Also back in the 70s not many people had team gear. Every person in the crowd has some sort of jersey or shirt. It should have been only like 4 people actually wearing packers gear.
Yes, but didn't the beloved deceased Wisconsinite Chris Farley play one of the Chicago Superfans back in the day? We all know he bled cheese. That only makes it funnier in my mind. Ditka... sausage... daaa Bearsss.
Granted I've seen spots at stadiums that sell gear for multiple teams (including the home team's rival), the chance of that happening in the 1970s is somewhat mind-boggling
+Tim Schaab you shouldnt have to "admit" a bear player is good. shows you watch bears with blinders on. Payton was great... just like Starr, Favre and Rodgers. and im a bears fan
Eric is a good son. He really endures a barrage of insults from red to still give him the best gift he could ask for, completely unprompted from any obligatory party celebration and just cuz he wanted to give his father a great gift
I think from his reactions that Eric doesn’t really take any of his dads insults seriously at all. Red may talk like a hardass all the time, but it’s clear from his treatment of Kitty that he really is a very affectionate and loving man.
@@shadow-man8715 it’s the oldest rivalry in football. They’re 2 of the only 3 original franchises remaining (Cardinals are the other) and have been in the same division since the league was founded. The Packers and Bears are #1 and #2 in both total wins (804 for the Packers and 794 for the Bears) and NFL championships (13 for the Packers and 9 for the Bears)
I'm a Saints fan, take one road trip a year, went to Lambeau last year--by far the coolest/nicest fans my group has encountered...but as soon as they flashed anything Bears related up on the big screen, the hostility meter went from zero to a thousand in less than a second
I love how Donna knows Eric so much and the way she helps him understand everything. Not only this. Their relationship is pure complicity and trust. I don't understand how they can hate this couple.
Imagine two incredibly toxic narcissists who can't agree on anything and can't seem to get it through their head that their love for each other should matter more than their ego, on top of the fact that they both constantly do crappy things to each other. That's Eric and Donnas relationship in a nutshell.
@@eldenlion5850 similar deal with Ross and Rachel from friends. It is done to create drama because it is hard to write a good couple and have it be entertaining
The line “I can’t go in there, I got all that stuff!” really makes me wonder what kind of weapon Kelso would just happen to have on him on a casual Sunday afternoon
Steven...it's just an opinion. Perhaps I should have been more clear. Heck if you ask my dad who the greatest was, he'll tell you it was Jim Brown. But I wouldn't call it a "stretch" to call Payton the best RB ever.
Awesome to see this on my recommended lol. Got to go to lambeau with my dad back in 2017. Best experience. Lost him this past august so its been tough every game. Go packers baby ! Rip pops
When Eric wouldn’t take off the jersey later in that episode to prove a point. I legit got super pissed of how stubborn he was for ruining a perfect moment with his dad.
@@aw98000 It is when you're told not to by your peers, and you still do it any way because you refuse to give up your freedom of choice. They were all basically telling him "conform and be accepted" and Eric actually had the balls to say "Why should I?" His peer group tried to peer pressure him and he rebuked it.
Light Yagami dude people are like that with everything, console gamers and pc gamers argue and then console players argue with each other and people will argue about politics and people argue about movies. Humans in general are the problem not sports.
As a Packers fan with many jerseys in my closet, yeah, they are pretty ugly. However, the Packers are a non-profit origination that cares a lot more about tradition and homage to our roots then shifting fashion sence.
I believe after seeing this part. I kind of really wonder how the Formans and the rest of the characters from that 70’s show are going to react to the packers winning the super bowl 1996 in that 90’s show.
That's pretty much the only time Red cries in the whole series. For Packers tickets. I love the writers of this show and I am a Packers fan so this episode always gets me. Go Pack Go!!
The funny thing is, in other episodes and throughout the series, Eric knows damn well who the Packers are and that they're his dad's favorite team. This is atypical of him and a departure from the premise of the series. He was lousy at sports, but he knew about them
I watched this whole show an awful lot several times thru, maybe too much. But I loved it, I loved watching the supporting characters react when a burn happens or something hilarious happens. The actors and writing was legendary.
No Ditka? Bah! A small miracle of hi Donaldf Trump's self worth, and, integrity for the office he holds.. Aside from that,What no',Secret agent man obstable lunch'? A much much needed ' Hail Mary' pass, in truth, a strategic battle that Mr.President Trump faces; he fired all the his quarterbacks and, now the lformer truly needs.. Ah,well, paid war.who can say? I still say Cutler can't pass the ball! The goalie, that is where it's at!!!
Great show!!! Fond memories of this show along with King of the Hill & Cops & Simpsons. That along with football is why I always had Fox 5 on back in the day when we only had channels 1-13 😂
in 2012, my oldest Son bought me 2 tickets to watch the Packers play the Bears at Soldier Field. I had the very same reaction. My wife wore her Bears gear and I wore my Packers gear. It was awesome.
In 1977, Walter Payton was the Bears *ENTIRE OFFENSE* as he won the MVP and put the Bears in the playoffs The Packers were mired in 25 years of irrelevance. Their only playoff win in that period came in the 1982 strike-shortened season Bravo to Eric for wearing a jersey of greatness
I get Eric is nerdy, but this is hard to believe that he'd buy a Bears jersey at a Packers game, let alone the logistics of finding a Bears jersey AT LAMBEAU FIELD. He obviously knows Packers are "good guys" and given his dead is a die hard Packers fan Eric surely would know the very basics about Packers ie the team's colour and logo. You'd have to be mentally 3 years old and even then my 2 year old niece knows my favourite hockey team and can distinguish them from the other team.
Got sent out to Green Bay on business and packed every piece of Bears clothing I had. I walked Oneida every day wearing blue and orange just to get a laugh. The reactions were priceless.
This is gonna be me with my kid in the future lol. Me a Seahawks fan and imagine if he came down with a 49ers jersey!😭 I wouldn't even watch the game, I'd just go home and cry! Lol
@@RiddlerQM Well a little bit of both. Never really watched football until I saw an Eagles Giants game at the Linc before they won Super Bowl 52. I became an Eagles fan after Desean Jackson’s Punt Return
@@pottytheparrot310 oh ok. Yeah I became a Seahawks fan when I was a freshman in high school. That was when they went to back to back superbowls. The LOB!💪🏼 lol.
When I was in the Navy, I was at the base in Waukegan area.I rode the train down to downtown Chicago for that particular game in the early 2000’s. It was full of bears and packers fans. There were some scuffles and a lot of shit talking. The train ride was almost as entertaining as the game itself watching the two fans hate on each other.
I can't even count the number of Packers games I've been to in my life. The first thing I noticed was all the personal space they had in the bleachers in the 70s! What a dream! Nowadays, you could buy an extra seat and you still wouldn't be able to move around once everyone packs themselves in.
Even though it gets more love than Reno 911, I honestly feel like this show was just as underrated, despite it's apparently pretty large fan base. Even after some of the mains left in the later seasons, I'd still probably give it at least a 7 out of 10, which is a lot more than I can say for other shows in similar situations. I doubt the new series will match the magic of this one, but I'm still excited to give it a shot and see what happens!
I'm tired of remakes and spin offs ..they really don't need to do another show we all saw how bad the shoe became in later seasons..plus there's no Hyde and that's the character people really enjoyed but we all know what happened to that POS.
