While going into this season I had less interest in the episode titles, I actually really liked them and they seemed more connected to the characters and the main MCU than the first season. Like Tony on Sakaar literally felt like Tony from 2012

Overall, What If? Season 2 is a noticeable improvement over Seaaon 1. While there were a handful of episodes in Season 1 that were underwhelming, almost all of the episodes in Season 2 were really good with more interesting premises. I also like how they made Captain Carter a more prominent character in the series and expanded her arc. I really enjoyed watching these episodes during holiday break last year. Here is my ranking of all the episodes! 9. Strange Supreme Intervened (it is ultimately disappointing, but still an entertaining episode) 8. Iron Man Crashed Into Sakaar (a well made, but forgettable episode) 7. Nebula Joined the Nova Corps (I wish this one was slightly longer as the premise was great) 6. Avengers Assembled in 1602 (Reminded me of Army of Darkness, but needed more time to develop) 5. Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (a fantastic episode that was fun to watch) 4. Happy Hogan Saved Christmas (an unexpected Christmas delight that will become a holiday staple for years to come) 3. Captain Carter Fought the Hydra-Stomper (really engaging from beginning to end, an excellent episode) 2. Kahhori Reshaped the World (while it may be different, I was hooked from beginning to end and I loved how the majority of the episode was not in English. Kahhori is such a cool character!) 1. Hela Found the 10 Rings (They gave more depth to an excellent villain and humanized her. I love Shang-Chi as is, so seeing another story set in that world was exciting to me and it was exceptional. The only episode that could beat it is the first Doctor Strange episode from Season 1, it’s that good!)

The whole What If? 2 was great, & I especially liked the Kahhori episode & character. Finale was OK but ep 6 was our favourite.

The thing with Kahori is it’s what if because it could not happen in the normal cannon due to the change of the teaser act location but to each their own

It’s less like What If and more like an alternate history scenario with some Marvel stuff to make it possible. What it’s missing (for What If or alternate history) is to show us how the divergence changes the world going forward. It could have used a sequel episode, but not with Dr. Strange trying to capture her. In her world, the Mohawk defeated the Spanish and presumably prevented the colonization of the New World. How does that affect things in the future? “What if Europe never colonized the Americas” goes way outside of the scope of this show, but how about what happens when Thanos sends Loki to come get the Tesseract? Are there still Mohawk superheroes hundreds of years later to stop him? How about other characters who might have been active in that time like Wen Wu, the Asgardians, or the Eternals? Could Kahorri have a run-in with some of them? And are they establishing a character they plan on using somewhere else, or does she just exist in What If, maybe as a player in the inevitable Captain Carter: Civil War?

Overall I thought S2 was more consistent than S1, with less highs and lows (other than the finale which sucked for both). S2 I think grasped the concept of what if better, with the characters more feeling like their main MCU versions rather than massive variations. Also felt weird to open it with Nebula, I think the 80s Avengers or Captain Carter would have made more sense to launch this season. Overall a solid season but it really doesn’t need the crossover events at the end

To each their own about the Die Hard episode- but that “Hulk” that Happy turns into is completely comic accurate. The freak (who’s not purple in the comics if I remember correctly, he just looks like shirtless bald happy lol) is happys superhero alter ego

I think that the Kahori deserves to be in this season. First of all, it does alter canon because the Tessaract is in a different spot (though that could have been worked around). However, the main reason I like having it here is simply because it is a good, unique story. Even though it only loosely fits the gimmick of "What if?", it was still a very good episode. It might have fit better as a movie or in a different TV show, but we don't currently have a different TV show for this. It could work as a movie, but it's SO different than anything else that I think that Marvel would either reject the idea or water down it's creativity. For example, in the episode there was little English and I thought that helped the viewers immerse themselves in these different cultures. If it was a movie, everyone would speak English and if they didn't a lot of people wouldn't go. Being told in this side project of What If? allowed them to tell this story with less limitations. I think your criticism is valid, but I this was still the best option and I think the episode's quality makes it worth it. If they do want to tell more stories like this, I do think they should make a different show though (or just have more good and creative projects in the first place).

