It's that Miyagi had a dark past, like Johnny. And Daniel is going to realize that Johnny deserves another chance. Daniel hasn't been giving Johnny a chance, but after he learns about Miyagi's past - he'll give Johnny a chance, help him turn around his life, and ultimately stop Kreese
We see, though, that Daniel was beginning to realize that about Johnny, already, after that dinner, he and his wife had with Johnny and Carmen. When Johnny tells Daniel that his Cobra Kai, is not like Kreese’s, you can see, in Daniel’s eyes, that Johnny has Daniel’s attention, about that statement, but that’s when the girls come back, so we get no dialogue. The thing that messes up Daniel’s change of heart, is the big school fight. Daniel is back and forth, and all over the place, in his view of Johnny.
Could be possible. Remember, Daniel said that one of the last things Miyagi taught him was the spring up, two-legged kick. It definitely has *something* to do with a part of Miyagi-Do that Mr. Miyagi "choze" not to share with Daniel. Daniel was already looking toward karate for revenge when he first met Miyagi. Miyagi also saw that Daniel had a lot of rage and anger issues in him as well, hence the lessons of balance and that Karate must only be used for defense. If this is the route they are going with, then this is definitely what the end result will be.
Valmont1978 “You could have killed him couldn’t you?” “Aye” “Well why didn’t you?” “Because Daniel San, for man with no forgiveness in heart, life worse punishment than death...”
@@NXSProductions That's a good point. Daniel Larusso had a Sonny Corleone temper but a Fredo Corleone body. It was best that Miyagi teach Daniel to proceed from a more balanced form rather than one that emphasized brutality. Terry Silver pretty much proved that the line between Daniel and Johnny is a lot thinner than either of them likes to think.
The secret: Mr Miyagi: Daniel-san... here is final secret lesson... when people piss off you... you Break Neck and legs!!! They never bother you again!!! Daniel: Mr. Miyagi... wouldn't that be killing them? Mr. Miyagi: Hai... why you think i have medal of Honor? Daniel: What about Kreese? You didn't kill him though! Mr Miyagi: Too Many Witnesses. Do in secret... that is the secret, Daniel-san.
My theory is that Mr. Miyagi left out the most lethal and dangerous techniques, out of Miyagi-Do Karate, when he taught Daniel Larusso. The reason being that he saw, what happened to his childhood best friend and former fellow student, Mr. Sato who became a ruthless and heartless man, due to the love triangle, between him, Yukie and Mr. Miyagi. So this might be the big secret that Chozen might be alluring to.
ニュージーランド・スイサイド my theory is that Kumiko is Miyagi and Yukie’s daughter. I always found it odd she was Yukie’s “niece.” Too fishy. Plus Miyagi was so adamant “Daniel San. Never keep lady waiting.”
@@deceptiondispeller4 she is far to young to be miyagos daughter just like the theory chozen is his son miyagi fought in WW.2 with the US army so then kumiko had to be born in in the 40's that means she would be in her 40's when she met daniel
I’m a big fan of this channel. I think miyagi was a bully in his early days like Johnny, perhaps even to sato. This would explain why miyagi seemed to understand Johnny so well and why he was so quick to save him from kreese. This would also push the story forward of why Daniel needs to team up with Johnny and let the past go. It may also explain why sato held such a large grudge, similar to how Daniel holds a grudge to small degree against Johnny
Chad Zorn I personally think that’s very shaky territory and the writers would be taking a huge risk tainting miyagi’s character like that. Respectfully disagree and hope that’s not the case.
think of this what if pat morita was alive today . and was in the show . and miyagi .talked to johnny . and without daniel knowing . takes johnny under is wing teaching him about life . not really karate cause we know johnny is awesome at it . but just life and that will turn johnnys life around to were hes not much of a hot head .. how would mr miyagi say this ... you dont always have to win the fight ...to be badass . win lose no matter . you put up good fight you earn respect .not just Karate but whole life . how awesome would it be to see johnny being taugh by Mr Miyagi .to were he is much like a father to johnny as much as he is to daniel
A theme of the series so far has been to add complexity to the characters. Sometimes the good guy isn't always good and the bad guy isn't so bad. I think season 3 will reveal that Miyagi has some darkness in his past. The fact that in Karate kid part 2, we hear little detail on what happened in Okinawa from anybody other than Mr. Miyagi will work well with this from a storyline perspective. My guess is that we'll see that Sato was, to a large degree, justified in holding his grudge for so long.
