It’s dark for a reason! I’m employing the “dark start method” for cycling my aquarium. A new concept for me and supposedly one with huge benefits: no algae and no water changes to name two. Nice video, just a question. Should i use the same water that i had in my aquarium after the 90% water change? (store it, plant the aquarium and fill it back with the same water) ? Or just throw it away and use the new water (tap water)? Thank you!

Hi you've probably found the answer by now but for anybody else reading it doesn't really matter as beneficial bacteria is not found in the water Cononley

I put prime (water conditioner by seachem) to bind chlorine and Chloramine and stability (beneficial bacteria by seachem) and set my heater to 73• starting week 2 of dark start just tested and almost there. This method is best for sure just have to have a little patience but well worth it.
