No, they always encourage young people to get into a relationship to fall into depression ! Dating/relationships is that one area of my life where I feel like I missed a class in high school and failed to catch up. I struggle to make it a priority in my life now. I also don’t understand how people have the energy for dating. My job has me dealing with people all day, last thing I want to do is sit in front of someone and tell them what my favorite color is. I’m not in the mode of dating, or even interested in being in a relationship though I’m not against it either. Dating apps are suspicious at best, and just intrusive at worst because it feeds on people’s insecurities, desires, and feelings. I’m honestly glad to be single, because it allows me to focus on my own goals, paths in life, and pursue my own passions/interests while striving to continually learn, be open minded, and seek knowledge.

100% agree with you. Spent three weeks on tinder at the encouragement of some friends and oh my god it was utterly harrowing. Hated every moment of it. I won’t be doing that again - when I’m ready, I’ll join a club or something like that. But I agree with you; I’m VERY happy being single.

I came here to say words pretty much to this effect. I'm not against being in a relationship if a potential partner happens to appear in my life, but I'm certainly not being active in looking for that someone. I've had bad experiences with dating apps and am at a point where I'm happy with my own life as it is. I have the free time to explore what I want to explore, I grow as I want and I'm discovering new passions that I couldn't get into when I was married. I've got kids so I don't have any body clock urges to worry about. Any potential partner has to tick a HUGE amount of boxes (proverbially speaking) before I'll even consider dating anyone. And before any numpty comes along and gives some flippant response about "oh don't you worry about dying alone" or some other remark relating to being alone - I don't feel lonely. I have days on end where the only contact I have with other humans is occasional messages with my kids. I don't feel any loss at not having a partner in my life. I feel complete already. I know the type of personality I have and understand what makes me tick. IF I end up with someone in my life it's because they are able to complement my life with their own personality, hobbies and interests. If someone comes along and disturbs my peace then they'll be sent packing.

Maybe what we all really need is not a dating partner, but a true friend. I was always unhappy with everyone who fell in love with me, until I met my husband. Now I finally have real ally - someone I can trust, rely on, who helps me become better, who supports my interests even if he don't understand. And he rightfully expects the same from me. Almost every guy before wanted me to be useful or just wanted someone to sleep with and didn't care about what I needed to live...

I have been single for my entire life and I have accepted that I’m not going to find a date. Where my brother and cousins found their parents and/or have been in a relationship they subconsciously rub it on my face. And anytime I see people with their own partners I feel anger,jealousy and sadness. I’m 26 and I’m the only one on the family that doesn’t have any experience in dating and feel pressure because I see my family and the ones they have and been asked”when will you bring someone” I just respond with “that’s an impossible situation for me and I have accepted it” And the only 2 times a female have shown interest in me is when there’s been no one else and/or is the literal last guy on the list. And I’m not taking the disrespect of being the last option of anyone. Even though I have accepted that it’s not going to happen it’s hurts.

I've been on nearly every dating portal known to man. A fucking waste of time and money. I've also been taking ballroom lessons at different schools, hoping I'd find someone special. No luck for years. I've been going to rock concerts and festivals, too, because people. I also work out regularly, have a strict skin and hair routine in order to stay as attractive as I could possibly be. I'm hitting 32 this year and I'm starting to think I'm cursed, or I must've done something terrible in a previous life. All my friends are either married or engaged by now, some even already have kids. Maybe it's time I admit to myself, that I'm one of those people who just aren't meant for love. And NO I'm NOT sorry for venting here.

Go rejected by every one of them. It made me question so much to the point where I feel hopeless. Best thing you can do friend... Learn to be happy & content on your solo-dolo (if you haven't already), that way you won't easily fall into the trap of depending on others for your happiness! & make sure to you have as close to equal measure the sort of qualities you'd like in a lifetime partner (if you haven't already)! Last thing is to take it very slow (easier said than done for certain people), if you can build a friendship first before jumping in the bed all the better! Best of luck 😉

That has always been the case, interestingly the issue now is that there is less of this going on because people have other things to do in their life than go on dates and "fall in love", so there is overall less dating and relationships going now because a lot of people are actually taking it seriously. In the past falling in love was the most fun a human could have and a lot of people "fell in love" for the sake of it and got stuck in awful marriages, living through their children and leading to generational trauma.

