Really appreciate your transparency around what you've had done. It's so useful for people to see your experiences. Not a criticism of your lip fillers, it's great you're happy with the look, I just personally think that your original top lip shape was so pretty! Such a gorgeous Cupid's bow. I know that's not so fashionable right now, but I think it's really beautiful. Such a bummer about the microblading. How devastating to go through that discomfort and cost and end up with nothing to show for it. However it wasn't a complete loss because thankfully you were able to share with us that it can go that way, so I'm sure you've saved other people the disappointment. Thanks for sharing.

Great video. One thing, Allana: you said you aren’t afraid to age and you like your lines around your eyes…I felt exactly the same way up until I turned 50 and my face “fell.” Lines are very tolerable and often interesting, and there are many beautiful “older” people with lots of lines…however, many of them retain a tautness to their jawline and neck. For those with laxity and volume loss, the look is profoundly altering. I believe my skin changes were related to the natural effects of estrogen loss from peri-menopause and menopause. It’s impossible to explain how devastating the change was. I went from people saying, “no way you are not 48!” to people asking me if I was my friends mother. A lot. Frankly, I don’t care what others think, I’m just giving an example of how noticeable my skin aging occurred in a short period of time. So I encourage younger people to realize: we have no idea how we are going to age…no matter how well we care for ourselves or our skin, life happens and it’s not always what we think it’s going to be. I will also share that I’m THRILLED with my recent lower face and necklift. I absolutely look my age (58), have all my lines…but I now have a jawline and neck again instead of a sagging bag from the mouth down. I knew I would regret it if I didn’t do it, and I’m so grateful I was able to do it. Sometimes I look in the mirror and think-wait, all those lines and I just had a facelift? But this is what I asked for: an age-appropriate face without the laxity…so grateful. I tell people: I had a neck and jawline trim. 😊

I love how transparent you are when it comes to the “work” you’ve gotten done! It’s so informative and reminds people to not compare themselves to others who actively did things to change certain parts of their body. Also, as a current pharmacy student, I think the problem with your Accutane videos came from using the brand name “Accutane” even though you were using the brand Epuris. The drug name is isotretinoin, so either referring to it as that or Epuris would’ve been fine, but I think there were some legal issues surrounding use of the Accutane brand name. I get why you did it, since that’s what most people know it as. Hope this helps!!

The eyebrow lift is amazing! I'm 54 and started having eyebrow lift and crows feet botox last year. I didn't tell my partner and he didn't even notice but I LOVE it, it really makes me feel less tired. I've fessed up no and my partner is cool but doesn't understand why I do it. I had quite a bit of filler in October for my 48th birthday. I had just passed the bar and figured I would treat myself. I did NOT want to do my lips, but the doc talked me into it. I was immediately happy I did it. I was very swollen for about 10 days, but now, it just looks perfect. Those little lines around my lips are gone, and I have less laxity. Lip liner goes on so much smoother. Most people would not think I had anything done, which is the way I like it, but that first week, everyone at work was like "why did you do that to your lips?" But, within two weeks, the same people were saying, "Oh, that looks great!" It's an adventure!

I agree with the “you do you” motto … and am in no way criticizing you, my question would be - if you were not an influencer (geez that word makes me cringe) do you think that 1. You’d notice the things that you want changed/fixed 2. You’d feel the need to do any of these procedures? I’m older, and yes, weep 😂 at some of the aging changes BUT I’d never go beyond good skin care, diet and workouts … as I said - no judgment or criticism… curiosity and questions only … 😊

