Yep. Got mine extracted today....it was an emergency for me because my tooth was infected. My lower jaw and side of my neck was swollen...smh. I really hope this dry socket thing does not happen to me!!
I had all four of mine removed this morning. I took my meds and all but I actually tried rinsing my mouth with water because there was just so much blood and saliva. Thanks to this video, I’ll try not to rinse for now!
I wish they would just stitch up the extraction area. That blood clot comes out fairly often. I did everything right and have a dry socket. It’s so painful.
E Kat i have been eating on my opposite side of my mouth but foods that i’m supposed to eat, thankfully they filled my gum in and stitched me up so i don’t think i have to worry about a dry socket
I like this. I know that dentists are busy and have other patients but it would be good if more dentists were like you with helping people understand. Knowing more eases the anxiety. I mean, it doesn't have to be a seminar but explaining the fear away is important.
Had all 4 taken out today. Felt a lot of pain afterwards, pain is going down tho around 12 AM. Haven't drank, smoked, or eaten a thing. Road to a healthy recovery!!
I didn’t feel any pain at all whatsoever (only had one tooth removed). I ate soft foods the first day and now I’m worried!!! No one told me I couldn’t eat soft foods the first day smh 🤦🏻♀️
BEEN sitting here for about a week being absolutely terrified of getting a dry socket. But little did I know I CANT because I got a bone graph🤣🤣🤣🤣. Thank you so much lol
I was so scared of getting dry socket, I just kept my mouth closed the entire time I was recovering, only opening it to drink water or brush my front teeth.
I just had a dry socket and trust me I’ve never experienced pain like that. I am a woman with three kids, play basketball my whole life, was in a car accident that cause spine issues and aches that I’ll probably always have, nothing is worse that having a dry socket
I had gotten dry socket too because they had over dosed me on the pain killers (I was 12) and was rendered unconscious for two weeks. When I woke up that by far, hands down, is the worst pain I've ever experienced to this day.
Seriously! Shit is traumatizing lol. I got dry socket a few years back when I got my 2 right side wisdoms removed and it was the worst pain in my life so far. When I went in the next day to take care of it, the lady literally scraped the inside on the area and bone with the curved plastic syringe. I was in tears immediately. I just got the last 2 taken out a couple days ago and I'm so scared of getting it again.
I remember the scraping and the packing, you know those long strips of small fabric covered in clove oil???? I literally throw up and gag if I smell or taste close oil. Burned into my memory for the rest of my life
I don't understand this dry socket where that come from? back in the days you wait 12 hours then rinse your mouth out with warm salty water every day until your gum is heal that's it
My girlfriend is about to get her wisdom teeth out and I was explaining to her yesterday what a dry socket is (because I’ve had a dry socket b4) and this video pops up the next day....they are listening to everything.🤦🏾♂️
Try mashed banana, mashed potato with gravy, porridge with soy sauce, after one whole day, I was able to swallow down Mac & cheese, still researching for gourmet foods before I can go back to eating seafoods and steak, and all the wonderful foods that I cannot eat right now. Sigh
My dentist gave me the PRF, and stitched up the hole. I heard that a lot of people had open holes, so I was surprised at that. It happened 13 hours ago, and I'm in about 3-4/10 pain. Wish me luck :) And good luck to everyone who is going through this, and who will be
The pain would last a day, when I had my tooth pull I cried that whole day until I went to sleep, woke up without pain in my tooth. Sleep the whole day.
these and videos of people eating after they've healed up, keeps my spirits up. wont be long before i can upload my "first subway sub after extraction" video
I had it once, not fun!! Kept going back to get that clove stuff crammed in there. What a waste of time. Just take your toothbrush and listerine and scrub the site to make it bleed again. New scab forms and oila dry socket gone. It’s gonna hurt so ya just gotta prepare for some self inflicted pain but once you do it then the dry socket pain is over. They’re not allowed to tell you to do this though. All a dry socket is is exposed bone with no clot to cover it. So make it bleed again and it goes away. Simple.
I was born with some type of enamel deficiency and growing up I was terrified of my dentist for multiple reasons lol. My parents taught me everything they could in my childhood and one thing I took (still take) very seriously is oral hygiene and hygiene period. I brushed at least twice a day or sometimes more depending on what I would eat and etc, I flossed every night making sure nothing was stuck in my teeth and I would use mouthwash frequently. I would get cavities or weak spots on my teeth for no reason so I was going to the dentist a lot. Once my baby teeth were practically all gone and my "adult teeth" grew in I still had issues. Finally after switching to a new dentist that I liked and who seemed to have a genuine appreciation for his work he brought my mother back one day on when I was getting my teeth cleaned and he had one of the assistants look at my mom's teeth. My dentist took us into his office to discuss things she he told me that my tooth enamel was very thin and weak. I took certain vitamins and precautions to further extend the life of my teeth. My mother and my grandmother both had similar issues, my mother had married my Dad at a relatively young age, like 19 or so and she had me when she was 21. By the time I was about 8 she already had top and bottom dentures. My grandma didn't get hers until she was almost 45 only because she didn't have the money so she lived with bad teeth for a very long time. At the age of 53 my grandma died of mouth and throat cancer. I had perfect teeth in terms of position and placement, they were so very straight without any gaps or crooked teeth. Little by little though my teeth began getting smaller, weaker, skinnier and discolored. Through highschool they looked okay but most of my molars and back teeth had cavities or were broken from having cavities and being weak. I'm 27 and just 4 days ago I went and had all my teeth extracted, most had cracks, cavities and we're broken so the surgically cut the majority of them out. The past few days I've experienced some of the most immobilizing and intense waves of pain I've ever felt. I didn't know an individual could experience this kind of paralyzing pain while conscious. There's multiple contributing factors as to why it has been such a miserable process. I have nasal polyps right, and I've went and had them removed dozens of times but they always ALWAYS come back eventually. It's kind of a game of chance whether or not they come back after surgery, a friend I had in highschool long ago also had em and he went through 7 surgeries over the course of like 10 years before finally one day after his last surgery the polyps just never came back. So, because my nose is basically completely blocked off and filled with polyps and mucus I get sick a lot and can't breath through my nose. When I was getting my teeth removed they put me on a nitrous and oxygen mix. The mask only covered my nose so they could work, I told em my situation but I had it anyways..after they numbed my gums they began the extraction and it hurt like fuckin hell! The laughing gas didn't work obviously due to my nose issues and I could still feel some of the cutting save pulling. They stuck me several times to numb me but it wasn't doing the trick. They worked as fast as they could and to make things worse I'm allergic to Advil, ibuprofen and can only use Tylenol which doesn't do shit for this kind of pain. I got addicted to painkillers years ago after I was hit by a car running a red light and going around a turn. I was on my skateboard and just as I crossed the street that motherfucker hit me. I couldn't see him and he obviously couldn't see me. I broke my arm in 2 places, cracked 4 ribs and my tailbone was shattered. After being on painkillers so long I was addicted to em and couldn't go 24 hours with them or is get really really sick. Body aches, legs cramps and pain, vomiting and diarrhea, cold sweats and chills while running a fever, couldn't sleep. So after this tooth extraction I couldn't take any painkillers, just antibiotics and Tylenol and it's been absolute hell. You couldn't pay me enough to go through this shit again.... and I mean that.
I had 4 tooth extractions done to me for orthodontics purposes. The sad and annoying thing is, my last tooth extraction developed into a dry socket even if it was stitched. It hurts so bad like a tooth decay but multiply it by 5 and the pain reaches up to your temple and ear. Hope this gets better soon UwU
I am experiencing this right now. A tooth extraction 5 days ago and I have this dry socket issue, after 3 days of extraction, the pain has worsen. It is 3 times more than normal toothache. This morning saw the dentist, never in my life cried on dentist's chair....this morning they put anesthesia injection at the place of pain and then scratched the socket ( place where roots were) with an iron thing to make it bleed. The worst nightmare, I can say. I do not wish this to happen even to an enemy.
I've gotten all my wisdom teeth extracted, I didnt get any information about not to spit or suck on straws for example. I did all of these things anyway and still never experienced a dry socket, the pain from extraction completely went away by day 4.
Even if we do the process you say to prevent it there’s 5% chance we still get dry socket 🤷🏽♂️ so really it just on how that blood clot is feeling that day 😂
Got my wisdom teeth out last summer and just got 2 teeth pulled 2 days ago. I rinse my mouth out by just putting water in my mouth and moving my head slowly side to side then opening my mouth. I had 2 teeth on the bottom pulled to get my braces on and am very paranoid that my clot is gonna come out. Watching this helped make that nervousness go away. On my way next month to get another 2 pulled from the top that time.
You can smoke. I had 4 teeth pulled out. Smoked after 2 hours. Never had any issue. But, there is a but, I inhaled the smoke very gently and no more than 6-7 cigarettes for the first 10 days
I got mine done today it wasn't an easy experience but it was successful which am thankful to God for ty I wasn't told all of this that's why I decided to do my own research . Stay safe everyone!
My dentist didn’t tell me anything about blood clots either.. or explain the importance of biting down on gauze.. or what healthy healing process would like or how long after would I not have to worry about the blood clot.. < that’s the question I have. It’s been 72 hours. No pain, but I want to make certain it’s healing properly
Just had my wisdom tooth removed a few hours ago. She just gave me a prescription and told me to just eat ice cream but never inform me about tje do's and don'ts. Now I kinda clean the hole where the tooth was and I just watched this vid. I'm now paranoid if I'll get to experience this dry socket on the next few daya
That's kinda on you, i had a molar removed and the first thing i asked was what can and cant i do. you should be asking questions and looking things up.
I got my tooth extracted hour ago. I am heavy smoker but won't smoke till tomorrow morning . It is 21:40 atm , got tooth out at 21:00 Didn't speak to nobody as I don't want to make pressure on mouth , just layed down as I don't want to move a lot , put cold gauze over my cheek to help swelling , took Ibuprofen 600mg , off to sleep and will have my head raised on a pillow instead of full mount horizontal sleeping . So my way is just easy going , and yeah I will eat tomorrow , I can be without food , not an issue , had a meal before extraction and Ibuprofen before it and now just recovery . Can't wait for a espresso tomorrow , one gentle sip on a left side and couple of gentle cig puffs on the same side. Second time I got tooth out and never had problems
I'm 22 and got 2 wisdom teeth removed. I haven't ate in a day going on two I been off water and light bush or mouth wash. No foods, smoothies with spoons no straw . Take meds for infection prevention & pain killers if needed and pray it hurry TF up and heal
Thank you for video. Very well explained and gave me comfort knowing what and when to expect anything ... I’m hoping to avoid dry socket , drinking from cup and chicken noodle on opposite side of extraction.
I’m sitting here at 4am on day 3 of a dry socket. This is the worst pain I’ve experienced. Even morphine isn’t touching the pain. My face is swollen and I’ve a massive bruise over my jawline. It was a really difficult extraction. I don’t smoke, I didn’t use a straw and I only gently salt water rinsed on day 2 as per my dentists extractions. I went to the OOH dentist on Saturday morning and he numbed it and popped on a dressing. At least I got some sleep while it was numbed. I feel the one side of my face as been used for football practice. I’m on MST sustained relief tabs routinely but I’ve also got morphine sulphate tablets 10mg for breakthrough pain. That isn’t touching this ghastly tortuous pain. I can’t wait till 9am till my Dentist surgery opens to get it numbed up.
Hope everything is fine now. I just had my left upper side wisdom teeth removed.. hope everything will turn out well.. i smoked weed already though.. i cant stop with it.. but i slowly inhale and drink kamille tea aside. Hope no problems!
I had an extraction on Wednesday and it clotted like jelly and after 2 days it's turning white, it's fibrin and that means it's healing. You'll know if you have a dry socket because it's painful as hell and you'll have terrible breath.
@@Xunder_oathX i had my tooth extraction 4 days ago and now its abit black inside and white around and i have a bad breath its also painful but i can still survive with it so not extremly painful
I'd like to know what percentage of people get "dry socket" I'd never heard of it, but they made it sound like you basically have to meditate for 2 weeks to avoid 'dry socket' and if you do get dry socket then man it's terrible! I just have no reference : I understand i'm making a blood clot baby in the socket. But no clue as to what the limits are for what you can do. I guess what I'm saying is the dentist read off the warning label like it was the back of a kids toy in California: IF everything gives you dry socket then everything and nothing is dry socket.
That is actually pretty common. My surgeon is great. Awesome human, but he was swamped that day (Friday). I was given a set of instructions on paper, though. Stick to your routine and be disciplined! Be prepared to have the same routine for 1-2 weeks, maybe even a month.
