Hello!
I was fortunate enough to have this conversation with Dr. Fo Adunni almost a year and a half ago where we explored various natural hair topics like Good Hair privilage, the hair typing chart, etc.
I may put out the entire conversation or clip up certain topics. Don't forget to comment below your thoughts on the conversation! and if you'd like to watch the whole 1.5 hour convo vs. 15 min. clips. Thanks for watching!

The thing that stuck out to me during this talk are is that we have to redefine what is “easy”. Celebrating the beautiful things our hair does naturally is definitely the way forward. Thank you for this needful conversation.

Great video! I was amazed someone else had the same thoughts as a young girl as I did about Tia amd Tamara on Sista Sista. I compared myself to them a lot and I put myself down. Mom didn't know any better but she let me play with white Barbie dolls too...put myself down more. Wow, if we could pay closer attention to our black daughters and what they take in, it would make a world of difference!

Moral of the story: All hair is good hair. There are different criteria for beauty for every culture and person. We've got to learn to love our diversity and appreciate our differences. We can't just assume that a certain group has it easy. It's kinda hard out here for all of us honestly. The grass just always seems to be greener in other people's yards

Very interesting and the vulnerability was well appreciated..i even found myself feeling cringy inside for the false beliefs ive held on to and currently practicing letting go of.

We have ease of not needing to wash as frequently to stop from looking oily, not worrying about hair looking flat, and also we have ease of changing styles from day to day. That's the reason I finally combed out my dreadlocks after 23 years. I loved the ease of them and the look of them, but I missed the versatility of our natural hair. Now I can go from a twistout one day to a blowout the next and a puff, braids, big twists, etc. days later. I love it.

Ladies..not throwing u off topi..but I think this discussion applies even skin color.. Am brown skin ,a shade others would term as lighter and it also applies.i tend to get more attention than others and I hate it I find it disgusting.people can talk about how beautiful I am and stare a lot and It makes me very uncomfortable. Am struggling.results, I can't make eye contact with people,I have low self esteem because I am overly conscious of myself and this has led to abuse from people telling me off and expecting me to take in what the demand, like finding me an easy doormat, for example they say u are so pretty ,your smile is pretty u couldn't hurt a fly. I hope u get me.

I agree that colorism is definitely connected to this topic.

This is a very good video. I have curly 4 textured hair some of my hair is silky and other parts are more coarse. My hair is easy to take care of because I understand what it needs and I give it what it needs. I love my hair and it’s absolutely beautiful. I literally spent most of my life wearing fake hair because I had no idea how beautiful my natural hair was/is. I will never use fake hair again as a substitute for loving my hair. It’s a gift from the creator and I am so thankful of the blessing of having beautiful afro textured hair.

12:35 in my experience, it's usually people with straight or loosely curly hair telling me how hard my hair is and how much easier their hair is in comparison to mine lmao. sometimes it's annoying actually especially when it's said out of context.
