That initial sensor within the bmcc 2.5k really is magical. It's got that touch and feel that the newer versions since the ursa made its debut and whenever they made the switch to bm raw. Outside of the Arri Alexa and the like, I've still yet to use a digital camera that lets me manipulate the footage like film as the bmcc did. It's still a wonderful camera nearly a decade on and STILL the gold standard for what digital cameras not named Arri should strive to match.

Superb video. I just unboxed my BMCC 2.5K EF, purchased in November, 2014, and never used. Life got in the way. I'm gearing up and looking forward to the journey ahead.

I dont understand why there are not more views on many of your videos. Your cinematic eye is amazing. I love seeing your shots and examples of movies showing the obvious cinematic look, not just in the great sensor in the BMCC but your actual set ups and flow

Because true cinema is art, and art isn't really that popular... About once a week people ask me some question about my cameras and audio etc gear that I'm slowly accumulating and messing around with, and the most common question is "what do you do with all this", and then after I've answered they say "Yest but what do you ACTUALLY DO with it???" hehehehe. Taking pictures, making short movies, figuring out a way to convey what I see and how I feel about it, doesn't "count" to them, it HAS to have some ultimate purpose ending in me making money or becoming famous, or something like that, to them. They don't understand wanting to do something and getting pleasure out of achieving what you want as an end product, it HAS to be about money, or fame, preferably both. I'm just saying this regarding your 'why not more views' not as an answer, but it likely has to do with what I thought of, in part at least.

@@noth606 This phenomenon is easy to explain. The turbulent technological development in cinematography - this is what attracts people to the cinema. People want to be part of this process, it's natural. The cinema itself is just an addition. 😁

You pretty much nailed it on the head! This video is the BMCC Sensor encyclopedia (note, I didn't use the term "wikipedia"). I just mounted modded 2x anamorphic projection lens on my BMCC 2.5k to go out shooting with it. Its the most underrated camera and I believe its a good thing. It leaves the creative space wide open for the ones who actually get it!

Cool , most BMCC owners still think their camera is bad in low light. That is what they found out from youtube video - gurus.🤣

My take is: 1st gen blackmagic cameras where so underrated and still are! They where priced as consumer cameras but performed as top tier pro cameras, you just need to know your stuff as a filmmaker to exploit their great potential. But people nowadays want everything to be easy and A.I driven so they can push a button and watch the camera do the work, so they do not have to make any choices, THEY are the product in this case and not the camera. So, the 2.5K looks cinematic because it is capable but only when people like you, who are true filmakers and not lazy wedding videographers, use it the right way. The rest is marketing BS and insecure/incompetent people claiming cameras must do what they cannot do in the first place.✌

Yes. Why it is difficult to make a good movie is one topic, the other is that of contemporary blurring of the notion of what a movie is at all. This is for both ideological and marketing reasons. That's why I made this video. 🎥🔑

When you take these examples of film stock, many of them can be made with telecine or another low quality process which limits DR, color information and other.

I shot my last two indie features with the 2.5k [ The Yaku and the Undefeated & Bitch Lover] both on Tubi TV, for my next film I've been doing side by sides with the 6k and the 12k, they are sharper, tighter pixel pattern, more detail but they don't look better(IMHO),

Any idea if the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera has any of those attributes from 2.5k camera? The reason I ask is because it's the camera I bought to get away from the look of most of these modern digital cameras. I can't stand the ultra sharp look. When I watch a film I want to be taken away to another place.
@_arturjutkowiak_film
@_arturjutkowiak_film 2 года назад
Sure, Micro has 100% legitimate, classic Blackmagic look.

As an owner of the bmmcc, the color and the look is similar but different, both has the good old black magic color science, I felt the bmcc is easier for me to grade a film look. Bmcc 2.5k has better details, and the sharpness is spot on. For quality I'll choose the bmcc, for lightweight or solo filmmaking both og bmpcc or bmmcc is a solid choice.