My theory is that Miyagi only taught Daniel what Daniel needed to know, not everything that Miyagi knew. Look at the first techniques that Miyagi taught Daniel, "Wax the car", "Sand the floor" "Paint the fence" and "Paint the house". All defense technique. Then there's the mantra "Karate for defense only." Then there's the "Crane Technique" and "The Drum Technique". Both were taught at techniques of last resort. Looking at how the "Crane technique" is portrayed. Its a front kick that goes straight up. Johnny basically walks into the kick. So its not a very aggressive technique. Looking at the "Drum technique". Its a block/strike combo that is performed as one movement. But its the block that comes first. Maybe Miyagi felt that Daniel needed this techniques and withheld others from Daniel. Maybe Miyagi saw that Daniel need to more defense and less offense. Also something in martial arts and in martial arts movie, the idea of "Secret technique" and "Secret student". In Chinese "Secret Students" is translated to "Disciple of the inner chamber". These students are taught the "Secret techniques". Only the senior best students were chosen. Sometimes that wasn't always the sons. Example Wing Chun, Biu Chee is a "Secret technique". Bruce Lee was a Wing Chun guy. As good as Bruce Lee was, he wasn't taught this technique by his master Ip Man.
Maybe there’s another secret technique that Daniel never learned, or maybe he never actually learned the true benefits of the drum technique because at the end of the trailer we hear the drums.
@@danbh84 I think that's the wrong take. Social awareness is very much portrayed as being positive in the show, even if some characters adhering to those general ideas end up being the butt of jokes. Usually what gets criticized isn't "wokeness" itself per se but lip service, such as Xander "moment of silence" Stone or the school counselor that just ineffectually lectures and hopes everyone gets along without putting any actual effort into addressing bullying.
Im gonna guess that Mr. Miyagi used to teach and claim that offense was better and to show no mercy, like Cobra Kai, but when he met his love, he changed that.
dbmabe I looked up the history of Okinawa and oddly enough they did have Koreans over there and engaged in trade with them so it is possible. It could be that Cobra Kai is an offshoot of Myagi Do
dbmabe this could be a possibility but remember in KK3 Terry Silver mentioned that his master was from South Korea. Just something to think about! But still a possibility
Isaac Yeon my theory is that that the secret is Kumiko is miyagi and Yukie’ daughter. I always found it fishy she was Yukie’s “niece.” Plus I think another clue was how Miyagi scolded Daniel and said “Daniel San. Never keep lady waiting”. I think that’s what truly caused the feud with Sato. Miyagi got yukie pregnant
this is going to be the slow creation of miyagi kai, the balance of miyagi and the no mercy of cobra kai. creating a balance of being ruthless YET merciful. MIYAGI KAI!
Yes, but this only works, if it’s also for the purpose of having Johnny and Daniel become true friends, from here on out. No more back and forth bull shit.
@@bendutchover1319 If Daniel and Johnny become true friends, the show is over. You can't have drama without conflict. The whole show is based on the conflict between Daniel and Johnny.
I've been saying that since the end of last season miyagi do karate and cobra kai will come together and Johnny and Daniel will have to put aside their bullshit
Miyagi's training of Daniel was one of necessity. He needed to know the basics to adequately defend himself. There is little to no time advancement from parts 1 and 2. Even 3 is no more than a year later from the finale of part 1. Daniel by Cobra Kai standards has subsequently had decades to train and learn off screen. What I like is that Daniel in season 2 takes a lot more Miyagi based fighting stances versus the tournament version of himself. So he has clearly learned. As for Chozen he has Sato's training and the few possible childhood years of learning somethings from Miyagi Snr. His phrasing isn't sinister, it is simply a case of don't be arrogant. Chozen has likely never stopped training where as Daniel clearly has. I am seriously hoping to see a redeemed Chozen as he was taught by anger and disdain with Sato. he is almost a mirror of how Miguel has been misguided by Johnny's teachings of Kreese Cobra Kai karate.
