A good indoor guard dog is one of the first lines of home protection, both for detection and alert, fearlessness in the face of threats, and the fear a bark or growl puts into the heart of an invader. They won't know if you've got one, or a couple of dogs, and that extra time the canine buys you are precious seconds to get armed and positioned.

@RU-vid Legend Domestic dogs have evolved over thousands of years BECAUSE of their role of protecting and serving humans and their livestock. In return, dogs benefit from being fed and sheltered. If it were not for this, we would have no domestic dogs. If you think it's "unfair", maybe you should learn about anthropolpgy, evolution and symbiotic relationships. Humans can love their dogs, provide great care for them, and expect them to carry their own weight as protectors/alerters. As part of a "family" everyone can have a unique part, including canines. Some people even have alert birds or donkeys.

I believe the ideal defense pistol, regardless of role, is the one you’re most familiar with. It baffles my mind why people have a different pistol for different roles, especially if they’re different manual of arms. Very few people are truly capable of becoming masters of multiple platforms, and when the moment of crisis comes you will not just rise to the occasion. You will always default to the last level of training you mastered.
@fakecubed
@fakecubed 2 года назад
Yeah, it's why I only use ARs and only use Glocks. I have different calibers, different sizes, but the manual of arms is the exact same, the grip is the same, they're set up the same way, and I train with them the same. I'm not even a fanboy of either platform, I just recognize the availability of parts, calibers, etc., and can have essentially the same two platforms for multiple roles. There's other guns I like, and own, but they're just range toys or collectors items and I don't shoot them very much and never would trust my life to them.

I'd love a video on how to stage your how for home defense while keeping things easy to access, but also safe for kids. I'd love to hear more about Kaydi's gun in every room, I know she has kids too.
@fakecubed
@fakecubed 2 года назад
Just teach your kids gun safety. When they're old enough to recognize what a gun is, teach them not to touch, and to tell you when they see a gun and point it out to you. Take the mystery out of it. When they want to look at a gun, they can ask you for permission and you'll let them see one in a safe and supervised manner. Teach them how to properly handle guns safely, the four rules, but also they must get your permission before they can handle a gun. Then you teach them how to shoot, probably when they're about 6 years old, and again, only with your supervision. Make it fun, but teach them respect for the weapon and for human life. If they mess up a gun safety rule, even the slightest infraction, they don't get to shoot again for a long, long time. Kids want to grow up, be trusted with responsibility, and please their parents. Just be clear with them what they need to do to be responsible and make you happy. The younger you start, the more safe they'll be around guns for the rest of their life.
@ReubenOaks84
@ReubenOaks84 2 года назад
If you teach your kids about firearms, safety and take them to the range to see what they are capable of, to me is far better than trying to hide them from a child. Children are curious of everything and will get into things they shouldn't so giving them understanding is better than trying to shield them from things. That doesn't mean you should neglect safety of course, true common sense goes a long way.

The night sights are neutralized by the Streamlight; basically, with the tac light on, you don't get to see the bright dots of the night sights. In fact, you don't need expensive night sights at all, if you have a tactical gun light attached under the handgun barrel.

For my 11.5” pistol I rock EOtech 512 in an adm 1/3 mount, DD fixed Irons, streamlight protac, and something I don’t hear many people say I have magpul coupled 30 round mags. I figure with a pistol while I’m in boxers from sleeping I won’t have a place for a backup mag for malfunctions. However on my 556 I can have a spare mag right there for malfunctions just incase, doubt I’ll really need 58 rounds (I download my mags to make it easier to insert) so it isn’t for reloads.

I believe every self defense gun should have a weapon mount light whether it's home defense or concealed carry gun. A threat may pop up in the middle of the day or after your dinner and movie date night with a loved one. Night sights aren't what they're made out to be. Yes, you can line up your sights but if it's pitch black you won't be able to get a positive ID without a light. With a good weapon light, you can see your irons even if they're basic non night sights.

I’m a better shot with my 40cal. Glock 22 with trijcon night sights with one hand anyway the other holding my flashlight . I practice that way. I think it’s really a matter of like others have said; what you’re comfortable with. However, If you want to kinda take a logical approach to “best,” I agree with the statement that more ammo = better, you also want to make sure you have a pic rail and I think one of the most important aspects, going opposite from concealed carry, a heavier gun is better. I keep an IWI Jericho 941F for home defense, one of the newer ones. 17+1, great trigger (under 4lbs) and because of the slide that sits low in the frame plus the fact that it weighs like twice as much as my 92x, the thing shoots like a .22. Couple that with a 5” barrel and HST +P ammo and she’s one hot momma 😎 It’s a really fun range toy too, pretty much a CZ75, but cheaper to buy and in my opinion, looks a lot cooler.

