Off topic here but just had to share. Today I noticed that a strange little growth/nodule that has been on the back side of my knee (and made me worry for years that it could be cancerous) just disappeared! I’m sure it’s thanks to your healthy keto and Intermittent Fasting advice!! It’s just gone. It was in a place where I could never get a good look at it but I’ve been worried for years! Now it’s just plain gone without a trace. Keto and IF forever!! Dr Berg should get a Nobel Peace Prize!

Such a complex mechanism explained in such simple terms....too good doctor.....as usual
@mysty0
@mysty0 3 года назад
Well not really, he's merely explained its position in the order of things and the role it plays, there is so much more to it. It would comparable to explaining a Starter Motor for an Engine by explaining its position in the order of Mechanisms like Ignition, Battery, Starter, Flywheel etc that go into your car, while never actually explaining the Starter Motor and how it works. It kind of skirts around its other processes, under this model one would see the Pituatary as a lazy manager whipping the companies employees while not lifting a finger himself when in actual fact the Pituatary is a functional part of the team thats gets down and dirty doing the hard lifting with the team. It is a great piece though, but doesnt cover much other than its position in the order of things

Hello Dr. Berg. Thanks for covering this topic. My younger brother had most of his pituitary gland removed due to tumor on his optic nerve back in 2010. His condition was called craniopharyngioma. He had two open skull surgeries and eventually had to be treated via proton therapy. He has fully recovered now but at the expense of his pituitary gland. He now has to take steroids like hydrocortisone and minrin for hormones. It would be great if you can shed some light on his condition and how we can improve his situation.

I had a pituitary tumor 39 years ago. It was really miserable. I went through severe dehydration from the loss of the anti diuretic hormone. I was so dehydrated my face skin shriveled though I was getting the vasopressin shots. I had some additional, unusual circumstances that happened as well. Before diagnosis and surgery I suffered daily severe migraines for months.

For the diuretic hormone she’s on desmopression in the pill form but before then I had to administer shots.

Thank you so much!!! I have a tumor on my pituitary, and Complex PTSD, along with non stop bleeding for the last 5 years unless I take birth control...high prolactin, then my adrenals were low, They're now resting for cushing's. I thought I had addison's disease bc I was always around 125 pounds & 5'6,. But within only a couple of months I gained 40 pounds...& I eat healthy....I've ALWAYS been thin. I'm always thirsty & now pre diabetic..& my thyroid, going from showing hypothyroidism to semi normal it showed all of my hormones were abnormal, either too high or too low. I feel like I'm.dying. My mom had a brain tumor on her pituitary before she died. They don't know if it's cancerous bc they didn't do a biopsy, but I am on cabergoline to keep the tumor from growing. Thank you so much!!!