Whether or not one decides to do some kind of cosmetic procedure, more power to you. But ever since I got botox in September of 2022, I absolutely love it! I'm a believer. I turned 35 and I had some really harsh 11s in between my eyes that seriously aged me. The botox just relaxed my expression and made my skin so smooth. 100% on the Accutane. I turned 30 and my skin freaked out. I'd never had serious acne before and all of a sudden I was getting huge painful cystic acne. I tried a bunch of stuff prior to going on Accutane, including spironolactone which definitely helped my skin but was making my potassium too high, but eventually just decided to bite the bullet. Girl, microneedling changed the game for me! I've had it done in the past with not much result but this last time I got it in conjunction with PRP (platelets from your own blood that help with healing) and the results were stunning. My skin is so smooth and glowy. I go back in next week for a second round to hopefully further reduce pore size but I'm so pleasantly surprised by the results I had this time around. Especially on my neck where I've seen a lot of aging or "tech neck" and where I'm genetically inclined to show my aging most. It doesn't hurt at all, they numb you up really well, and when the numbing wears off it just feels like a mild sunburn for a day or two. Highly recommend.
@sophiewelsh8619
@sophiewelsh8619 Год назад
I've been thinking about having it done on my neck, because all my studying and work have given me a lot of lines there. I don't think I really mind it all that much, but I worry about how it will look when it gets worse. How much would you say it helped with the neck lines specifically? Like if you could give a percentage, would it be like.. 75% better? 50%? and how long does it last? Just trying to factor that into the decision.
@morganellabean
@morganellabean Год назад
@@sophiewelsh8619 It made my neck lines noticeably better. Like, really better. Probably by about 65% just on the first treatment. I'm having another treatment done today actually. I've heard the effects compound with further treatments so I'm excited to see how things turn out. I'd say it took about 3 weeks before I noticed the difference but when I did notice, it was pretty sudden. Depending on how bad your lines are and what your budget allows, I'd plan for 2-3 treatments to see pretty major results but I'd also talk to your treatment provider because they'll know best, obviously. I'm mid-30s and neck wrinkles are pretty deep on my mom's side of the family so even though my face doesn't show much aging, my neck does. My wrinkles there are the main sign of my aging.

Stated this in your previous brow video..but you need to get microshading and not blading. My brows are completely filled in and have been for years. It works. Blading is such a conservative approach and is rarely effective for most people especially with oily skin. I also had to go through 4 sessions before my skin held on to the ink permanently. Now I go once a year. For the record I had zero brows to begin with and now I have full legit brows (also promoted hair growth)

I’ve been wanting to suggest this for you for some time now but I work at an optometry office and with your blinking I’m wondering if it could be a meibomian gland dysfunction (the oil glands along your “water lines”). We actually use an IPL to treat the underlying inflammation in those glands. Different attachment than the one for the red veins and not zappy like the face filters. Just warm. It’s helped me personally a lot with oil production and overall eye comfort. And then after a few sessions of that we do another procedure to heat up the hard oils and massage them out. Anyways... love your content as always 💚

I just happened on your channel, so this was the first video I've seen. I'm a follower now! 😁 What I really wanted to mention is I love how upfront you are about what you have now or have done with your face! I'm 47 now and from what I've heard repeatedly you are definitely doing it right! It's my understanding that most Doctors believe that the patients they have been seeing since the patient started in their late 20's to early 30's have the best results with botox. The reason is if they can start injecting the trouble zone ( the 11's, forehead, nasolabial Folds) they can largely delay the laugh lines, natural expression lines on the forehead, and smile lines around the eyes from becoming static wrinkles. Once people usually go to the doctor about these things, 90% of them already have the wrinkles on their face. To my understanding, if people would get Botox before they have permanent static wrinkles from regular facial expressions, then the doctors can delay them becoming static wrinkles with the use of Botox. Then your face doesn't have a choice because it can't make the Expressions that are giving you the smile lines or so on and so forth. Anyway, it's refreshing to hear someone that is so blunt about it! Good for you!!!

I’m a microblading artist, and all my clients that come in a year later still have their brows looking amazing. Clearly the artist you went to didn’t go deep enough which is why the pigment didn’t last. Also, the touch up is REQUIRED. Microblading is a two step process. One session isn’t gonna be enough as we need to be more conservative. Microblading is definitely 100% worth it. I just hate ppl that bash it bc of bad experiences.

When rona happened and I couldn't make appointments I started just shaving/derma planning my face. I will never go back to lasers or waxing ever again. My hair does NOT grow back thick and on top of that, my skin glows and is so smooth for makeup application AND ON TOP OF THAT, I am not longer wasting money on gimmicky things that dont work. I always felt like lasering caused hair to grow thicker and in areas that never had hair before...and since I stopped its gone back to normal. I use a single blade razor and I do it maybe like once a week? It is amazing.

One was I burnt my face with 15% azelaic acid, it left a large red burn on my face which took over a month to fade, was painful but luckily did not leave pigmentation. I had to wear a lot of concealer as it was a red bloch. Another was microdermabrasion, that left my skin so sensitive I could not even touch my face for 2 weeks. My dry sensitive skin cannot handle anything more than just mandelic acid, maybe 5% lactic acid but thats it.

Sooo I tried the shaving and while it was amazing at the time the peach fuzz came back soooo much worse. I did it a handful of times but now I kinda regret it.