9: 2x05 Capt. Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper? (I just don’t care about these Captain Carter episodes) 8: 2x09 Strange Supreme Interved? (At least better than the first season’s finale) 7: 2x06 Kahhori Reshaped the World? (Was it weird? Yes! But did I enjoy it? Absolutely!) 6: 2x01 Nebula Joined the Nova Corps? (Very fast paced, but almost to a fault) 5: 2x07 Hela Found the Ten Rings? (This concept in and of itself is awesome!) 4: 2x04 Iron Man Crashed Into the Grandmaster (Nice Mad Max vibes! Glad to finally see this lost episode!) 3: 2x03 Happy Hogan Saved Christmas? (Say what you want, I had a lot of fun with this Die Hard style Christmas episode) 2: 2x08 Avengers Assembled In 1602? (THIS is what I want to see! An awesome, unique concept that I’m actually curious about!) 1: 2x02 Peter Quill Attacked the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (Just awesome! Great characters! Great action! Great time!) Overall, what I loved about this season was the himages to beloved classics like Mad Max, Die Hard, and Blade Runner

The best what if episode will be What If.. Marvel and Disney decided to listen to its audience, get competent writers and directors who care about source material and made good content again? Can’t wait for that episode to release sometime hopefully.

I would definitely love to see a what-if where the Avengers managed to get Thanos' gauntlet off while on Titan, with situations like What-if Peter didn't snap, what-if Iron Man (or someone else) stopped Starlord from hitting Thanos. This would be interesting because apparently they still would've lost if that happened since the outcome that we got was the only way the Avengers could've won (at least by Strange's calculations). I really do wonder how that what-if would've turned out. Also, 9:04, I really love that plotline and imo it should've definitely been the actual focus of the episode because the one we got just felt off

I think this season was more consistent than the first, but didn’t have the same highs. I really enjoyed the medieval avengers and the Kahhori episode was so unique and I liked it. The Nebula episode, the Peter quill, and Christmas episode were fun and enjoyable but not super great. But then you have a disappointing finale, a boring Hela episode and another boring captain carter episode and to top it off there is an episode that was supposed to be in season one that didn’t fit the season.
@tmac731
@tmac731 8 месяцев назад
A boring Hela episode? That was the best one
@niv731
@niv731 8 месяцев назад
@@tmac731 I have to disagree with you. Obviously, you're entitled to your own opinion, but I felt like we just got a repeat of 1x01, where everyone felt like that episode was just Cap 1 all over again, and the new protagonist had the same morals as the old one so it felt like nothing changed. This time, we replace Thor with Hela, who are not as similar, but go through the EXACT. SAME. ARC. This time we also had a different setting (all the Shang-chi stuff), but none of that added anything new to the story. Hela would have redeemed herself with or without Ta-Lo because we all know how the Thor story works, Wenwu didn't add any interesting character moments, and the ten rings (the weapon) weren't used as effectively as in Shang-Chi.
@tmac731
@tmac731 8 месяцев назад
@@niv731 Hela did go through the exact same arc as Thor but since Hela is way more evil than Thor is a bigger character arc for her v her brother who just needed to be humble. Hela needed to learn that killing is not always the answer but that’s all Odin taught her. This episode just proved how shitty of a father Odin is. Hela is a victim and this episode showed us that. Which is why she would go on to liberate the 9 realms from the Asguard empire, Thor didn’t do that. Also, Hela would not have redeemed herself without a Talo because she wouldn’t have known the real reason behind wanting to be free from Odin control without the proper training to the light. “You can’t defeat darkness with more darkness, only light” Hela was not going to learn that in her own. Thor 3 hits different now after this episode
@niv731
@niv731 8 месяцев назад
@@tmac731 that doesn't really solve my issue with Hela simply replacing Thor, and by extension the episode as a whole. What you said about Hela is entirely true, but its not improving upon the episode. For example, you said that Hela starts from a lower morality point, which makes her redemption much more powerful compared to Thor's. This is 100% true, but it doesn't change how the story is told in any way, only the pre-established context (I hope that makes sense, I'm not the best at putting my thoughts into words, I can re-explain if needed). Also, the fact that Odin is a horrible parent, and that Hela is a victim of said horrible parenting, was already common knowledge from Thor 1 and Thor: Ragnarok. What this episode DOES do is make Hela the POV character (which does make the victim angle a tad more obvious), but this only makes the storytelling more similar to that of Thor 1. Again, to me, they're too similar, this only proves that. Another point, you say that after this episode, Thor: 3 hits different. But it doesn't expand upon any of the ideas that movie presents. The one in question is that Hela is a good foil for Thor. But the reason they were good foils for each other is that Hela was a representation of the negative aspects of Thor's character pre-arc in Thor 1, because she had the same negative traits. Having Thor beat Hela in that movie works because it proves he recognizes the negativity that once presided in himself. This episode didn't expand on that in any way, all the writers seem to have done was say: "Hey, y'know this great foil for Thor we had, her name was Hela. Anyway, she was a great foil for that new Thor because she was similar to the previous old Thor. Lets have this Hela, who's essentially old Thor, go from old Thor, to new Thor, just like Thor did!" (I'm not saying I know how to write better than actualy writers, this was just a consice way to explain my point) Finally, Thor did protect the 9 realms. He didn't liberate them from Asgard because, in his time, Asgard no longer had direct political control over any of them. But he protects Earth (Midgard) in Avengers 1, we know he protected something between Avengers 1 and Thor 2 because everyone recognizes him in the beginning of the movie, Earth again in AoU, Asgard in Ragnarok, Everything in Avengers 3/4, and went around protecting people in space with the guardians until the opening of Thor 4. And those were only the most obvious examples, he's almost always protecting something. In short, its not a good use of the character of Hela, we've done this before.

