I didn’t know anything about the career, except that a lot of people often say you need to be really good at math and drawing. Even though I wasn't too good at either, I decided I still wanted to become one because it sounds like a cool idea to me. That’s pretty much the only reason why.
On my first day, I sat down for my very first class : Design I. I had NO idea what to expect. A few minutes later the professor showed up with her iPhone in hand. She did not say anything; she just stood in front of the class, held up her phone, and snapped a picture. She said that the reason she did this was because when the semester was over, she promised that half of us would have quit. That…. Was my first day of school. I promise you, I felt like getting up and leaving. I wish I would have had a better idea of what was in store for me so that I would not have had such a shock, and that’s why I made this video, to give you an idea as to what architecture is really like.
For starters, you can pretty much divide architecture school into two parts : lower division and upper division. Lower division is made up of technical drawing classes, design classes from level one to four, history, and theory classes. It’s common to also take your college core classes while taking your architecture classes. But what does this all mean!? Let’s go over it:
