What is Cinema 4D used for 

Years ago I called C4D one of if not the best "One-man show" programs out there. That is one person can do the most with C4D than any other.

That was very informative, thank you! I've known about C4D for a long time, but I never knew what it truly was. I've got a much better idea now, and I think someday in the future I might try it out for myself.

I've always loved Cinema 4D for motion graphics, holographic effects, glowing things, etc. And I like the tools or modifire tools from Cinema 4D

I'm hype because the first shot of this video is of my hometown neighborhood.

I believe blender gets so much love because it's free. C4D gets so much hate because it's certainly not free and one can do mostly the same exact thing in blender in which is free. If blender cost the same as C4D I believe opinions would be much different because C4D is considered much easier and more intuitive to use. Even though blender has a fast real time render engine. C4D has much more plug-in and support in case something goes wrong. Blender has no support because its a open source program. Any program with reasonable accountability will NOT be free. One has to take that into consideration. Awesome break down of C4D. Blender users, don't hate, respect what people paid for even if you didn't.

It's baffling to me how anyone could watch this video and still find something to complain about. Some people are determined to hate on Cinema 4d no matter how ridiculous it makes them look.

What I really love about Cinema 4D is the automated "Take" system. Just like "Take One," "Take Two," Take Three" etc. in a movie production, I can produce dozens (even hundreds) of variations of a scene (including animation variations, lighting variations, material variations and camera angles), then queue up the Take system to automatically render all the variations. It's a lot like programming a series of Layer States, but it goes far beyond that. Any variable that can be changed in a scene can be recorded in the Take system. It even allows me to save each rendered Take in a different folder location or automatically name them based on any variable I want. Then I just hit the "Render All Takes" or "Render Marked Takes" button and I can walk away and return hours or days later and have every variation rendered and ready for review. I work for a Fortune 500 Corporation and the Take system has saved us thousands of hours for our Team because we don't have to monitor renders.

The fundamental difference with Cinema 4D and 3DS MAX/MAYA when it comes to modeling, is that MAX builds primitives with their pivot points on a presumed X-Y "Ground Plane." It's as if you are looking at the scene from above, like looking at a model of a building. The Z-Axis is Vertical. That's why it's faster to create ArchViz models in MAX, because that's how most architectural plans are. MAX relies upon a "Ground Plane" defined by X and Y, looking "down" at a scene. In this system X-Y represents "horizontal" while Z is vertical. This works well with Architecture. In Contrast, Cinema 4D assumes you are looking into a vertically-mounted television or video screen, where X is horizontal and Y is vertical (much like a mathematical graph in a textbook). Z is then the Depth of a 3D object or measurement. In this system X-Z is "horizontal" while Y is vertical. This works well with Motion Graphics. It's the difference of viewing an object through a vertical monitor where the Z-Depth is horizontal. That is, closer or farther away from a camera. That's Cinema 4D. Whereas in MAX you are generally looking at a scene from above (regardless of whether the monitor is vertical or not) where the "height" of an object is along the Z axis, "Up" or "Down". If you're interested in Motion Graphics, then Cinema 4D can be more intuitive. If you're interested in Architecture, then MAX can be more intuitive. Both of these programs are tools. Each works better or worse for the purpose you are using it for.

Sounds like how there are high and low level programming languages. C4D sounds like a high level 3D program that can do great things easily and that is what it wants to special in, but will have more difficulty in doing more complicated things, perhaps with huge scenes.

I love cinema4d but your too expensive 😭 learning blender and starting to get used to it but you'll have a special place in my heart. Maby one day we will be together again but for now, goodbye my love 😭😭😭

it has the best ease of use / potential ratio above any other software ... a complete VFX package, the cutting edge part of it, things C4D has that are light year ahead of the other softwares are 1) Mograph with Fields introduced in R20 and Vector Fields in R21 + 2) X Particles ..

I love c4d, it’s pretty much my weapon of choice, it’s easy and road bust, I used every single 3d software out there from lightwave 3d to maya, from 3ds max to blender just to name a few, and in conclusion, I decided to switch from max to c4d since both max and c4d are by far the most reliable 3d packages I’ve ever used, why I chose c4d over max? the perpetual license, now I can use c4d whenever I want without fees

C4d is a nice all-around 3d package and with a few plugins it can be even better. Its the industry standard when to it comes to 3d for advertisement, tv broadcast graphics, motion design and its also becoming very strong in archviz and product rendering, following 3ds max. It might not be the industry standard for games or cinema vfx / animation, but many big studios rely on this software for its fast and intuitive approach mostly to accelerate the creative process. Blender is also gaining popularity and is a good tool but its no match to c4d when it comes to motion features and procedural control. Houdini is quite the oposite. Very strong on procedural but it sucks in a fast/ artistic approach to 3d , like modeling and sculpting and also animating. Choosing software is mostly choosing what you want to do, and then going for the best tool.

Wow, there's really a lot that can be done with this programme, not just popular clips covers with anime-style girls dancing in revealing dresses

One minor thing I love about C4D is that it loads blazing fast compared to 3ds max or Maya.

Ive used c4d for years. When I jump into blender I struggle to make a basic cube. It's user interface is just the worst i've seen in ANY program. Every time I try to get myself to learn blender a little better I end up rage quitting. Everything is just hidden in that app and for every operation you need to google how to do just about anything. c4d on the other hand is just so intuitive. Models almost create themselves. In my humble opinion blender is just really bad and if it weren't free nobody would use it. I'll probably learn to sculpt in blender at some point in the future though.