My episode ranking: 9. Ep7: Same issues I had with with 1x01. It just replaces one character with another and does a lot of the same things (Steve -> Peggy, Thor -> Hela). Unlike 1x01, the episode tried to add SOME of its own things, but none of them worked imo. Ex: The ten rings weren't the action scene stealing weapon they were in Shang-Chi. 8. Ep9: The 1st season finale is down there with Secret Invasion and Quantumania as my least favorite MCU things BY FAR. Season 2's is a big improvement, not perfect, I agree with a lot of what you said in the video. 7. Ep5: Again, this is a big improvement, still feels a bit to close to main MCU plotpoints, but it makes it work, I just prefer other things. 6. Ep8: 1602 is the episode I have the least to say about. 5. Ep6: Why is Kahorri in What If...? 100% agree with your opinion, ALMOST everything else is amazing tho, and it's no where near my least favorite. 4. Ep1: Bladerunner's not usually my thing, but the commitment to the dystopian aesthetic is great. 3. Ep3: Justin Hammer's back BABY! Nuff said. 2. Ep2: 80s avengers is what most episodes of What If...? should be. Telling a NEW story (pause to glare at 1x01 and 2x07) based off a character's different decision, and showing how characters relate and communicate with one another when they otherwise wouldn't have interacted in such way in the main MCU. 1. Ep4: Sakaar made me laugh :D Its not the objective best, but this individual episode is easily my favorite thing from phase 5. For anyone who wants to tell me I'm wrong: I don't care, let me have fun. Not gonna go deeper into why I ranked everything aside from what I already wrote. I have A LOT more to say, but this already took a lot of time and I don't feel like writing more, sorry :/

I love Season 2, and even with my ranking, there isn't an episode that I didn't like, I just thought some were okay. 9. What If... Happy Hogan Saved Christmas? - It's very fun and very much Die Hard-like, but it's just alright to me. 8. What If... Strange Supreme Intervened? - Still a good episode, but it felt really rushed, and I wished we explored Strange Supreme taking all the universe killers. 7. What If... Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper? - Combining The Winter Soldier and Black Widow is a really cool idea, and they did it well. 6. What If... The Avengers Assembled In 1602? - An interesting take on a Medieval Earth. 5. What If... Peter Quill Attacked Earth's Mightiest Heroes? - An Avengers team in the late 80's? Awesome! 4. What If... Hela found the Ten Rings? - I love how Hela gets a character arc in this episode, and you route for her. It's an episode that also combines Thor, Thor Ragnarok (a little bit), and Shang-Chi, so y'know, that's cool. 3. What If... Iron Man Crashed Into the Grandmaster? - I love the simple thought of, "What if... Tony didn't make it after Avengers? Hmm..." 2. What If... Kahhori Reshaped the World? - A new, original MCU character with cool powers and a cool personality? Um, yes! I want to see her in future projects outside of What If...?, please and thank you, Kevin. 1. What If... Nebula Joined the Nova Corps? - Just a fun, alternate Guardians team, that ties it with Captain Marvel as well, and Nebula is just so cool.