@@jasonerikaswan623 I have been taking cabergoline for 2 years, my prolactin was around 190, and I didn't have any bad side effects, but it did help to bring down my prolactin & to keep the tumor from growing. It appears as if every hormone my pituitary can produce is either low or high...& Bc of the non stop bleeding that I gave to take 2 birth control pills per day or I will literally bleed so badly & be in do much pain, that I can't leave the bathroom bc the second I miss a dose or even take one birth control (ortho cyclen, it isn't enough & I still bleed. I'm 32 & all these terrible side effects started when I was 29. I haven't been sexually active in 5 years but thank God for birth control or else I'll lose iron and need a transfusion. It runs on my grandmother's side of the family, after she had 9 kids,& her mother had it too, along with pernicious anemia where she can't absorb b12 & I'm a vegetarian but never had a shot....I just wish they could figure it out bc I'm 33 & feel like I'm slowly dying. The stomach pain gets so terrible I have to try so hard to resist calling the hospital bc I know they need beds bc if corona. But if your prolactin us high, I would recommend taking the cabergoline to lower it...I was afraid of the side effects before taking it too, buti never felt different hours after taking it. These are strong pills. Do they know if it's a prolactinoma or a pituitary adenoma, bc with 8 different hormones, my ovaries are being affected w the bleeding, my adrenals are low, my sodium is low, now I'm.pre diabetic, when up until a few months ago I was always around 125. My thyroid showed hypothyroidism, which also runs in my family, but I needed 2 tests in a row, & the doctor even said my thyroid was swollen two years ago & that if either have borderline hypothyroidism or full blown hypothyroidism, & if I don't, I will have it within the next year. But they are now resting for cushing's disease/I'm doing a 24 hour cortisol test so see if I have cushings. Dr Berg, I have my chartwhere I see my results, & all of them are too high or low....I'm also always thirsty. I thought about ending it bc the pain, & along with having complex PTSD, scoliosis, asthma, I have the pituitary tumor, non stop bleeding unless I take 2 birth control every day, which was doctor said was okay bc I'm under 35 & don't smoke. The cabergoline really helped lower the prolactin, but now they see gaining 40 pounds in 2 months when I've always been thin....& They also have a hard time drawing my blood even tho I drink a lot of water 💦 ....but taking 6 baby asprins helped to thin out my blood, along with a butterfly needle. & Boy do I hate needles...So sorry for anyone going through this. But they will not do surgery to take the tumor on my pituitary out. I think stress & having Complex PTSD has messed up my HPA axis. My adrenals were a four when the normal lowest rate is 8....& my thyroid showed hypothyroidism multiple times, & my heart rate was between 180-200 bears per minute & now I'm a heart pill/metoprolol to try to keep my heart rate under 100...but still the lowest I can get it is between 140-150 bears per minute...& I start shaking like I'm going to have a seizure. I have terrible anxiety, I'm hoping if I keep taking the heart pill it will eve really get my heart rate lower than 140-150 beats per minute...& That's when I'm sitting down.. . But it's like the doctors want to watch me die..The only way to know if it's cancerous is with a biopsy, going up the nose, & altho they say my pituitary tumor is small, it seems to me causing my body to either over or under produce ALL 8 hormones. But they ignore that & now just want to test for cushing's. They said my low adrenals don't matter unless my cortisol was high. & I have these horrible stretch marks bc of how quick I grew. I know gaining 40 pounds, literally in 2 weeks when I was working out 5 hours per week on the elliptical, & eating well u der my calories, plus I always go back to 125 sometimes 119. I went from being underweight until I was 32 to now being pre diabetic, having thyroid problems,bleeding problems....I really think it would be worth the risk if they could remove the tumor, whether it's cancerous it not...even my growth hormone went from being high to low to high. I pray I don't have cushing's disease. I have scars deep stretch marks & I used to be in such good shape. I know it's tied to my hormones. But it's they they have tunnel vision & instead of texting all the hormones the pituitary releases, they focus on cushing's. ...but when I was 119-125 pounds & I brought up cushing's or addison's they ignored me. Now 2 years later they want to test for cushing's. They don't live with my symptoms. & I did thousands of hours if research. I'm desperate.

@mysty0
@mysty0 3 года назад
Please ask your Doctor to run tests for Prolactin, you may have a Prolactinoma in which case excessive amounts of Prolactin will bind with Testosterone rendering it defunct. If this is the case they will Prescribe you with Cabergoline (Dostinex, a Dopamine Agonist) because Dopamine is what usually takes care of mopping up excessive Prolactin. Cabergoline will bind to Dopamine Receptors to force them to produce Dopamine which will in turn bind to the Prolactine leaving the Testosterone free to do its job. If this is the case, and you have excess Prolactin, then I would advise avoiding TRT until you see the results of the Cabergoline. Your Gonads are probably working fine and trying hard to produce Testosterone thats being rendered inactive, taking TRT may potentially shut your Gonads down in which case you could be on TRT for life. Just make sure your Doctor has tested for Prolactin first and other possible causes of low T, jumping straight to TRT is not always the best choice if the problem is elsewhere

I was in a car wreck at the age of barely 2, I flew out the windshield and ended up half way on the other half of a 4 way freeway. My skull fractured into pieces, I had multiple brain and body surgeries. I am 28 years old now with many health issues and hormonal imbalance, I suffer from PCOS. I've been to doctors, gynos, endocrinologist and neurologist. Even though they've told me this is hereditary or genetic, my family doubts it and so do I. I have a gut feeling there is more damage to my brain then recent doctors care to search for, I don't think they actually understand how severe this car wreck was. We lived in North Carolina at the time of the accident so neither I or doctors here in Ohio have medical records or history on all my surgeries and damages. I was in the verge of dying so I don't understand why they don't bother to dig further and I live depressed for my ruined life and I want answers. This video has me thinking there is more searching that needs to be done on me.

