Thank you. This is really just so helpful! For important ECs, do the activities need to be something related to medical stuff?
@PrerakJuthani
@PrerakJuthani 7 лет назад
Definitely doesn't need to be! Instead you should focus on what means the most to you. From there, you can see if you can connect the values you gained from those experiences to medicine. For example: one of my most valuable experiences was tutoring, and tutoring taught me the importance of teaching, which I thought was a big part of medicine. :)

Thank you so much Mr. Juthani! This was so helpful! Just to clarify, this video was made back in 2017, has the AMCAS application still remained the same?

Hey Prerak, cool video! Quick question, I go to UCLA, which unlike Berkeley is on the quarter system. So when I graduate, I won't have my final grades until after the second week of June.... So if I order my transcript right when I graduate, won't I already be a couple weeks late in filling out the application? Thanks!

Hey man just binge watched a bunch if your videos and we appreciate the quality of your videos. I'm one year away from applying to medical school and I wanted to know if I could email you to ask a few personal questions?
@sarahseaba6075

Hey Prerak! Just a little feedback about your video. You have to wait for AMCAS to open before you are able to request and send a transcript. You can't just send it ASAP.

Thank you very much for this information. This is a lot!! I have a quick question. Since I can start typing up my completed classes to AMCAS, does it mean I will be able to add more classes as I complete them?
@camronman1770

I dont think you would need to pay for two copies of your official transcript considering most schools give you an unofficial one online for free...
@PrerakJuthani
@PrerakJuthani 7 лет назад
You can definitely do this. However, AMCAS makes a HUGE deal that the courses you enter on AMCAS be exactly the same as how they are on your OFFICIAL transcript. Granted, most course names and grades will not change, but if you did have a significant change on your official that was not reflected on your "unofficial," then that could delay processing of your application. This is not likely to happen, but I was extra cautious and didn't want to take a chance.

I’m a non traditional student who went to 3 different colleges. Do I add the classes from each school including sending all 3 transcripts?

Hey! If you have an activity that could easily fit under paid employment, research, conferences attended and publications, given each category is seen differently by admissions committees what would you suggest it be categorized as?
@PrerakJuthani
@PrerakJuthani 6 лет назад
Publication! That would be the most meaningful because it would imply you not only dedicated yourself to it, but were also able to share what you did with the world.

Hi! I just wanted to ask - would you list research and publications as separate activities? For example, I have 2 publications - would that count as two different activity entries, or one entry under "publications" while a description of my research is its own activity (one of my most meaningful?)

Sorry, I thought social science counted as non-science? (I asked my linguistics professor for my non-science letter). I thought science letters were from BCPM professors?

At what age or time point do you start to include activities from? For example, high school or the start of undergrad?

Do specific hours regarding volunteering and internships need to be documented and signed or are we vague about it on the AMCAS?

If I'm graduating may and app is due June do I wait to send my transcript then or before may?? I'm worried about sending it too late. I want to get my app in asap
@PrerakJuthani
@PrerakJuthani 7 лет назад
Send your transcript in ASAP. It all depends on what grades you actually end up entering into your AMCAS app. If the grades will be through your spring semester, then wait until you have a transcript that reflects those spring semester grades. The moment you have those grades, send that transcript in ASAP!
@Diana-lg5bc
@Diana-lg5bc 7 лет назад
Prerak Juthani I thinking of retaking some of my Bs too make them As in the spring, that's y I fear putting in the grades I have now will be a waste, but I also don't want to wait too long. ..But you're right it would be best to send it in when they're accurate thanks!

How would i send Amcas my transcripts? Also if I already graduated should i contact the prof for LOR through email or try to see them in person and ask them?
@PrerakJuthani
@PrerakJuthani 7 лет назад
Good question! I'll make a video on transcripts separately, but you can usually just ask YOUR school to mail it in. AMCAS has an address and my school was able to just send it for free through snail mail. Official transcripts (because they're so official) are usually not given in PDF form, so I think physical mailing is the best way to go!

What should I do if a professor has agreed to write me a letter, and my amcas won't be submitted for a year? Like, where do I store the letter since I can't see it (and I don't have the opportunity to upload to amcas)

There's a letter service called interfolio! You have to pay money for it but a lot of applicants use it