I think you hit the nail on the head... he was taught both defense and offense and he used offense and ending up killing someone, like you said, possibly in the war. I made my own theory how they could tie it in with the timeline of ww2 and the division he was in, the 442nd. After the German line falls to the 442nd during the first week of May 1945 , Miyagi with his mates are relaxing now smoking a cig, getting drunk, in a burnt out German town realizing the war is over in Europe when suddenly , out of the fog and dirty bomb ridden air ,walks up a secretive Intelligence military General. "This war isnt over, soldiers! How many of you would like to volunteer for an undercover mission?" Half drunk Miyagi looks around at his fellow friends, smiles at the General... "Well, I would Sir!" Miyagi starts laughing, "Where are we heading?" The General stares and grins at Miyagi, "Okinawa, Seargent.... Now, fall in line!" The smile from Miyagis face slowly fades away as he realizes his fate has now been sealed. He will be going home to face those he abandoned 5 years before. From that starting point, Miyagi's secretive background story begins. At this point in time (historical fact), the US military would of been 30 days into the Battle of Okinawa, the last battle of World War 2. The battle would rage on for another month and a half. Most people dont know this story and it would be fascinating to explore with a fictional character like Miyagi. The secret could be that Miyagi kills someone who attacked him on Okinawa during his recon mission, possibly a young child/boy. This affects him greatly and makes him change his mind about karate. Sato was there and witnessed the entire episode and he tells Chozen about it later on. When Miyagi does a recon of Okinawa for US Intelligence, he runs into Sato who is working for the Japanes Imperial army and subjugating his village on Okinawa. In exchange for his obedience he was given land by the Japanese Monarchy as payment. When he learns from Miyagi that the island is about to be completely taken over by Allied troops he decides to decieve Miyagi and surrenders to the American General in charge of the battle betraying the Japanese Imperial Army realizing the US will soon win the war. He makes a deal with US brass to give them all the information of where the officers and military hideouts are on the island in exchange for his freedom AND all the land that was given to him by the Japanese Monarchy. This will explain how he owns so much land in the village and where he got all his initial wealth from and why he is such an Ahole in KK2 All of this would fit nicely into what happened at the end of WW2 and give everyone a little history lesson of the 442nd and the Battle of Okinawa.
Ed So my theory is that the secret is Kumiko is Miyagi and yukie’s daughter. I think that’s what truly caused the feud with Sato. Miyagi got Yukie pregnant. I always found it too fishy that Kumiko was yukie’s “niece.” Why was she living with her as her niece? Plus Miyagi even scolded Daniel once before his date with Kumiko. He said “Daniel San. Never keep lady waiting.” I think that was a clue she is his daughter also.
@@deceptiondispeller4 good theory, but there is no way Miyagi knew, if anything, Yuki kept the truth from him... but it wouldnt work because Yuki made up with Miyagi, so he would of found out about it. Bigger question is, who is Chozen? Chozen was Sato's nephew..lol Is Chozen and Yuki sister and brother?.. lol uhg. I think it is going to be a story line that Miyagi did something to change his idea of what karate is and why he is so passive. A good story line for Chozen would revolve around why he was so scared of the hurricane in KK2..... Lets say his parents died in a hurricane when he was little and thats why he freaked out, would also explain why he was raised by Sato. Could also explain why Sato is an a hole, his brother who died in the hurricane, lets say 10 years prior, was Chozens father. Simple backstory like that would also explain that Chozen wasnt really a bad guy, just living in grief and fear until the events of KK2 when it all came to a head.
I came across this and I was like, wait a minute, your voice sounds familiar, and then I looked hmmmm, Cobra Kai Theory? You are the Star Wars Theory Guy!!!