I really agree with your take on the Finale. While the boss fight was fun, it was pointless. Strange Supreme is one of my favorite characters in the Multiverse Saga, and they ruined him. They needed to save him for a live action debut. However, I disagree about the Tony on Sakaar episode. I think it was REALLY fun to see Phase 1 Tony interact with the GM. And it was a very fun episode. I also didn't really like the Star Lord episode...

The Kahorri (?) Episode is a what if about the tesseract. Cant remember exactly what but it has to do with it ending up in a different place than where it was in the mcu at that moment. I thought it was dope that a what if scenario could birth an entirely new and original character. Understand your point tho. Also..."Theyre shooting beams and multiplying themselves." Was funny and made me lol cuz i thought the same. We saw Strange Supreme swallow a whole universe ending explosion last season. And somehow this season hes forgotten how to do things i guess. PIS writing tbh. Love the video!

9. Nebula Joined the Nova Corps 8. Kahori Reshaped the World 7. iron Man Crashed into the Grandmaster 6. Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper 5. Happy Hogan Saved Christmas 4. Avengers Assembled in 1602 3. Strange Supreme Intervened 2. Hela Found the ten Rings 1. Peter Quill Attacked Earth's Mightiest Heroes I put Episode 2 at #1 because I thought it was interesting how Ego turned Quill into a villain. However, in reality, he is just being misunderstood, and it only comes from a young Hope that his true colors are revealed and that his father is the truthful villain.

Overall I thought this season was a lot more consistent with the quality, doesn't have the high highs but no low lows, and I think the concept is better used here than the first season. The standouts of the season to me were the 1602 and Hela episode though they're not mindblowing. Unfortunately I prefer the first season because I think some of the concepts are more interesting and I didn't like the finale. The tie ins made more sense for the season 1 finale than the second season. Also they focus too much on Captain Carter which I never cared for her in the first place and it's more so wasted. But I still enjoyed the season so I give it a 7/10. Here's my ranking for this season: 1. Episode 8: What If… The Avengers Assembled in 1602? 2. Episode 7: What If… Hela Found the Ten Rings? 3. Episode 4: What If… Iron Man Crashed Into the Grandmaster? 4. Episode 3: What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas? 5. Episode 5: What If… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper? 6. Episode 6: What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World? 7. Episode 2: What If… Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? 8. Episode 1: What If… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps? 9. Episode 9: What If… Strange Supreme Intervened?

It was decent, definitely better than the majority of Phase 4+5 content. But Season 1 was definitely better. It gave us a great, tragic character with Strange Supreme, and it gave us Infinity Ultron, which is one of my favorite MCU villains to date. And this season’s finale, as cool as the spectacle was, really sucked cus of how just ruined Strange Supreme’s character arc and gave him the Wanda treatment. But I still had some fun and got enjoyment out of the season overall.

I really liked this season and I totally agree about the bottom 3 and I felt like the Strange Supreme episode ruined the original Season 1 episode which had been my favorite - and where the heck did he get that forge anyway? I liked the Hela episode the most and probably the Nebula episode next, which reminded me of a few episodes of Netflix's Love, Death, & Robots.