My first and only relationship gave me a lot of lessons, but in the end my partner never really cared about my feelings which made me question my own worth. Knowing the person first before you continue stepping to another level of relationship really is a must because it's not always fun and butterflies. As an ace-spec overweight autistic goth with geeky interests and an artsy streak; exactly this! I'm just so sick and tired of not even being treated as a person most of the time. Like, the only interest in me mainly comes from men who actively reduce whatever part of my identity to nothing more than a k*nk or a f*tish. Like, I still wouldn't exactly turn down the Gomez to my Morticia if I'd ever meet him, I just don't see it happening in THIS kind of dating climate. Parents and the USA Education system somehow didn't teach us how not to be entitled. I think lack of empathy, entitlement, narcissism, and conditional love are the four biggest problems in the dating world. To the point where you just don't focus on it anymore. I rather spend my time getting better as a human than to lower my values for a person who don't even know what it means to be a man or woman. I taught myself to be realistic.

I realized something, my father never took care of my mom which made her angry at him, she was always in a anxious state and sometimes even cry that she was working day and night, the only thing my father did was give her money enough to live, she didn't had a separate home for herself so she lived at our grandma, and even yelling at me, tho she apologized after, I never mind cause I knew it was not her fault, all the point of sharing this is this, that I don't date and want to be single after seeing my father, maybe cause I fear I'll get someone same as him.

Conventional intimate relationships with women are overrated, and definitely not the ideal scenario for REAL men; the ideal lifestyle for REAL men is to remain single throughout their lives, and instead devote as much time and money at their creative hobbies they are passionate about; when they get the itch, just hire a pros titute, this way you will get sex whilst still holding on to your freedom and you don't have to compromise. Whereas if you want a girlfriend/wife you have to work on yourself a lot, then you need to learn about dating, go through the process of making mistakes and entering into many bad relationships, as well as experiencing humiliating rejections, when you secure a girlfriend, you lose your freedom; lastly ALL human relationships are temporary, thus not worth killing yourself over.

As someone who has so much to offer & always pushes to put my best foot forward, its exhausting, not getting attention, being ghosted & just having everyone around you couple up, it’s rough, sad thing is my dad left at birth & my #1 goal in life besides others is to be the best father I can be, sad thing is I’m still young but , it just feels like at the moment it’s nearly impossible, dating truly has changed for the worst, I hope everyone finds their someone, take care ❤️

Nowadays everything seems to be about online dating but I want to have that special connection with someone in person. It’s cheesy and a long shot but I’m willing to wait for the right one, someone who can accept all of me and I can do the same for them. I’m gonna focus on myself until then. After dating many guys i would say that while i enjoyed their companny and the feeling of having someone you love, i'm better on my own and feel happier that way, not because i'm afraid or hated it but because thats just the way i am. It took me a lot of effort to realize that i'm not like the others because thats not "normal" by social standards. If you feel happy by being on your own, go for it, don't let others tell you how to feel or what to do.

I actually am much happier since I am no longer putting any effort into this. Not only my social interactions vastly improved but my professional skills improved too since I had lots of time to myself. I am also much more healthy and fit. I don't really see the benefit of dating at this point. Even if some women tried to I wasn't really interested. Maybe later I guess if I don't get too used to not be bothered 😂.

Friendships & maintaining friendships in the modern world is ALSO DIFFICULT. Friendships are the "Foundations" to Romance, Intimacy, & Sexual Relationships. Like a house, the foundation needs to be strong. If the Foundation is weak, then the house will likely be unstable & easy to collapse. Same goes with Friendships. If your friendships with people are not that strong, don't even ask about leveling up to things like Romance, Intimacy, & Sexual Relationships. Therefore, if maintaining friendships in the modern world is also difficult, then it likely affects dating as well.

Interesting how this video just came up while I'm dealing with dating issues lately. I'm dealing with a unrequited love that I recently decided to burn bridges with her in order to move on and to stop thinking about her and a hopeless future. And I'm still haven't found a good match with someone more worthy than the last crush. Though, even if I'm still struggling I'm still hoping and stay strong to believe that I could still find someone who deserve my love and the same for her. Stay strong and don't lose hope, even if you have dealt and endure the worst pain possible of loving someone. Try to love yourself for what you are.