For now I'd feel better having a manual safety, I think it'll be good to learn that battery of arms. Then when I feel more comfortable and take some proper classes, guns without a safety I'll feel more comfortable with. That said I'm not against not having one either, as I know some have trigger safeties. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment and alone. If someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night you grab your pistol; turn its light on, identify the threat, and point and shoot until the threat is no longer a threat. Engagement distances inside a house are probably 20 ft or less. If the homeowner has time to line up their sights, great, but you have to assume the bad guy entered your house at the ready, and you might not have time to go through all the steps you take while at the range.

The best pistol for home defense is the one that is handiest. Stage guns throughout the home in safes (I recommend the SV500 Speed Vault) of varying calibers. I can fight from any room in my home. 1911 .45 in the living room, .380 in the kitchen, 40 S&W in the office and my Ruger American 9mm with 17 rounds and a 12 round reload next to my bed along with my 9mm EDC on my dresser. Plan ahead. Do your best not to be a tactitard. Fancy is not always better. Yeah, boomer lady here. Just don't count on being able to get to one weapon or multiple weapons in one place. A light is good for the gun next to the bed. But a red-dot may get you killed from the distraction in the moment in the dark. KISS. The red glowey thing may not work for you if you are just waking up and can't decide in the moment which eye to use. Learn your iron sites. Besides, odds are with a light on it and in such close proximity you won't really want to spend time aiming that critically. Point and shoot. You can have sleep in your eyes and still take out that shadow approaching you. And lasers in that situation are far inferior to a bright light. They have no ability to blind the threat thus giving you time to get first shot on target. Glocks, the Volvo of pistols. And the Ruger PC Charger is a winner for home defense. The mongoose of 9mm carbines in my opinion. I live is a relatively small house so a full sized AR-15 is too much. I leave my AR-15, AR-10 and AK-47 in my large safe for other types of confrontations. No one should be even a little fan of FMJ for any kind of defense except for the SHTF defense. Always use hollow points. Thanks guys. I enjoyed watching the video. I always crack up at the posts that say I only have my pistol to get to my AR. 99% of the time you’ll either have eliminated the threat or the threat eliminated you before the need for the AR. And if you need an ar for in house issues, you must have some long corridors and a huge house. Seconds matter and you running to find another weapon is not the smartest thing to do when you should have a perfectly good loaded pistol already in hand.

When Clint put that silencer on that 45, the first thing that entered my mind was " You got sling points on that thing, you gonna need a sling on that monster." I always believe that you need a light and laser for home defense. You can put the dot on the target faster than looking for your front sight or red dot. You can take your shot quicker once you have identified target is a threat and fire. Every tool has its use in different situations. I even put lasers on my ARs. If you need it and not have it its a problem. If you have it and not need it its a good day or night.

My ideal home defense handgun is the Beretta 92s I picked up a few years ago when they were offered. I pair it with an old-fashioned handheld flashlight. 115 grain hp. It's not flashy, but it works. .

Use the suppressor...take it off before the po show up. You probably have 20mins to a half a day before they show up.

For my handgun home defense I use the same gun that I carry which is my P365. But I also would and have used my G19/4 for a home defense handgun.

I live in a castle surrounded by open land,the perimeter is patrolled by attack dogs and I keep a bazooka under my bed and keep a flamethrower at my port cullis. Now the post office says they won’t deliver my mail no more.

I have been very pleasantly surprised with Canik quality. I actually have one with a light as my bedside handgun. I also have other options.... but that one is the most easily available at night.

"The best is whatever you're comfortable with and have most success with!" When you're a gun person you do this with so many firearms that it becomes difficult to just pick one. Cut the cliche or don't click on the video lol

9mm/45acp HP/defense rounds only, you dont want to shoot any loved ones through walls - extended magazine from a reputable company - reliable flashlight either handheld or mounted - red dots are preference but not necessary for sure stay safe ladies and gentlemen

I was at the range the other day and the guy next to me was looking for tools to adjust his red dot (He was an older gentleman with a brand new Sig 9 with a red dot p365 or whatever), sorry i don't know all the designations for this one. I looked for some tools but didn't have any, he says he's good, and is using the file off nail clippers to adjust his red dot. I was waiting for background check on a new pistol i wanted, and was using my XD40 Sub. that i have been struggling with(Snappy}.He let me look through his red dot and i was amaised When i looked through the reticle, I found the dot instantly. First time looking through a red dot. but my new Canik Rival feels like cheating it's so good, I feel like I don't need a dot or anything for it. lights or whatever
