BninjaPro do a lot of research it will help you understand a lot of things once your baby is born. It may seem scary because maybe like me this was the first time you hear of the defect, but I promise you our babies are warriors and they will not let anything stop them from entering this world. I was 7 months pregnant when they had to induce me to give birth since my daughter had pooped in the womb and her heart rate was dropping, it was really scary seeing her so tiny but I knew that she would be okay. Your baby will stay in the nicu for a while because depending on how big or small the gastroschisis is then they can do the surgery the same day or weeks after, our daughter had her closure done 3 days after birth. It will feel hard at some times seeing your child be in an incubator and not being able to hold and comfort them when you want to but you have to be strong, because you're all the baby has as strength, so I looked up a lot of RU-vid videos, googled pictures of how they looked so I could know what to expect when my baby was born and also look up the tools that they use, like for example the sylo is the bag that they put the intestines in so they won't get infected. Congratulations on your pregnancy, enjoy it to the fullest, it's still a normal pregnancy, it's just once they're born where they need a little more care❤️

Eliana Brown Hi! I love meeting other Gastro warriors, if I may ask, is there any symptoms or problems you get now due to Gastroschisis?

stephanie perez When I was born it was so rare as I live in the UK. I was rushed to the nearest hospital that could or knew how to deal with it. We ended up around 3-4 hours away from the original hospital. Then more of my insides came out. I had 3 surgerys in total and they put me on trial medicine that had not been tried ever. Instead of it taking 6 months to heal in hospital which it did before the medicine, I was healed in 8 weeks. I had a doctor in Leeds where this all happened named Dr crab which had trained in this sort of stuff. He said I was a miracle baby and he said without me babies wouldn't have more of chance of surviving and they wouldn't heal as fast.
