Thanks for the work on your videos, much appreciated. - We're getting our 2nd LDV, first was a T60 ute, now we're getting a D90. - Found a D90 Diesel 4WD Demo at a great price; compared to what you pay for mainstream brands it's an easy choice. I know we'll have issues, problems etc with the D90, just like our T60, but the ute has only started to have some engine start issues at 167,000km, so who cares considering how cheap these are to start with. Once the T60 needs a replacement; it'll be straight back to LDV for their new T60 model for an upgrade. - I'm really impressed with how far Chinese vehicles have come over the years. - Fair, some brands from China are still .... questionable... but LDV seems to be improving and making a long-term go at these vehicles, I hope they keep it up.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts mate, and overall I agree - who cares about issues after 100,000 kms if the car comes THAT cheap? 😉👌

Nice to know that you are nice with the new car which we call in India as Gloster and nice to know that one sits higher or rather the one with a view. I haven’t been inside but seen it at the dealership at Kochi from where I bought my Astor which is ZS to you. Here is wishing many smiling miles with new one.

Thank you for the kind words my friend, I hope you enjoy your Astor as the cars are solid from what I can tell so far!

I bought a D90 bi turbo diesel 8 speed 4wd five or six weeks ago. -The ride quality and comfort of the D90 is on par with a Calais on the highways and freeways. And, surprisingly, in city streets -The distributor sent me a thousand dollar fuel card 3 weeks after I took delivery of it. This is very much appreciated given the cost of diesel nowadays -The infotainment system and the 'instrument' cluster screens work well although they are not intuitive at all, at all. But if you take the time to learn the ins and outs they work well. -Fuel economy...The best way to drive economically is to use cruise control as much as possible.The Calais had a 72 litre tank while the D90 has a 75 litre tank but the Calais goes further on one tank then the D90 does. -The cruise control on the D90 is pretty clunky compared to the Calais. But it is not simply a cruise control; it is ADAPTIVE cruise control and its nearly caused two accidents by sharply decelerating the car because of the car in front. BUT it takes no notice of the car behind and how close it is when it decides to do this. -The (electric?) steering is as light as a very light thing and gives a very, very tight turning circle. Its a big lump of a thing so I have been deliberately taking it to supermarket car parks as much as possible to learn how to park the thing. While it may be slower to park/maneuver in the car park then what I am used to it is still easy to park given the light steering, turning circle and the excellent reversing camera. Reverse parking is not a problem but do be careful backing into a supermarket parking space. I have fitted a very large tow bar which is in full view of the reversing camera so I know when I should stop. -The automatic stop/start system is an abortion of a thing given the extra work it will put the starter motor through. Minimal fuel savings versus the cost of replacing a starter motor earlier than it should be. The stop/start system cannot be permanently turned off due to (according to the dealer) the government insisting it be there. -The automatic rain detector works well. Not great but well. -It comes with an actual cigarette lighter. The old fashioned push down until the element heats up then pull out to light up that cigar. I was surprised until I remembered that the Chinese all smoke. -There are not enough usb ports in the front. (or anywhere else, for that matter) -It feels top heavy going around round-abouts. To the extent that I am worried about rolling it -Getting back to the adaptive cruise control...I do use it when I can. I can be driving along in city traffic and the D90 will slow down, come to a halt behind the car in front (stopped at a light maybe) while keeping the engine running and then accelerate away without me touching brake or accelerator. It does take its time getting underway again...but no one has beeped at me to get moving so its not too bad. Bumper to bumper stop start traffic on the freeway found me rarely using either peddle. -It doesn't look like it will get through the fast food driveways without scraping the walls but it fits nicely if a bit snugly. -The second row of seats (3 seats)has the middle seat right in the middle. This means the headrest for that seat blocks the view behind from the rear view mirror. Most annoying given that you must use the two external mirrors to try and get some sort of view of what is immediately behind -The two side mirrors are excellent. -The paddle gear selectors are an exciting go fast feature (up there with twin overhead flying foxtails) but, all in all, useless. -The amber flashing tell tales for the blind spot indicators work but they do not grab your attention like the ones on the Calais. The problem is they are not bright enough -Off road. i have no off road experience -apart from dirt bikes- so i took it on some secondary dirt roads in the rain, splashing through the smaller puddles etc etc. So far Ive clocked up around 200 ks on the dirt. Nothing fell off or vibrated loose -