My ranking 9) E9: What if Strange Supreme intervened? - It was a bit disappointing, yes, and I agree that it either needed to be a two parter or have ten more minutes. And more connections to the previous episodes as well (like season 1's finale connected with every other episode). 8) E6: What if Kahhori reshaped the world? - Interesting how they built up an original character and lore, but the story was sadly a bit bland. 7) E5: What if Captain Carter fought the HYDRA stomper? - Also felt a bit bland to me, even with the red room twist. 6) E4: What if Iron Man crashed into the Grandmaster? - Big gap between 6 and 7 - was one of my most anticipated episodes from the trailer and I enjoyed it. But I'd say the higher episodes all surprised me more. 5) E3: What if Happy Hogan saved Christmas? - Justin Hammer was the best part of this. I wasn't a big fan of Hulk Hogan either though. 4) E1: What if Nebula joined the Nova corp? - Blade Runner is one of my favourite movies, so this episode was great. 3) E8: What if the Avengers assembled in 1602? - The Shakespearian vibe was unexpectedly amazing (HULK SMASH THEE!). It did need more time, yes, since there were so many characters in it. 2) E2: What if Peter Quill attacked Earth's mightiest heroes? - Very creative how they brought together active heroes from the 80's (though i was expecting Red Guardian over Winter Soldier when the plane from Russia arrived). And also Peter's arc was good and I liked how Hope and Hank Pym related to him. 1) E7: What if Hela found the Ten Rings? - I dont know what to say, but it's at the top for me this season.

What If...? Season 2 episodes ranked. December 23 - What If…Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? This is the one episode that deserves a sequel. December 30 - What If…Strange Supreme Intervened? Strange Supreme as the villain made sense and, of course, Peggy was worthy. December 25 - What If…Iron Man Crashed Into the Grandmaster? Watching this makes me want to see Phantom Menace again for the pod racing scene. December 24 - What If…Happy Hogan Saved Christmas? It makes sense because Die Hard was a Christmas movie. December 26 - What If…Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper? This episode made me appreciate the Black Widow movie more. December 27 - What If…Kahhori Reshaped the World? I think this episode is ranked a bit high. It doesn't quite feel historically accurate. December 22 - What If…Nebula Joined the Nova Corps? Nova Prime being the villain feels wrong. December 28 - What If…Hela Found the Ten Rings? Again, Odin being the villain feels wrong. December 29 - What If…The Avengers Assembled in 1602? The title is misleading. There was no Black Widow or Hawkeye.

While I love the What If...? series, I'm getting a little burned out on Thanos getting used as a punching bag. This is exactly what happened in the comics with both Thanos and Galactus, two characters that were beyond anything we ever saw, sublime and near undefeatable, but now we have to continually raise up other, cheaper characters by having them kick the cr@p out of these guys like they're amateurs (Ultron, Gamora with Grandmaster's stick, and now even Ronan??).

As a history buff, I thought Kahhori was confusing because the "What if" part was about the Tesseract, but you also had Spaniards colonizing the Hudson River Valley rather than the French and Dutch. Like what is the point of having the original languages and everything but not get the history right? I also thought maybe it was setting up 1602, only for that to be a different universe. I think the whole concept would have worked better as what if the vibranium meteor that led to Wakanda landed in Mexico instead, bringing Namor's people into it while still having conquistadors. The 1602 episode also had a lot less sense of historical time period than the the Neil Gaiman comic did; it just felt like they were at a Ren Faire or time traveling not actually from a different time period. Lang even makes a lot of anachronistic references. Not sure why they went with the Robin Hood stuff since that's more medieval.

Apparently Jon Favreau basically forced the writers to give him an episode, and another condition of his was to make him a version of the Freak character from the comics. So if the Hulk part didn't work for you it's because it was forced.