@@untamedbeast8114 yes but yuki was still alive in karate kid 3 so maybe he and yuki made love and after miyagi left chozen was the child which would make sense why miyagi didn't say anything. He was ashamed
@@ajcanepa2197 that just doesn’t work though. I thought the secret would be that Kumiko was miyagis daughter but it doesn’t work for the same reason. Kumiko is too young. Chozen is too young too. Miyagi was only 18 when it happened. Chozen would have needed to be much older to be miyagi’s son. I believe the secret is that Sato taught keeese and silver. Chozen was teaching American military police in sato’s dojo.
I have to disagree with the theories about Miyagi's "dark side". The writers are VERY respectful of the original KK canon and I doubt they would change anything about Miyagi's legacy. Notice that Daniel doesnt say Miyagi would never "lie" to me. He says he wouldnt keep any secrets from him. I think the sai is just some clever marketing to throw us in the wrong direction and get us speculating. I dont think it has anything to do with the "secret" at all. But thats just my $0.02 ...
I agree plus from the short bit at the Valley Festival in season 2 of Cobra Kai we saw Daniel performing with a Bo staff( another weapon from Okinawan Karate) so clearly Mr. Miyagi trained Daniel to in the usage of Okinawan weaponry at some point. The study of weaponry in Okinawan Karate is referred to as Kobudo, for those of you who are not martial artists. I would guess that likely Mr. Miyagi had some dark secret that he never told anyone not even Daniel .
It will most likely be the use of weapons. He wanted Daniel to know his style of Karate in its purest form. I mean one translation of Karate is the way of the empty fist. Introducing weapons takes you somewhat out of the style. Most people once they start learning how to use a weapon tend to forget the rest of their body and only focus on using the weapon. This makes you vulnerable. Anyhow, just my two cents on the theory.
Hey, chief! Love the content. I really enjoy it when you do a crossover between your Karate Kid and Star Wars knowledge. Hope to see more of your videos!
It would no surprise to me if Miyagi used weapons and trained with them so they gotta have something better than that to reveal. Daniel knows he fought in the war and knew he did things worthy of the Medal of Honor so there’s more
Daniel has a temper and Miyagi knew that, so maybe he didn't teach him everything because of his temper. Many Okinawan Sensei's interviews their students before teaching them. So maybe that's it.
I think the big secret that Mr. Miyagi was keeping from Daniel is that he killed someone using karate possibly Sato's brother which caused him the leave Okinawa. If you remember in Karate Kid 1, Daniel asks Mr. Miyagi what the rules are. Mr. Miyagi replied "don't know first time you first time me." Daniel replied something to the effect of "that's great. You told me you fought a lot." Mr. Miyagi then replied "for life not for points." To me this implies that he had gotten into at least 1 fight that possibly resulted in death.
You ready to know what his dark secret is?????? Miyagi invented Cobra Kai. Miyagi was a double agent and actually worked for the U.S. Miltary. Under a different name he trained those that would go on to train Terry Silver and John Kreese in the Vietnam war who would be the “originators” of Cobra Kai. Once Miyagi fell in love with his past love in Japan, things didn’t work well and he bolted to the US. He used his GI bill to open up his Bonzai and auto repair shop.
hassan Waleed Nothing to do with doing him dirty, i believe at some point Cobra Kai style was meant for good but along the way it was distorted, the teachings that is and used for bad and not goodz
Chozen takes Daniel to Miyagi's dojo and asks him "Do you know the rules of Miyagi-do karate?" Daniel -"yeah! Rule no 1. Karate for defense only. Rule no 2. First learn rule no 1". Chozen then proceeds to remove the first board. As the board comes off we see Daniel shocked as he attempts to comprehend what he is seeing. Behind the board that was removed is not an empty wall. It is another board. On it is the a different rule. A rule that was once the backbone of Miyagi-do karate. Written on the board in clear black Japanese is NO MERCY.
Love the video! But everyone is so quick to assume this is consecutive dialogue. Good editors use dialogue however they want to "tease" the audience in the best way possible. I'm loving all the theory videos....but I'll be quite shocked if "Are you sure about that" is an immediate response to Daniel's line.