Can you turn off the adaptive cruise control or is it automatic?
@jsegal8385
@jsegal8385 Год назад
@@kirristammers4661 I havent really looked for a way to remove the adaptive part so its just a basic cruise control. I like it as is and use it all the time. Also cruise control usage improves fuel economy a LOT. The last car I had was a Holden Calais with basic cruise control and adaptive is better, in my opinion

@@jsegal8385 and you’ve had no issues with it suddenly braking too hard? If I don’t want to use it I don’t have to turn the button on correct? I’ve read reviews and the older models you can’t turn it off unless they mean they can’t use normal cruise control
@jsegal8385
@jsegal8385 Год назад
@@kirristammers4661 I have. But that is the collision avoidance thingie .It will do it if a car changes into your lane to close to in front of you, for example. You can reduce the sensitivity of the auto breaking or even turn it off to alarm only and no braking. The dead tree owners manual tells you what it can do. The on screen manual tells you how to do it. I suggest you spend an hour or two going through the menus on the screen

I have my second ldv today, the g10 for work and just pick up my D90 for family, it has everything that i need, powerful, spacious, good looking, and most importantly the price, it love it very much, Chinese cars are a trend for its value, you could pay a double price( price more)for Japanese, or a triple price(or more) for German

Thanks for your interest mate - this 2WD model is definitely not built for off-road, so that would be rather embarrassing, but I'll definitely do some more driving around for sure.

Have you tried seeing if there’s a setting for the sensitivity for the rain sensor? I know some cars come with options to set it at different sensitivity levels, maybe there’s an option in settings? Anyways, can’t wait for when the next video comes out!

Love your videos mate. Is your D90 2WD? Any issue with traction? Did you consider LDV G10 before getting the D90?
@ValueCarsAU
@ValueCarsAU 2 года назад
Thanks mate, yes it's a 2WD and if by traction you mean power of take off then yes, there are a few negatives around that. Or do you mean literally tyre traction on the road? I did consider G10 - I could share my thoughts on it in a different video if you think its worth it?
@sambala4690
@sambala4690 2 года назад
@@ValueCarsAU i was considering the G10 as i mainly need passenger space and not interested going offroad. The lack of safety on the G10 scares me a bit especially there's no curtain airbags for passengers. which is why i am now thinking abt D90 2WD. Yes i was referring to tyre traction on the road being a RWD car. How do you feel abt this aspect of the drive experience?

How does the istop work. Is it refined when it restarts? Does it work with aircon on? Can you turn it off permanently or do you have to do it each time you restart the car?
@ValueCarsAU
@ValueCarsAU 2 года назад
You mean stop-start? Its not great, I'll talk about it separately. Yes it works with Aircon on, why wouldn't it? But yeah you have to turn it off every time you start the car which is very annoying

@@ValueCarsAU My new Mazda sometimes doesn’t work with aircon on. But it turns on and off seamlessly. As you say many manufacturers have same/similar features but how they actually work in real life differs greatly.

@@ValueCarsAU so today my wife received the 1000km first service and asked the question about start stop in new Mazda. The answer is actually good news. Basically newer Mazda models have controls in place so that if the battery is no optimal or electronics are being used at sufficient capacity (air con, other systems) the start stop functionality turns off automatically to preserve the battery. In the past Mazda vehicles had slot of problems with the battery being drained when using start stop. I am happy with this answer as I would rather have a solid battery than any savings from start stop. So the question for your new LDV vehicle is whether similarly they have the same controls in place and do they turn of start stop when it's suboptimal for the battery.

Do you recommend to change the suspension before receiving from dealer.

I wasn't sure if it's an option? 🤷‍♂️ I think it's rather rigid, truck-like, and I personally don't mind it. But after MG HS you can definitely feel how relatively "hard" it is.
