So interesting and valuable for everyone. Presented in an objective non ego way to prove who’s right. Thank you. Edit: 1:03:49 fwd if taught at all schools and levels IMO would help feed lasting peace. Understanding, compassion, critical thinking, cooperation vs what is created long ago.

I really enjoy these topics, Dr. Sledge is the best source on this, Im a longtime subscriber. The esoteric secret teachings ties into what Dr. Carrier often goes into with Derek about the foundation of Christianity, Doecism, etc.

We need regular Derek & Dr Sledge … the past couple of vids have been endlessly engaging and super helpful and unique. I learned a heck of a lot from the previous video about both Judaism and anti-semitism. Will defo get diving into Justin Sledge’s RU-vid. Marvellous clear communicator who happens to have PhD in Philosophy and highly skilled in umpteen languages .. and uses all this to help folks like me who don’t have all these, to get complex things across simply .. that’s when you know you’re listening to someone with immense command of their subjects. Thanks Mythvision as ever for introducing us to amazing experts and for hosting them so well. Definitely get him back to do that dive into speaking in tongues you mentioned at very end - angel languages and even an Enochian language with actual grammar and vocabulary?? Come on, I’m on the edge of my seat awaiting this follow up … proper Netflix end of season cliffhanger lol 😂 ❤️

Something to correct is that one can't be invited into freemasonry. You have to request to join and then they'll under go the procedures to join. Inviting or asking people to join is against freemasonry rules.

"a man of many trades" because instead of merch he has an awesome business in selling rare old books - felt like the host is so steeped in antisemitism (his references to various friends and acquaintances, and later joking about how people talk about 'friends' just being a cover for their own views and activities), that even though trying not to be it creeps in subtly (just an impression)

You are sencable persons. I like the way you sound and your logic explanation. Information is power in this world. How out side or how honestly inside inspire people. History is written down and information get passed down. I victory how burnt the book of thier enemy. I think people how say God does exist. I like to ask these people why has people for years believe in this for years. Millions of people all over the world. We believe in some one you can't see. It an a act of faith and trust. He asked me and anyone who wants to know. Know on the door he said. like to listen and see your work.

My fascination with demon stuff, is when exactly did they demonize dreamers, seerer’s, prophetic decrees, etc? Because all that stuff was common in the Old Testament, so I assume it was common within the ancient world. Obviously there were specific people who could do these things but it was an accepted mindset. Then this thought led me to wonder what evidence exists from other sources? How far back in history do people with these skills exist? Which ultimately led me to Dr. Sledge and MythVision! So thank you both for making content to help me seek out the answers! (Still more questions pop up..LOL)😊

@1001011011010 5 месяцев назад
Not all such things were demonized. But some of them were. Today even if we look at the Catholic Church, say, when people have "private revelations" (as opposed to "public revelation" which the Church believes ended by the death of the last apostle) there is a whole process whereby it is reviewed or tested to judge if it is considered demonic or natural or worthy of belief to be of God.

@@1001011011010 and we can obviously just trust an organization who benefit’s from demonizing things. (Sarcasm 😉)
@1001011011010
@1001011011010 5 месяцев назад
@@kariannecrysler640 Regardless of believability, it is a good reference point for why/how things are viewed (ie natural, Godly, or demonic) as they basically have a checklist for bishops to follow in judgment (check out the document "NORMS REGARDING THE MANNER OF PROCEEDING IN THE DISCERNMENT OF PRESUMED APPARITIONS OR REVELATIONS" published by the "Sacred Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith"; I believe it is on the Vatican's website). Also useful for how people do this sort of thing on a personal basis can be rules of "discernment" (for instance, check out "14 Rules for the Discernment of Spirits by St Ignatius of Loyola"). I believe these references will help see why or how people come to think that certain things are demonic vs not and can be highly illuminating. Some of the common things are: the "spirit" pushing one to do what is believed to be wrong, to teach the "wrong" things, or produce otherwise "negative" sort of feelings/thoughts/actions.

Could the identity of the group would not be socialy ockward bc of their way of thinking ab the World and not the "fear" of their "occult" "teachings"? Also, could there not be other reasons behind the assesination other than the "discovery"? much thanks

Dr. Sledge, and whats the difference between the creation of the cábala and the creation of the Jesús literature? Wouldnt both be made after a great process of violence? We cannot colectivly believe that some person is magical and the other person is not magical. Why cant we all make miracles?? bc of my lack of faith? please...

So the essential question revolving around mystical experiences revolves around how does one put legs on a mystery belief. Before I get into a philosophical reasoning let me just point out. -Heavens gate cult. -The mormons under Joseph Smith - James Jones and the Jonestown massacre. - David Koresh and the Waco massacre. Justin and Angelica were have a live stream the other day and someone asked about magical practice. neither confirmed that they practiced magic. But magic breaks down into two areas, the techniques one use to create illusions, essentially putting a spin on the exterior world to shape the belief of the recipient. But magic could also be a mystic practice (e.g. magic mushrooms). So here in lies the problem with practicing mysticism and teaching mysticism. The more effective the technique, the more the practices fall into the category of magic and the more likely you are to see product delusional behaviors. So christianity from the second century on had rather benign initiation ritual and the mystics were increasingly cloistered, the mystical experiences for the lay are essentially being directed by icons and they resemble city state centric idolatrous practices. They are setting the lay up to experience the divine the way they want the lay to experience the divine. Early christianity was more open, more mobile, they had effective practices and their ideas were not "cloistered". So we see how mystery religions can close ranks and open up. But which is best. Again open practices means that people can use magic practices and come up with all kinds of strange beliefs. Closing practices means that you can replace the theology of the original sect with images of saints and poweful ecclesiastic structure. You are creating a kind of idolatry. The conflict here is a great difficulty for practicing mysticism because there is no set danger threshold for mysticism that says everything os good, but beyond this level of practice and you start serving toddlers cyanide Koolaide. There are natural mystics that have effectively no set practice, there are mystics that simply meditate and occassionally have visions, and there are people who cant have visions unless they take a hallucinogenic substance. So imagine you are a mystic teacher, you want to make sure that you can control exteme outcomes. Every mystic teacher is teaching based on traditional points of reverence. The cloister, a specially decorated room, readings of certain religious texts, reference to certain other mystics, prophets or deities, and within that cukturally accepted context those mystical experience are not part of the occult. Remove the points of reverence and they are defacto part of the occult. Marguirite Porete is a good example, she is technically not part of a heretical occult, but she might as well have been. This is why I make the point, mystics should not be teaching non-mystics magic. They should be teaching mystics discipline in their practices so that they are not deluding themselves into a belief that they possess a power which they do not possess. I am sorry if this seems exclusive, but this is the way it has to be. Moreover, there is likely something psychological about natural mystics that permits them to have lucid visions, so its not an issue of the having a superior, but simply a variation that might be helpful and might be harmful. Esoteric mysticism in its most abstract form of vision seeking is something that should be kept hidden.

I don’t think Dr Sledge believes what he’s in expert in is true in any literal sense. Maybe you commented before watching the interview? Just to clarify, are you saying that the anthropology, sociology, psychology and/or historical-critical study of religion is childish?
