We explain in detail what is grade II listed and what is not included in the listing, at Swindon's iconic Oasis Leisure Centre. Listing is not necessarily prohibitive, as things can still be altered, made energy efficient and improved. E.g. new slides, tiles, features etc. The dome can be retrofitted with replacement dome panels which can keep the heat of the pool in better. The pool itself, can be heated with solar energies. There's lots of things that Swindon Borough Council and Seven Capital can do with the grade II listed Oasis. It should be embraced. Listing is not the problem. Lack of willpower is. The Oasis is the last pool of its type in the United Kingdom, and the listing stands for this reason. They need to crack on with its restoration. They have a legal obligation to keep a listed building in order.
