What I want from the American Idol Judges this year 

Luke and his wife adopted his sister’s 3 children when they were left orphans after the death of his brother-in-law in 2014 his sister having died in 2007. He said it was watching his nephew mourn the loss of his father that brought him to tears when he heard Iam Tongi sing “Monsters”.

Can't believe this is year 7 of these three, they've almost been together as long as Randy, Paula and Simon now which was 8 years. I really have gained a lot of respect for Katy as a person and have gotten the sense she genuinely cares about the contestants so was nice to hear you say that. As much as they've grown on me I was kinda ready for a change though. The two mentors we'll see in Hawaii, Jelly Roll and Tori Kelly, I think would be great as judges. I remember reading rumors about Idol considering Tori back when the show was rebooting on ABC and looking for new judges so maybe it'll still happen some day. In one of her Twitch streams someone asked if she would ever want to be a coach/judge on The Voice and she said that was one of her dreams. She also mentioned recently in a stream how during Hawaii week she joined the judges and gave some feedback to the contestants (she wasn't sure if she was supposed to say that so hopefully I'm not getting her in trouble lol) They just taped that last week but it'll air in a month or two. Sorry for rambling but I'm a Tori Kelly stan and maybe someone will find that interesting 😂

Even though I don't listen to country music much, Luke, at least in front of the cameras has become my favoured judge. He seems to be the most consistent and authentic in his praise or criticism and he seems to enjoy the goofiness inherent in the show. Katy is the most show business judge. She's got the costumes, goes along with the pranks, and can be exaggerated in her responses. It can get really tacky, but at least she takes the risks. The one thing that I really don't like about Katy is there's a tendency to respond differently to good looking girls, especially the closer they look and sound to her. She's been outright hostile to some contestants for no other reason than jealousy as far as I can tell. She can definitely be momma bear, but she plays favourites. Lionel runs hot and cold with the wisdom in his responses. He can lay out some golden nuggets, and then in the next breath say something objectively stupid. But he's an Icon, and way more down to Earth then his status would suggest. I was a teen in the 80's and viscerally understand the impact he had on music and the culture. I think that generally it's fantastic that he's still involved and going strong, and making an impact.

It’s hard to believe it’s American Idol time!! It’s going to be hard to top last year!!

Luke is a good judge when it comes to the charisma he has with Lionel and Katy but when it comes to actual criticism he's on the same level as Ellen Degeneres. Yes sis give us nothing!!!

This season I want Clark to master autofocus. (PLEASE turn it off & lock the focus on you, not the b.g.)

I think the show is getting to Scripted. To much play acting and not enough singing.