Personally, I think the second rule of Miyagi Karate wasn't literally "First learn rule #1", and had more to do with Karate being a deadly art. Similar to your theory, there is a darker side to the Miyagi-Do system, and only Chozen is left to explain it. Perhaps, if Daniel had taught his students hoe deadly and dangerous the art really is, Robbie wouldn't have paralyzed Miguel. We'll have to wait for season 3 to be sure.
I'm so glad they've included his character into cobra kai. He's the heart and sole of the franchise even tho he's passed on. I'm hoping they keep his character alive in the show.
rewatching The Next Karate Kid whenever Julie would talk about Miyagi would be a good parent, he always had a look on his face like maybe he did have a kid but wasn't there for them, much like Johnny and his boy
Theory 1: Chozen is illegitimate Miyagis son Theory 2: Chozens dad was killed by Miyagi (Chozen only refers to uncle who is like a father but not) Whatever it is, season 3 is gonna be Awesome!
Maybe at some point in the series they can do a few episodes of Mr. Miyagi’s back story. Learning karate from his father, the rift that happened with him and his best friend, immigrating from Okinawa with his wife, seeing his wife and neighbors being placed in an internment camp, fighting with the 442nd and earning the MOH, the pain of losing his wife and newborn, and how he had to find balance and peace once again.
Here are my top theories... 1. Miyagi-Do is a form of martial arts meant to train to kill. But it wasnt until Mr. Miyagi, that he changed the values of it to be taught on to Daniel. 2. Miyagi-Do & Cobra Kai actually originated together basically as Brother/Sister karate over the generations of Miyagi's ancestors teaching leading for one to remain within Okinawa & the other being shares upon the world. 3. Chosen actually is Miyagi's FIRST born. And was raised by Sato's family in secret
I believe that is very likely. Martin Kove (John Kreese) has already said in several interviews that the show will be delving into the origins of Cobra Kai and how Kreese adopted it during his time in Vietnam.
Chozen is not Miyagi's son. The math doesn't add up. It's more of Chozen being Miyagi's grandson. Remember that Miyagi left Okinawa before WW2. He got married in the States but he had to fight for the Allies and he had to leave his wife at the internment camp where she (and their unborn child) died. Keep insisting Chozen is his son would mean he's already in his late 30s to early 40s when he and Daniel first met. All of Daniel's opponents were well within his age group (Johnny, Chozen and Mike Barnes). Terry Silver and Kreese should be at least as old as Miyagi's biological child (had he/she lived in the case of Mrs. Miyagi). Also, genes. Miyagi would've recognized easily Chozen as his son, but not so much if Chozen's dad married a very tall Okinawan/Japanese/Chinese/Korean woman, ergo their height differences.
No.... Chozen was clearly older and portrayed as Satos son. They were same age. So it could be his son. He could have left his girl pregnant and he never knew. Thats why Sato really hated Miyagi so much.

I believe miyagi-do will be shown as originally being an evil form of karate, similar to cobra Kai, allowing Daniel to realize Johnny was in the right starting cobra Kai back up. This is important because of the classic miyagi line “there’s no such thing as a bad student just a bad teacher” showing Daniel that cobra Kai isn’t inherently bad, rather kreese made it evil, noticing that Johnny made it a good thing similar to miyagi with Okinawa karate. This wraps up with Johnny being this series, I’ll have it very flawed, miyagi of sorts.
COBRA KAI THEORYCOBRA KAI THEORY When Daniel said Mr. Miyagi treated him like a son and he would never keep secrets and Chozen said are you sure, those were all separate lines. When Daniel said “Miyagi treated me like a son” it had a different tone, volume, and breath from when Daniel said, “He wouldn’t keep any secrets” and Chozen saying “are you sure” could have came from anywhere in S3. The makers of the trailer merged those lines just to make the clip more intriguing and epic, and they have done that before in the other Cobra Kai trailers.
Miyagi was a cold OG player, 40 years later he still knew about ice breaking bar hustles and the odds, which I'm sure we'll see some homage to that in season 3.