Totally understand the hormone stress shift. In my teens and early in undergrad I broke out in massive breakouts all over my chest and neck and my skin was so dry it flaked and cracked but when I went to peel it because it looked dead and scaled, all over my chest, my skin would bleed. It was HORRIBLE. I had to go on steroids.

You can apply a numbing cream prior to the laser treatment, doesn't remove the pain completely but helps a bit! Why salons wouldn't do it for clients its a mystery.

So BBL is AMAZING. If it makes you feel any better the first time I got it done, I swelled up and bruised up, looked like a freaking chipmunk! 🤣 Broken blood vessels the works! I had lots of freckles that I wanted gone and it did wonders. I now get it every year or so. I've also done my Dec, neck, shoulders and arms. It's buuuuurns. So do it in sections. I did my upper arms one week, then my lower arms the second week. Way less freckles. It's brilliant. Used a cold compress when I got home to cool down my skin. Totes recommend 😊

I want to get my lips done . Specifically, my upper lip . I have a fairly full lower lip but it’s also uneven . One side is fuller than the other . Maybe some day! A girl can dream ! Also Botox for an eye lift ! Thank you for your honesty in this video !

For the micro blading I truly think you didn’t get it with someone that new what they were doing. I have gotten them done twice, the first time it was amazing, it’s been almost 4 years and I still have some left. The second time, the lady didn’t know what she was doing and it disappear after two weeks. Also, to my knowledge most of the people require you to come back after two weeks for a touch up. Sorry you had a bad experience!

I would really like to get some filler to my top lip. I look like you did before you ever had it done, and your lips look beautiful. I get botox on my whole face twice a year for my hyperhidrosis ( excessive sweating ) due to my nerve disease. Even though we don’t get it for the same thing, I absolutely know what you mean with feelings more awake! 💕

I’ve recently went on accutane for hormonal breakouts, i.e. less severe occasional deep breakouts that you have previously said that you get - derms now prescribe for less severe acne that is not responding to other treatments (skin care etc.) - would you consider going back on a course of accutane to banish acne for good!? Just wondering since you had such a positive experience the first time ❤

I used electrolysis on my little red veins… it’s not permanent but probably less painful than the laser 😅 You could also look into that for the blue veins

the acne thing is exactly what happened to me in december and i am still struggling with it. also an overnight thing and i laughed when you mentioned cutting out dairy etc because that is what ive been trying to do so i clearly need to go to a derm because im also in my 20's and the hormone thing makes sense. thanks for sharing.

You may want to research VPL (Variable Pulsed Light) treatment, similar to IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and Laser but without any down time. You might have a little redness immediately after the treatment but it will be gone in an hour or so. VPL treatments can get rid of hair, dark spots, fine lines, spider veins, angiomas (red moles), tattoo removal, etc. The only discomfort I experienced was a feeling like a light rubber band pop on my skin, but not painful, because I am the queen of low pain threshold and avoid pain as much as possible! I have a fear of needles so Botox and fillers are not an option for me. Needles hurt and I don’t do pain!!! 😬😭🙅🏻‍♀️ Do some research if you think you can benefit from some of the results. It may not work well on the light colored hair on your face. In the hair removal settings, it works best when there is higher contrast between the hair color and skin color.

I find there’s quite a bit of inconsistencies in the beauty world. I know it’s quite personal based on how someone’s skin is etc, but I have heard such buzzard things. I got microdermabrasion done and loved the result. It helped my acne scaring after having severe cystic acne from my hormone imbalance due to birth control for me. Then I tried microneedling. I was told 3 sessions are the usual for them, but my 3rd session, the woman told me to book my 4th session and I questioned her on it. She couldn’t provide a reason why I needed an extra one when my face looked great. Sometimes I really lose trust and what is a money grab and what isn’t.

Hi Lan, unfortunately I also struggle with my mascara for my blinking eyes. I have discovered a top duo, so I can still wear my favorite mascaras and the runout and smudge has become much less. It’s about the Clarins SOS lashes serum marcara in the color carmal (also beautiful on itself) and the Clarins lash & brow double fix mascara. First a layer of the SOS lashes, then my mascara and finally the double fix. I am wonder if these 2 are also something for you? So you can still wear your favorite mascara

Uh, micro blading should only cost about USD $300-$400 with a free touch up. It should take no more than 2hrs. The downtime should be no more than 5-7 days. I think the issue was the place you went to get it done.

The price really depends on where you are and the artist who does it! The artist Lan went to is highly respected in the tattoo world. Some people’s skin just doesn’t hold the ink well. I’ve had my brows microbladed and it worked very well for me. I paid over $400 in Utah 6 years ago.
