Thank you to the amazing doctors at the Norman Parathyroid Center! I first want to say thank you for letting me know that I have not been crazy over the past 4 or 5 years with how lousy I have been feeling! Over the past 4 years my primary care doctor told me that my blood calcium levels of 10.1-10.4 were normal, as he diagnosed me with GERD, rapid unexplained heart issues, and osteopoenia. My continual diagnosis of GERD and most recent diagnosis of osteoporosis made me get online and find a doctor who would listen to my concerns and address what was really going on with me! I feel blessed that I found the Norman Parathryoid Center! I immediately started sending email questions to Dr. Politz and Dr. Boone. They made me aware that I truly had a real issue, so I made the trip to Tampa from NC, and Dr. Boone, Dr. Politz and Dr. Parrack just removed 3.5 tumors from my parathyroids last week! You guys really need to educate other doctors out there who have missed major red flags pointing to hyperparathyroidism. God only knows how many people are being misdiagnosed, or just not diagnosed at all! If you are over the age of 40 and a doctor tells you that a normal range for blood calcium levels is over 10.0, then get a new doctor! It's been one week since my surgery and I feel great! I immediately felt no bone pain once I woke up from surgery. I got in the car and drove 3 hours to my mom's home, eating ice cream along the way, and feeling fine, just a little tired. The past week I did my normal routine, and just had a bit difficulty sleeping at night on my back, as I am a side sleeper and that was a bit uncomfortable trying to sleep on my side with the incision. Now one week later my sleep is back to normal, I feel fantastic, and most importantly my osteoporosis will reverse itself! I am only 52 years old, very fit and active, so I could not accept my doctor's diagnosis that I just had to deal with my osteoporosis, and that it was a result of my menopause. What nonsense! Having high blood calcium AND osteoporosis clearly indicates only one disease...hyperparathyroidism. Shame on my now ex-doctor that he didn't see the warning signs for the past 4 years! I can't express enough how amazing the Norman Parathyroid Center surgeons are! I am so thankful that I took the time to do a bit of research, and to ask questions of my now ex-primary care doctor who just wasn't making any sense with his diagnoses or "professional" advice. He clearly needs new training in the medical field! I am gung-ho about being an advocate for the Norman Parathryoid Center, as I feel like so many illnesses might not even exist if this issue is adequately addressed. And of course pharmaceutical companies don't care about this disease as they stand to make no money with it! All I know is if I had continued under the care of my former doctor who was just watching my high blood calcium for the past 4 years and doing nothing with the red flags presented to him, then my health would be seriously compromised in the next few years with calcium accumulation in my bloodstream, and calcium being leached from my bones. So thank you again for saving my life. I am tweeting, posting and blogging everywhere I can about the Norman Parathyroid Center. A person asked me about this disease and what she should ask her doctor. I told her to ask her endocrinologist how many parathyroidectomies she has done, then move on from the amateur doctors and contact the Norman parathyroid center in Tampa, to deal with the pro doctors who do this all day long! Doesn't everyone want the best??? I did! You guys also saved me from having this operation a year or so down the road, where you were able to test my other parathyroids to know that they also needed to be removed. Thank you for testing them all and knowing which parathyroids to remove (in my case 3.5!) and not just stopping when one bad parathyroid was found. You guys are awesome!! I am forever thankful for your expertise, kindness and humanity.

I took my sister, who was 73 years of age, to the ER around 11:30 p.m.on a Sunday. Her blood was tested in the ER and she was diagnosed with a high level of calcium in her blood. She died on Monday at 9 a.m., still in the ER, waiting for a bed on the Progressive Medicine Unit. No official reason was given for her death and I requested an autopsy. I am anxiously waiting for the results of her autopsy. She was diagnosed with Osteoporosis in 2004 and nothing was ever done about it when I gave her doctor a copy of the results of her preventative Osteoporosis test. I wish I had run across this video a long time ago or had found even found a doctor who was willing to try to find how to treat or even eliminate some of the many small things that multiplied and worsened her health. I am expecting to see a diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism in the autopsy report because I believe , based on the symptoms that she presented with, will show that hyperparathyroidism was one of the problems that led to her death! All her many symptoms were attributed to her hydrocephalus and I could not get many doctors to try to find out and/or to treat/eliminate many of her problems. She was a strong person and lived for 73 years despite her doctors giving her a death sentence for every thing that ailed her. Thank you Norman Parathyroid Center. I wish I had know about this condition earlier.

In this video Dr. Norman explains in a ''matter of fact'' heart to heart talk with his patients exactly what causes Hyperparathyroidism. He draws a diagram to show how a tumor is formed on a parathyroid gland which releases PTH ''24-7'' which in turn causes your bones to release calcium which leads to Osteoporosis. Brief, to the point, and easy to understand! This video is the first step in understanding the"Extreme Fatigue'' factor - a major symptom of this disease. Dr. Norman does not try to impress in his explanations but humbly explains in language easy to understand. His diagrams make it easy to visually retain that of which he speaks! Definitely a ''first step'' ''must see'' for a patient! S.L. Osborn Overland Park, Kansas
