If your regular fuses won't screw into your fuse panel you could have S Type fuses.

And they don’t even work as advertised. I can screw 30A type S into 20 A type S socket. Just did.

ive seen some circuit breaker plug fuses. are they good to use? should i consider replacing the power panel with a new one or these plugs are still good and safe to use?

That's what I was hoping to find out...he said you could do it but didn't say how. I can't find a removal tool for the Edison to S adapter anywhere.

How do I find out which wiring I have. Ty for the video. I'm sure I mixed them up over the years judging by the color. Ty

S type fuses only go into the base they are intended for. A 15 will only go into a 15 base a 20 will only go into a 20 base. 20 will not go into a 15 or 15 into a 20.

@@themrhelperguy ty for your reply. One more question. If I pull out all fuses, can safely replace an outlet? I thought it was my furnace, but rather an electric issue. Illuminating Company coming out tomorrow. Looks like they did shottie work. Ty again

Type S fuses came out in the 1940's. I believe that codes required them in new installations starting in the 70's.

It's been so long. I remember that there is a wire that holds the socket in there. Maybe fold the s socket into itself until there if enough play to reach the little wire.

I do not know if you still have the s type fuse in place or not, but you should be certain nobody will put a larger fuse than the correct one for wire size you have. That said, to remove sleeve, you will need to carefully break out the plastic insert in metal housing of s type fuse. Break out in very small pieces until the hangnail clip is exposed. Thank this circular wire out and fuse insert should unscrew with no problem. Of course it goes without saying power should be removed from s type fuse before removal. I have done this before, but usually on a blade type disconnect with blade pulled open.

There is a tool that is made for just that it cuts the lip off then you pull out black thread and pull up the barb and unscrew it shut of main before doing consult codes before doing

You can use a needle nose pliers and pry back the outer ring on the Type S adapter. After that you can use the pliers or small screwdriver and carefully slide out the plastic threaded part. Locate the small wire inside the socket that acts as a "barb" and holds the adapter in place. Pry it up and carefully unscrew the remaining screw shell. Obviously before doing this make sure the power is off, and please don't remove a 15 or 20 amp adapter to put a 30 amp fuse in there. This is a fire hazard.