I say Chozen is Miyagi’s son. He survived birth, but Miyagi’s wife died. Sato angry at loosing Yuki both at love and now death, he hid Chozen and let the word out that both had died.
I hope they meet because she's was Miyagi's student but Julie learned what Daniel learned plus learning how to blindfolded and control objects with energy like the bowling ball and the arrow.
Johny better be someone important other then just Daniels shadow. It’s not called karate kid continues, it’s called cobra Kai. I hope Daniel is the defense and Johny complete offense.
When Daniel is done training he will be like Miyagi, meaning everybody is gangsta till Daniel shows up Daniel will train Johnny. Daniel's daughter will be a substitute sensei until her dad returns. No one dies, this is a family show. Johnny vs Kreese, then Kreese will be Johnny student in Miyagi Do so he can help Kreese find balance to help with PTSD thus saving Kreese. Daniel wont fight anyone. Silvers will be on Kreese side however as time goes on he starts to realize Kreese's PTSD is getting worse and decides to let go of this "war" against Miyagi Do. Silvers will realize that they are fighting children, High school Kids but Kreese will push that the "War" is never over. Daniel will fight Silvers but not through Karate but through their respected businesses. Silvers will see himself in Johnny because Silvers was Kreese's first student. Kreese and Silvers flashback. Miguel vs Robby. Miguel will be healed, Bruce Lee style, coming back stronger from his surgery by Allie. Robby will get corrupted by Silvers because Johnny is "failing" his son and will focus on Miguel. Robby will realize he was being played. Johnny will marry Miguel's mom. Miguel and Robby will be brothers. The son will save the father then the father will save the son. In the end Miyagi Kai will be formed because Silvers still owns the right to "Cobra Kai" unless after KK3 he doesn't. Rule #1 Strike First, Strike Fast, For defense only. Rule #2 First learn rule #1. Daniel will be Miyagi tier skill level. This story is mainly about Johnny's redemption.
Daniel has already gone down a darker side, in his Karate Kid 3 days. Johnny wants to hook back up with Ali. That’s basically what William Zabkah said he would like to see Johnny’s character get to do.
I guarantee Ali is the one that saves Miguel and Johnny will have a little love triangle of his own between Ali and Miguel’s mom, only for the end of season 3 Ali leaves to return to her life and Johnny is back with Miguel’s mom as Miguel is back to health and ready for vengeance for a season 4
Cobra Kai came to Netflix in Argentina a few weeks ago. I watched both seasons in one go. WONDERFUL! THE BEST OF NETFLIX IN YEARS! One of the greatest successes, excellent the script, excellent performances, I hope it continues like this for many more seasons.
Ok it’s a long shot but hear me out what if mr miyagi and kreese fought in the same war different sides and that’s why he sent hawk to get the metal from miyagi do karate
I think it may not just be weapons, it took Jonny Lawrence years to reach black belt level of experience and karate, but for Daniel it just took him months to reach black belt level of fighting🥋⛩️🇯🇵, And in cobra Kai Johnny thinks Daniel has had years of training too, I think that Mr miyagi did something that made Daniel better enough at karate to defeat all the cobra Kai black belts at the all valley tournament, So which concludes that miyagi did keep secrets from Daniel, and miyagi did Teach Daniel karate, but he didn't teach Daniel everything about his style of karate, and that's why Daniel in my opinion went to Okinawa, to learn more and continue where miyagi left off and maybe even learn the magic that healed Daniel and made his karate better.... And maybe he can use it to make Daniel's students better at karate too... To even surprise krease
I don't like the whole Miyagi kid theory I've seen a lot of people go a step further and suggest that Kumiko or Chozen is the kid but the math doesn't add up. I think its something to do with the "dark side" of karate if you will like you said. I'm thinking maybe Cobra Kai somehow grew out of that and perhaps that could be a way for Daniel and Johnny to bury the hatchet and become allies. I've always wondered about the real second rule of Miyagi Do, when I was a kid I took Miyagi at his word but now not so sure. What if the second rule is something like "when fighting is necessary, Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy!"