My ranking: 1. Episode 4 2. Episode 7 3. Episode 9 4. Episode 6 5. Episode 2 6. Episode 3 7. Episode 1 8. Episode 8 9. Episode 5 Starting from my least favorite, I find Captain Carter to be lame. She’s even more obsessive of Steve than Steve was of her in the sacred timeline, and it just got annoying how she’s obsessing over him, even up to the finale, after losing him like three times. Episode 5 wasn’t funny, or had good fights, and wasn’t even a well-interpreted idea. Episode 8 is just weirdness. I don’t need the characters to be medieval. In this episode, I only cared about Thor and Wanda, and Scott was in another position where I still welcome him above everything else. Again, underwhelming combat. Episode 1 is ok. It gives a bit more lore we can apply to the sacred timeline, but I just wasn’t interested. After Nebula gets beaten up, they win really easily. Episode 3 was the Christmas episode, so I gave it some slack. It was still a fun story, and Hammer returned. It just didn’t feel like a crisis at all, and the Hulk part was lame. Episode 2 was neat, and answered a question I had for a while. However, I didn’t care for this team as much, and the power scales just seemed way off. Episode 6 isn’t a What If, but I don’t care about that. It was a cool story. My main issue with it is the problem I have with Thor in Thor Ragnarok, where he (and in this context, Kahhori) doesn’t really feel like a hero. He stops Hela, but doesn’t do anything for Sakaar. Kahhori liberates the tribes, but goes after the Spanish, which seems like she was just gonna harm the innocents. Episode 9 has a poor story and lazy action, but I was impressed by Strange’s strength (he was weaker than 5 stones in Season 1, now stronger than 6 in Season 2), and how the strength scales were balanced in order for Carter and Kahhori to “win” (everyone still died lol). I disagree that they messed up Strange’s arc. Episode 7 was really good. It gave a lot of lore that can be applied to the sacred timeline, had the best fight in the series, and we finally see Odin fight. Episode 4 improved Tony’s character even more, where he does more for Sakaar than Thor did. This episode also gives a few lore bits we can apply to the sacred timeline. I love how the terms for if Grandmaster won were so poor, that Tony would simply be able to try again, and Tony knew that, so I thought that was funny. The weakest part of this episode for me was just Gamora. I definitely wish it was Tony in Season 1’s finale.

I think overall, the series was weaker than the first but not bad at all, really 9) Captain Carter fighting the Hydra stomper ) 3/10 Why is it so rushed, and why is this about the red room when he's the Hydra stamper also how is bucky still a secratary he should be like 100. 8) The finale ) 4/10 Kinda Anticlimatic and feels like they rushed Stranges arc, but the ending clicks with me 7) Avengers 1602 ) 5/10 I like the premise, but it didn't really hit me until the 3rd act, and the characters used kinda feel like they don't really collide 6)Kahori shaping the world ) 5/10 I like the original premise and the alternate history, but it feels too sanitized considering the events in history depicted, and it's a little too sunshine and rainbows I'd be similar to what if the holocaust never happened I get where therye coming from but it's kinda struck me personally the wrong way . 5) Peter quill attacking earth ) 6/10 again too sunshine and rainbows of an ending, but at least this one is a fictionalized event and not real history and I love the 80s cold War atheistic to this . 4) The Christmas episode) 7/10 I love this premise, and Sam Rockwell is a great villain. I'm glad he's back, but Darcy is annoying in this again, and it's a waste to not have this take place during Iron Man 3 or have Guy Pierce or Ben Kingsley show up . 3) Iron Man Crashes into the Grandmaster) 7/10 Felt more like a Ragnarok follow up then love and thunder in I loved the premise and seeing sakar again but the ending again is pretty rushed and doesn't really match up to the Gamora in the S1 finale . 2) Nebula joins the Nova corps) 8/10. Love the Blade Runner aesthetic nice seeing howard the duck in a more major role, but Nova Prime as a bad guy makes no sense, and the betrayal is predictable 1) Hela finds the ten rings ) 9/10. Also, a bit of a sunshine and rainbows ending, but I thought the arc here was actually really well executed and felt like the closest to the quality of a better season 1 episode .

I was SHOCKED at how low quality a lot of these episodes were, but I enjoyed a decent amount of them. 9th Place: The finale was absolutely ridiculous and such a cop out, especially considering the finale we got last season. 8th Place: The Christmas episode was a great idea on paper, but turning Happy into a gamma mutant was too silly, and Darcy Lewis just REFUSES to be left out of the equation, and I always hated her. 7th Place: Kahhori was not very interesting to me, so her episode was similarly NOT very interesting 6th Place: Hela and Wenwu were cool together, but it's kinda forgettable. 5th Place: Tony Stark in Mad Max is a good enough idea on my terms. 4th Place: 80s Avengers was pretty neat. 3rd Place: I loved the first episode and it's ties to Blade Runner. 2nd Place: The Captain Carter Sequel was just as good if not better than the previous one. 1st: 1602 Avengers was the most unique idea, hence I enjoyed it the most.