What if you have food in there and you can't get it out. What happens to that small food particle then? Will it dissolve with the bone tissue and still grow skin and everything will be ok?
I had a wisdom tooth, bottom left, extracted last week. I've noticed the adjacent tooth is now slightly loose and is giving me a dull ache. It's been 7 days now. I've read it's not uncommon, but when should I start worrying? How long until the loose tooth sets in the gum for good?
He forgot to mention that in most wisdom teeth extraction cases it is nearly impossible to avoid dry socket. If there were complications with the extraction such as I don’t know needing to cut a hole to fish the too out. Important thing to note is that dry socket isn’t always bad. Its just The way your body decided to heal itself. As long as your not experiencing an extraordinary amount of pain then you should be god to just flush the sockets out yourself and keep rinsing. You should be just fine at the end of the 2 week recovery. Keep in mind some people just take longer to heal. Best to get them pulled before you’re in your mid 20s so you’re still somewhat youthful and can heal like a champ.
@@sl4983 honestly it was worth it. I wouldn’t go through that agin but getting it all taken care of all at once was the best route. If i had 1 or 2 taken out I would’ve never gone back to get the rest pulled.
I had a molar removed 2 weeks ago and got dry socket. The clot fell out on day 4. The strange thing is I had NO PAIN.. just a tad sore and horrid taste in my mouth and stanky breath 😝. Today it's clotted. It's healing thank goodness. I have a tip that I just heard about =If you get dry socket just take your tooth brush and scrape the area mildly. It will cause bleeding and eventually a clot of you don't aggravate it. Dentists can't tell you to do but it works my friend did it.
I used Gauze all day (changing it every 45min -1hr) my dirst day until it was time to sleep. Today (next day) i don't really need it and I started to gently brush my teeth and rinse with only warm salt water. So far it's good, but I'm still afraid to actually eat LOL
I had all my upper teeth and one lower tooth removed yesterday afternoon. The nurse gave me a glass of water and a straw after my oral surgery. My mum gave me a straw for another drink the following night. I felt pain that night but now after Ibuprofen, I'm fine. All the extractions I had look good but I can't see or feel any clot on the back teeth. Should I be concerned?
I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled June 12th Monday and now it's Friday and not eating solids is so hard to do. As soon as mom told me that the Oral Surgeons didn't have to stitch me up was surprising I'm like gtfo. Does anyone know how long it takes for the holes from the wisdom teeth to heal if you didn't get stitches?
Travon Martin could you answer your own question? Lol its been 4 months since you've asked, so I assume you're healed and I'd love to know the answer cause that's how mine are right now....
Watching after my bleeding didn't stop... Doctor stitched me up but still bleeding alot infact... Thanks for the suction advice I just happen to drink a juice with a straw after the extraction maybe that's why.. and also spitting..
I have one now. I just think I didn’t bleed enough to form one. When I took the gauze out there was only a small pinprick drop of blood on it. I don’t smoke, no straws, no birth control...soft foods. So idk. But it HURTS so bad! I’m on my sixth day, went to my dentist. No infection, healing ok. He put a soothing paste and irrigated it. As long as I keep it clean and rinse with an antibacterial mouthwash, it keeps the pain down. But UGH!!! NOT FUN! 😕
I had my wisdom teeth removed and it wasn't bad. my mouth was a little sore when the Novocaine wore off but I had antibiotics and pills for the pain. was all good a few days later
I always keep my gauze the day of the extraction AND the whole next day and never get a dry socket. I am a heavy smoker btw, but I smoke carefully after an extraction.
Lets say i got one molar removed on the left side. No bleeding the second day. Is it ok to smoke if i waited from friday until the following tuesday???
I only had 1 wisdom removed, top right. Went extremely smooth. No prescribed meds from dentist. Curious if small dabs through the nose would be okay. Most of these stories come from people who’ve had all 4 removed
HalmarkCreates tops are often easier. I got both removed in like 5 min and I was good to go. Bottoms + impacted are a totally different story! And it sucks!
I dont get why dentists dont put a few stitches in or something to prevent this from happening. I got a lower molar pulled and i think i lost at least part of the clot it just wont stop hurting and this is day 8 i got no meds from the dentist just told me to take ibuprofen. Too hell with this pain
@@Iceis_Phoenix go have it looked at i let mine heal on its own and it still hasn't healed properly and it didn't stop hurting till about 23 days after it was pulled.