Hey Doc, can you do (or have you already done?) a video on what to eat to restart feeding after a colonoscopy?... sure, you get cleaned out with the bowel prep medication, can you build on that for a day or three as a kick start for a longer fast? (dry or electrolytes like coconut water, plain water / diluted veg juice), and what soft food and fermented items to repopulate the gut would you recommend? The usual Krauts, or yoghurts, kefir or such? A vegetarian or vegan option would be great... is there a protocol or supplements (charcoal, bentonite clay etc) that might take advantage of the situation and be used to tighten the junctions, or draw toxins into the colon? Same here!!; They refuse to remove the pituitary tumor for me, as well, even tho every hormone the pituitary produces is either too high or low. I've literally begged them. But no, they're going to wait. Until they remove the tumor, I don't think I'll be healthy ever again.

@@jessicaelizabeth8603 I've just learned to live with mine, it dosent bother me much, had three healthy daughters etc. But my doc has said I will have mine for life, I'm one of a tiny percentage for which the Cabergoline does not totally get rid of the tumour, it merely reduces it. My biggest annoyance is my weight gain.

great video thanks Dr Berg. we are really keen to know more how a prolactinoma come about as there’s not much in the public domain that explain the cause for tumour apart from possible cell mutation as one possible reason. based on your video, if receptor not working well and hence high level prolactin being produced , but doesn’t suggest it can lead to a tumour ( prolactinoma ). it seems tumour which produce excessive prolactin just grow without any specific causes . very very keen to understand the possible causes for such prolactinoma which affected many people and without knowing the causes, it’s difficult to deal with it ( shrink or get rid of ) and not ideal to take medication long term or surgery. really hope Dr Berg can share some insights

Partially empty sella it is called on the MRI. Just looked it up. That could be causing my high blood pressure. And when I would bend over and stand back up clear water would run out my nose. I thought that was just leaky sinuses. I take allergy medicine daily and have less water drainage. The article I read said spinal fluid can leak out the nose. How can that happen?

My question couldn't be submitted in the Q&A, for some reason: Joined late. I would love to know in what quantities certain supplements give the best bang for the buck, understanding that every BODY is different (and that certain supplements would be ill-advised for other medications). For example how much zinc, vitamin K, etc. I take no medications, fortunately. Sorry if this has already been addressed. Love Dr. Berg and his information!!

@@Drberg Thank you, so much!! I watch your videos on a daily basis and recommend you to my friends, with or without health issues. Adding to my query, you have for some supplements described what time of day is best and what works best for absorption, but I'd like specifics on how much, zinc, K2, etc.

I was recently diagnosed with high prolactin. I had an MRI to rule out a tumor, but my endocrinologist wants to treat me like I have a tumor that may be too small to be seen. The side effects of the medicine he wants me to go on sound scary. Is there a way to naturally lower a prolactin level that’s over 200?

I recently started Cabergoline 8 weeks ago and no side effects except a slight increase to my Insomnia. Cabergoline will increase Dopamine and its like you're being rewarded for having done nothing, so you've engaged your reward center having done nothing for it. On the night I take meds I want to talk to my partner all night coz Im stoked about nothing lol. Interestingly the nights in between taking doses I am sleeping better as my Testosterone increases so its a trade off. If your Doctor prescribes you 1 tablet per week like mine did because he didnt know any better, you should mention its advised to take bi weekly because its filtered out in the liver and kidneys by the 4th day pretty much. I did one week taking the whole pill and first 4 days I felt on top of the world but day 5 and 6 I slumped hard because the Cabergoline had worn out so you can go through moddoy roller coaster of ups and downs if you are not taking it bi-weekly atleast. So thats another symptom that I suffered through Doctors ignorance of proper dosing the medication but was easily recitifed, infact Im about to ask if I can increase dosage to 1 tablet twice a week. I considered 3x a week but the Insomnia portion would be awful. Blessings, and hope this puts you at ease :)
