willing/open to training, great at multitasking but overall a receptionist’s is very similar to customer service. Kinda have to be a people person cause you’ll be calling around/ talking with patients etc.