I agree with the theory, having a mysterious child doesn’t really have that pop. What does have a pop is taking a character who to Daniel and most of the audience has become a zen-like saint is to be outed as a flawed human. That had been the whole message of Cobra Kai unlike The Karate Kid all of the characters are more complex than just one dimensional avatars of good and evil. Heck even Kreese is shown to have more dimensions, so while he is still a rotten bastard it’s a more human character. So to show that Mr Miyagi had a darker side and a mistake which he spent the rest of his life trying to make up for would not only be earth shattering to Daniel but also would make him a more rounded character to the audience and stick with the shows message of no one is perfect and characters can be redeemed from past mistakes.
Secret Child of Mr Miyagi probably saw the vid of Daniel offering to teach karate and decided to lure him to Okinawa. Maybe that child grew up to become a grandmaster in it and decided to lay claim to it once and for all.
Rob Yourface my opinion is Kumiko is Miyagi and Yukie’s daughter. I believe the true cause of the feud with Sato was that Yukie got pregnant from Miyagi. I always found it too fishy that Kumiko was her “niece.” Plus Miyagi even said to Daniel “Daniel San, never keep lady waiting.” I think that was also a clue.
Last year, after watching season 2, my friend and I were theorizing ideas about what could happen in season 3 and we thought it would be cool if Miyagi had another son (if I remember right he had a son who died at birth) who he had taught, and for whatever reason he left with his mother, who then revealed himself in season 3 as the true heir of Miyagi-Do. He could be the antagonist of the season, and maybe he learned some secret techniques that Miyagi never taught to Daniel as they were too dangerous or something. Maybe he could travel to the U.S from Okinawa and bring his best student who he intends to fight Daniels best student in order to shut down Daniels dojo, which he views as desecrating his fathers memory.
Miyagi said in in the second or first one, "Japanese army said come join and Miyagi said No". Or something like that. I think a young Miyagi accidentally killed someone and fled to the states.
Great stuff here! I actually just dropped a video earlier in the week where I hash out my theory. I've been trying to piece together how Daniel going to Okinawa relates at all to the main narrative of Cobra Kai, and I think he's going to make a pilgrimage there and discover that Miyagi and Sato's history is parallel to Johnny and Daniel, with Miyagi having more Johnny traits. The scene early in season 1 where Johnny saves Miguel is a shining example of how they may have been planning filling in this backstory in this way all along. Can't wait for S3!
This show isn't like Star Trek Picard.... There's no way they will disrespect Miyagi. Whatever they do with him will make perfect sense and serve the plot as well as enrich who he is.
Mr Miyagi also didn't teach Daniel the healing hand thing he was able to do, It was funny that Daniel referenced that in CK S1, but it would be really dope if he actually learned it
Dan World I think Kumiko is Miyagi’s daughter and the true cause of the feud with Sato is that Miyagi got Yukie pregnant. IMO the clue was when Miyagi said “Daniel San. Never keep lady waiting.” I always found it too fishy that Kumiko was yukie’s “niece.”
Mr Myagi's father left Okinawa aswell for years, discrased and embarrassed by his son, . During those years he trained soldiers a different type of karate, not the Myagi family Karate. He went under an assumed name, and ended up training Kreese and Silver. Myagi father is the actual creator of Cobra Kai.
@Seth and Match that's what we assumed because it was a death match. However Yukio despite being promised to Sato never married him anyways. That was always strange to me, so there's a bit more to the story. I'm thinking maybe Miyagi and Sato did indeed fight but Miyagi spared him and humiliated Sato.
@Seth and Match maybe but also if that mindset Miyagi sparing him was and insult and leaving basically was a forfeit so in his mind their fight was incomplete. Again that's a possibility Sato and Miyagi's father worked something out and as for Yukio and Sato they might expand upon that this season.