For some of us, no matter how much optimistic verbiage, or affirmations are thrown, it's just not possible. The only real positive is that we learned to cope, and rise above feel worthless. Most of the time. Those twinges of sadness crop up, but learning to adapt became incredibly useful. Otherwise, you'll fall apart.

26 and no gf... yet. For me, dating wouldn't be so hard - it's FINDING someone to date. I don't have much of a social life outside of work due to living in a rural California ghost town (practically) called Hinkley, and when I DO see a girl I find pretty and I think I might be interested in, it's in an awkward situation to navigate and I try but subtly (such as a customer at work. Can't ask for a number or anything so I just check on them quite often and direct my attention towards them if they're in a group), or is at another place I'm at but is a total stranger so I don't do nothing but steal a few glances their way. How TF do I navigate THAT without potentially coming across as a creep?

I want to start putting myself out there, but the other day, I had a depressing epiphany. To make a novel short, I realized after listening to WAY too many Reddit stories from and about toxic partners, that the dating-sphere has gotten so scuffed, that you can only have someone who treats you with basic human dignity and respect _OR_ someone who can satisfy you in bed. And nothing in between. Now I'm fully aware of this being a cognitive distortion. I just can't think of anything to counteract it. All the examples of people who can do both that I can think of are all fictional characters. They're not real and they'll never _BE_ real. This idea of someone having good looks AND a good heart is all just a dumb illusion. As rare as a Blue Eyes White Dragon. Can you believe how sad that sounds? That having a partner or anyone in your life for that matter who isn't toxic or otherwise unsupportive is a damn luxury now. 🤦‍♀️ Again, I know this most likely isn't true and that there are plenty of good looking people in the real who are kind and supportive, but I just can't think of any right now. I feel myself inching dangerously close to incel territory with this mindset, so please prove me wrong. 🙏😖

The answer to that question is that there is no definitive answer because people have different interpretations of what "dating" means. It keeps changing with the passage of time. What might have been considered acceptable forty or fifty years ago probably would not work in the 2020s because humans are such a complex and contradictory species.

I don’t know if anyone’s going to read this but I’m 29 and I work with a bunch of young Christian interns in their early 20s fresh out of college and the other day one of them told me that he’s planning on getting married to his girlfriend of 7 months (one of the other Christian interns) Me being 29 and single I was shook. I was like bro, you only KNEW her for 6 months and haven’t lived with her or anything. You haven’t tested any other waters or anything. He essentially replied with neither one of us have experience. That hit me. Like I had an epiphany. Here I am, someone who has had a huge body count, become a victim to pornography resulting in objectifying women and desensitizing emotionally towards others and a weakened riddled pair-bonding ability. I’ve been so indoctrinated with materialism and wealth I focus on fleshy things so often. Meanwhile these two 20 year olds. Aren’t consumed my consumerism, don’t have pair boding issues because they’re virgins, they don’t have mental issues, emotional trauma from their past anything. (Partly because of their parents) but mainly because of their abstaining from worldly things. They can maneuver through life so much more nimble and steadfast because they’re not at an emotional, mental or financial deficit. What I gathered about dating is that it’s meant to be short and aimed to be a more “pre-marriage” and it’s a much faster process because the red flags are so light

I was hopping this video would help me clear out my doubts about the subject, and not to be mr. critique or anything, but it didn’t, I just feel like you didn’t cover the subject deeply enough, and your approach was way too generalized, I think you should try to make a video that’s more daring about the subject, maybe make it longer and more focused on one thing, but most importantly I think you should try to answer other questions, ones that really open the grounds for a deep dive. Honestly, I’ve chosen to give up on dating because I see it as a significant commitment, and I struggle to maintain long-term relationships unless it’s mutually fulfilling. Personally, I find more enjoyment in driving vehicles than in dating. Cars are always there for you; you can drive them as much as you want with just a bit of fuel. On the other hand, relationships, especially for a car enthusiast like myself, can be financially draining. It often feels like I have to invest everything in my partner, leaving little for my passion for cars. To me cars are much more than just a mode of transportation, they hold significant history and each brand tells a story

I tell my kindergarten students this all the time... The point of dating isn't to find someone who you connect with and see if you're compatible enough to blossom into a real relationship that hopefully leads to marriage and maybe a family. The point of dating is to GET LAID. Lay enough pipe and you can officially start collecting payouts from tax dollars (Well I used to tell my students that.