I'm an indigenous person (cahuilla/luiseno/assiniboine). With Echo and Kahhori being introduced to the MCU, I discovered how race and culture DOES impact how we root for these characters and how because we have only a few to see ourselves in, it's that much more important for the writing to be good and the characters original. I would be so disappointed if they just race-swapped a white hero to an indigenous one. How disappointing that would be. I didn't find Echo to be good writing. I did however love Kahhori and I love the gamble they took with introducing her. I get why you might not like the episode because it's not dealing with established MCU heroes, BUT it's using MCU tech and plot devices to build another potential hero that indigenous people CAN SEE THEMSELVES IN and represent our stories and culture in. Our scope of indigenous heroes is very limited while the scope of say white heroes is very broad which leaves a greater margin of error in creating duds. Basically, I see now how race and culture can play into hero representation. Oh and I'm not making judgments against you 😊.

That's a difficult question to answer succinctly. An analogy I can think of would be Norse culture reflected in Thor. Norse identity precedes nation-states and ideas of nationality. A person from Denmark shares a pantheon of cultural characteristics with someone from say Sweden or Norway. That identity transcends modern boundaries. The same concept can apply to American Indian/Native American shared identities. This is just my opinion, but I look at us as a nation of nations APART from our identity of "indigenous" people in relation to our colonizers. There are over 500 American Indian tribes with all their own unique cultures and identities, however I see heroes like Echo and Kahhori really transcending all that. Also, no one is saying anything about "owning" any culture. Wakanda is supposedly Uganda. Does that mean an African person in Cameroon can't identify with Black Panther?
@pokezod7832
@pokezod7832 8 месяцев назад
@@Kahuilla interesting points. I have always found that a bit racist to say that characters like Kahhori and Echo are native American representation because it takes away from the differences of cultures and checks one box for a big amount of them. I would not be satisfied for instance if the whole of Europe was "represented" by one character and people would call that enough. I find that like if a Belarusian character will be introduced everyone will call it Russian, a bit racist imo but maybe you gave an explanation, not sure if I agree with it but at least you gave one valid example.
@Kahuilla
@Kahuilla 8 месяцев назад
@@pokezod7832 Yeah I get your point and maybe it's just not possible to articulate my ideas in a comment thread. There's a lot of deconstructing of ideas that would have to be delved into. Maya and Kahhori are American indigenous people. I'm an American indigenous person. I like seeing the representation of American indigenous heroes in the MCU. It doesn't mean I expect them to reflect my particular tribe or that I co-opt Choctaw or Mohawk identities. It doesn't really have to do with race. Race and racism was never a concept to Amerindians before Europeans arrived.

I feel like if What If season three happens they really need to give us things like What If... The Other Half Got Snapped? or I'm not going. Similar to season 1 I only really care for a couple episodes which is really sad. The trailer and episode titles made this season seem way better. 9. Strange Supreme Intervened, A boring finally that felt like an excuse for them to do more team up stories cause they didn't need to combine members again. 8. Kahhori Reshaped the World, Fine but I also didn't like reading the whole episode. I get it's cultural appropriation but it was annoying, especially since they changed it for the finale 7. Nebula Joined the Nova Corp, Never been a fan of blade runner and I almost left the show after this episode. 6. Iron Man Crashed into the Grandmaster, My big problem with this was it made me want Tony to replace Gamora in S1 finale because she does squat in this episode. 5. Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper, Hated Captain Carter in S1 and still not a huge fan hear. But evil Steve and Nat were fun. 4. Happy Hogan Saved Christmas, pointless Christmas special, die hard parody was fun, great to see Hammer again, but the hulk thing bugs me. BIG GAP 3. Avengers Assembled in 1602, was fun in the beginning but the ending wasnt a good payoff for me. 2.
