If the Earth was the same size and mass of the Sun, it would be a Star. Perhaps a short lived one since it has a lot less hydrogen to use as fuel, but it would be a shorter lived star that moved into its red giant phase earlier than the Sun.

This doesn’t make any sense to me. He just expanded the earth while keeping all the resources the same amount as they are now. If the Earth were always as big as the sun and if it could sustain life then it would have that much of resources too. This would have made sense if the title was ‘What if Earth became as big as the sun’

Before I even watch the video: if the Earth was as big as the Sun? We'd all be dead. Squashed by the gravity, among other things.

Things to consider is rotation on its axis for one. If the earth has a severely different axis rotation we would adapt, if survivable, to the centrifugal force versus gravitational pull. Also, I would suspect that if such a planet of that size could form in the first place, other conditions such as water, oxygen and other resources could also form as well.

1. Why would water be more shallow if the Earth was as large as the sun? I mean, nowhere was it mentioned that we would only have as little water as on Earth now? 2. The size of the planted does not have to mean that the gravity would need to be proportional. As an example if the core of the planet does not mean it had to be the same size. 3. Why would satelites be pulled down? As long as you can get them into orbit, doesn't it seem more likely that they would just go into orbit around the planet? I mean, planets orbit the sun so why would this suddenly change for satelites? All that would be needed is to make sure the satelites are far away enough.

Earth’s density is roughly 4 times of that of Sun. That mean if the size of earth is same as the Sun the mass will 4x. Under those circumstances, the Earth will go supernova immediately since the Earth has a nickel/iron core. Iron does not undergo fusion spontaneously meaning Sun sized earth will not ignite like a star. Instead it will go supernova.

But I would have thought that if the earth was naturally that size, it would make enough water and soil to cover itself. Just like it did at this size.

Video was interesting but it didn't took many factors into consideration. If the Earth were as big as the sun then there would be three considerations, 1st- The earth is as big as the sun but its mass remains the same. 2ndt- The Earth is as big as big as the sun but its density remains the same. 3rd- The Earth is as big as the sun but the density is now as same as that of the Sun. If the earth is as big as the sun but its mass doesn't change then the earth would become a sponge cloudlike planet where the life would not be possible. There would not remain any solid ground where we could stand, instead the earth will feel like a gaseous giant ball which has density even lower than the Jupiter. The gravitational pull will be so low that we couldn't feel any weight. If you tried to jump then the gravity wouldn't be strong enough to hold you and you'll escape the planet. The people, the animals and the trees would turn slender on this new planet if they could manage to exist somehow. If the earth is as as big as the Sun and also its density is as high as the sun then the earth will also become a Star instead of still remaining a planet. In that condition there's no point of thinking about the condition of human life on earth because it wouldn't be possible. You can simply imagine how life is not possible on Sun. There would be no difference. If the earth is as big as the sun but the density remains the same as earth, in that condition also the earth wouldn't remain as a planet but it will become a star which is much more heavier than the Sun. In that situation the sun will start orbiting the earth because the Earth has the same size as the Sun but higher density. In simple words keeping earth's density as same as it has now the earth would become much more heavier star than the Sun. Because earth's density is much more higher than that of the sun.. In such severe conditions, consideration of any possible life form is absurd. There wouldn't be any life on this new heavy Earth. Earth would become a star which is much more heavier than the Sun. The moon could no longer exist as it would collapse into the newer and heavier Earth. The Earth and the sun will become a binary star system where the earth will dominate. Don't forget the earth is the densest planet among all planets and it's even more denser than the sun. So the earth would be dominating the solar system and the earth would be the heaviest single body in the entire solar system. And it is also possible that in longer time period the earth would swollow the sun and subsequently a new star wil form which subsequently would lose it's outer layers into a supernova and turn into a neutron star. And the solar system that we know now wouldn't remain the same. The 4th consideration to think about is the earth is as big as The sun but the density as high as the black hole. In that condition the earth would be a massive blackhole that will swollow the nearby planets. And there's no point of considering life on it.