@Seth and Match slight difference between Okinawan culture and Japanese. However I just finished watching the second movie again and you are correct they didn't fight "I have waited for this long time!". So I'm leaning towards the orginal theory again made Miyagi and Sato where like the Cobra Ksis at first
That could very well be a possibility. Because in KK2 Chosen is Sato's nephew. But Miyagi and Sato were like "brothers". But because Miyagi fled to the states Sato had Chozen to raise as a student.
I think Mr Miyagi was probably a hot-headed youth. He probably got into a fight with someone and was bested, when his opponent showed him mercy, Miyagi in his youthful rage retaliated and hurt his opponent, badly. Plagued with guilt Miyagi turned to the drink, which is why he declared his love for Yuki, which in turn led to him leaving Okinawa for America. It was after all he had gone through, the loss of his wife and child, and what he had seen (and done) in WWII he truly came to understand the teachings of Miyagi-Do that Karate is for defense only, and was content with being the last of his line so to speak, that's when he meets Daniel and sees in him a chance to atone for his past.
I think the ONLY way that Miyagi's dark side is a shocker is if he has a used his karate to badly injure or even kill someone in the past. I disagree with your assumption that Miyagi having a son wouldn't be pertinent, seeing as the series has a huge father/son dynamic. Not only with both the senseis but also with both their star pupils. If Daniel finds out that Miyagi lied to him about a son this might lead him to a darker side further blaring the lines between whos good and whos bad. Daniel already had shown a propensity to act irrationally. Remember this show is called Cobra Kai, its more so about Johnny's evolution into a better person and our misunderstanding of his flawed character. I believe in the new season we will see johnny evolve more and Daniel devolve more, and finding out that mister Miyagi had a son will be a great trigger for that to happen.
My theory, It seems that Daniel flys to Okinawa to find some clarity. And somehow ends up finding Chozen. Daniel possibly learns some new lessons and finds some sort of peace. It’s hard to say about Johnny, But I feel like once Miguel recovers. He and Johnny will Re-take Cobra Kai again. And Yes, I think Ali will make an appearance to some how help Miguel medically and Johnny emotionally.
That’s more the theory that I’m leaning towards. Also, I’m sure they want to have it, to where, Myagi went back to Okinawa without Daniel, which I’m sure he did. Daniel wasn’t always joined at the hip, with Myagi. He went on to make a personal life. I even think it’s possible that on a trip to Okinawa, is where Myagi finds out that Chozen is his son. Years after he took Daniel with him.
Maybe Chozen is the son of Miyagi and Yukie. He was raised by another family and that was the real reason why she never married. Miyagi did tell Daniel that no one was perfect impart two when Daniel asked why he didn’t just marry her and leave. Miyagi also told Daniel to never let passion override principle. He left because of the whole honor thing and not wanting to bring dishonor. That would also help Daniel to realize that Miyagi more or less has made the same mistake that Johnny did with his son and lead to him finally giving a different perspective
I know he always called Sato uncle in part 2, but that could have simply been because he was raised by Sato’s brother or sister. Maybe someone, even Miyagi himself revealed the truth to him before he died. As far as the brothers thing, I’ve always had a feeling there was more to that than meets the eye, but the films never really delved too far in to it.
That would make a better plot chozen finds out he is Miyagis son. And tells Daniel the truth. And just like it looks like Johnny turns a new leaf so will chozen
Didn't Miyagi fight for the US in the European theater during WW2 and may have risen to the rank of Sargeant? I distinctly recall a scene in KKI where Daniel walks in on Miyagi getting drunk in his Army uniform. The scene also showed an old picture of a pregnant Japanese woman and Miyagi muttering that she dies due to birth complications. It wasn't specified if the woman was indeed Miyagi's wife or just a close relative (his sister, perhaps)?
i really enjoy your channel. I liked when you also did star wars theory. I think that if you were the director for the star wars films, it would have turned out much better for Eps 7-9. Disney failed us. All the best for success, you deserve it..
Hurwitz confirmed that KK4 is a part of the universe. They also did reach out to Hillary Swank so they do have plans to incorporate that at some point. I’m thinking that each season is going in order of the films so we probably won’t see Pierce or Alpha Elite until maybe Season 5 or 6.