@@johnclifford7631 today is 5 days since pulled. It seems to be healing and the pain is bearable. I haft to go to work today. If it don't look better by Wed I'll go see the dentist I have Wed off. Thanks 😘
I got a stitch in my mouth where it was removed. As I bit down on one of the gauze pads very shortly after, I heard a sound that was very squeaky and squelching in nature. Now that I'm able to open my mouth and see what's happening because the swelling has finally gone down enough. And what happened is that somehow the tissue incision was stitched up but tore next to the stitch causing a whole new hole and leaving a dry socket. Sometimes there's just no way of winning.
I just had my wisdom tooth extracted (two hours ago) but the doctor didnt tell me not to spit (sorry but i was grossed by the taste of blood) so that's all I did since the minute I got home. I also touched it with my tongue many times, the emptiness it left felt weird so I couldn't help it. I am now worried this might cause a dry socket 😣 Am so pissed the doctor didnt even warn me!
Can you get it after 12 days? The bottom left side of my mouth is hurting a tiny bit starting about an hour ago ( it never hurt before at all). Also it was impacted.
hi sir r u practisng dentist?if yes then what is instant solution to a patient who comes in clinic with excrutiating pain swelling due to cavity?how is it fixed instantly ?is there any quick fix in the first place for this in modern dentistry so that the patient who comes with pain and tears goes home laughing and happy?
hello i had a top tooth removed 6 days ago i dont know how much longer i can go without smoking but the absorbable suture my dentist used is still in my mouth any tips
I really wanted to ask because they put some bone after they took out my wisdom bottom teeth. I was wondering if that was necessary because they changed me extra. I think it was bone filler. Please if you can let me know if I don't get scammed because I have to work a lot now to pay what I got I just want to know if it was worth it to get that bone filler, so I can stop feeling dumb about getting it.
Hello,I hope your okay., I'm not an expert but I think Bone grafting, or the use of bone filler, is a common procedure following tooth extractions, including wisdom teeth, and it serves several important purposes. you can ask Kriss AI about the purpose and benefits of bone filler. hope this help😊😊
I just got my wisdom teeth & the one before it pulled. I have no idea about these teeth pullings and the healing process but all I know is that I’m ready for the healing process to be over. I want real food. 😓😩 I need more introductions on how to properly take care of these holes. What do I do at night? How long do I gotta go without eating solid foods? How long it’s going to take for this hole to heal? 😓
is a dry socket able to heal properly on its own without dental procedures? I lost my clot the first day and seen bone, anyways ive had no pain and the site seems to be healing slowly with the exception of the sizable hole still visible it feels fine. Any advice would be appreciated.
if you had a dry socked you would know, There is no way it would be painless. But yes, dry sockets will heal on there own, they r just v painful. Also if you get dry socket it is a good idea to have prophylactic antibiotics.
Leocutiie probably whitish/yellowish/greenish its been 5 days and i now have what appears like a dark hole surrounded by whitish debris (not painful nor an infection) because its granulation tissue what worries me is the fact that there is a hole and it looks sketchy
lol... I had my first two removed a year ago and I went jogging the next day and I was perfectly fine.... I had my other two removed yesterday I won't go jogging I'll stay down but it's so hard for me to stay still.... I think what help the first time was I ate something warm (soup) and 30 minutes later something cold (ice cream). I think warm cold works.
its a tooth extraction not a limb amputation. I had a fractured molar removed following unsuccessful root canal and it has been no issue. I really don't know why people(who haven't had dry socket) are babies about this.
I haven't. I did however spit - not extremely forcefully, but I did about 45 minutes after the procedure. I have more canals than most so it was a HUGE tooth. It was the last molar on my left side - bottom. I read the directions that said if I was still bleeding a lot use another gauze pad. I did. Kept replacing them for 6 hours. Scared to eat. Scared to drink. Scared to swallow (makes a suction feeling). Scared to clear throat. Doc called me tonight. Said was all was going well so far, but I know me. I'm fearing the worst... I had my wisdom teeth out years ago. This is a molar that needed to be taken out due to mass decay.
I bled for 12 hours.. I was in A&E, nothing helped.. in the end Max Fax stopped the bleeding after 12 hours at the hospital. Now 3 days later, I'm in so much pain.
