EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also experienced nausea. I was the only one in my family that did and it didn’t come on until maybe my 2nd or 3rd day. Did anyone else have issues struggling with post-COVID brain fog? I’ve experienced post-partum brain fog but COVID fog was very different and a bit more severe. Thank you all for the kind words and support this last year. It has meant so much to me and I deeply, deeply appreciate it.

No, but about the eczema, you should be careful with the treatment. I haven't experienced it personally but I heard a story about somebody who had eczema too, and she had this treatment which in the beginning worked fine for her, but over time her body got used to it, so it took more and more of the ?stuff? she put on to calm the eczema, until it just didn't work at all. Then when she stopped using it, her body was so used to the treatment that her eczema became even worse. I don't know how often this happens to eczema patients but I thought I'd just warn you early. Good luck!

I just wanna talk about my personal experience with this for a second. So pretty early on my family was being cautious bc my sister has a whole slew of health problems and my family is very close with my mom’s mom and stepdad, meaning that I see them once or twice a day. They’re 73 and 81 so obviously we were worried about them. Because of this, both my sister and I chose to do online school and my mom chose to work from home to limit our circles. The only people I was seeing outside of my immediate family and my grandparents was my tennis team and coaches (altogether around 20 people) and my jiujitsu instructor. During this time I was extremely active and fit as I was 3rd singles on the varsity tennis team. I had practice five days a week and on the days I didn’t I would go running. This active-ness continued for the month after the season ended until the end of October. The last week of October my sister’s softball coach (her outside activity) didn’t wear his mask to practice. It turned out that he had covid and he spread it to my sister. We immediately locked down our house and kept my sister in her room in an effort to keep it from spreading to everyone else. We made her wear a mask at all times and we wore them when we went near her room. Unfortunately three days later, after my sister tested positive, I began to notice myself and my mother showing symptoms. I was coughing, had a light fever, was extremely tired, and achy. My mother was also tired and achy. Eventually we both tested positive as well, and my grandma followed. I would log onto class in my room, sleep, log on again, sleep, eat, sleep, log on, eat, sleep. It was exhausting just getting out of bed and showering. I was in a lot of pain and none of the typical painkillers were working. Around a week after my initial symptoms appeared I started going on short walks in an attempt to get my stamina back. However, the things I had experienced during that time didn’t stop. I didn’t draw or paint for around two straight months. I began failing my classes after being too tired to do homework bc I didn’t understand it anyway. Tennis, which previously had been the best part of my life, became a source of dread. My lungs and chest were already in constant pain but tennis made it so much worse. On top of that pain, I would be unable to breathe heavily and would get achy and tired very quickly. These things together made me very depressed for a period of time. Even though I was “recovered”, I felt just as bad if not worse. By this time my sister and mom were almost completely back to normal. Around a month ago, I started getting heart rates of 120 and 140 while doing things like going on walks. When I would play tennis my heart rate would climb to 160, 170, and even 190. Couple that with my trouble breathing and my chest pain and fatigue and I was legitimately worried I was going to die. That fear was only made worse when one day at school (I went back for second semester), I collapsed from what was apparently a miniature heart attack. I’m on steroids now, which help control my heart but cause my breathing problems and chest pain to be much worse. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that my life has been ruined from this disease. The worst part is that I did everything right. The people around me did everything right. All it took was one negligent person to turn my life around for the worst.

I’m so sorry you are experiencing this. This is why I am so mad at my school for keeping sports open. It is completely illogical to continue sports programs during a global pandemic. The disease gets transferred by getting breathed in most of the time, and during sports you are breathing heavily. It’s ridiculous that schools think the kids aren’t going to get covid from that. Idk I’m just glad I’m graduating this year so I don’t have to deal with high schools ever again. And you should sue that tennis coach for infecting your family.

My whole family had covid too and it was such a scary experience. Both my parents had to go to the hospital for 3 weeks and I was essentially left alone, also very very sick and had trouble breathing because I was coughing so much, to take care of my little brother and whilst doing that I had to also take care of our new puppy which was a very hard task to do.

One thing you didn't mention (and a lot of people don't know) is that covid can be spread literally via breathing. That's how it's spreading between asymptomatic people who aren't coughing. So it was all around the air in your home and you did your best, even if you'd chased your kids around disinfecting everything they touched, it would have been there. I'm glad you guys got through it and I hope it gets better soon.

Hearing you describe the covid fog and sudden fatigue makes me feel so relieved I was able to get vaccinated before I got sick because it sounds pretty similar to what already happens to me and I can’t imagine how terribly covid would’ve effected me. I’m wishing everyone struggling with or who struggled with these symptoms in the past the best day you can have. One thing I’ve learned from living with this is that if you try to fight brain fog and fatigue, they will win. You needed to let yourself sleep or stare at a phone all day if you need to, you aren’t being lazy. Bodies do so much on a daily basis already. Treating my energy like a currency helps me sometimes, I remember that if I do that thing I kind of want to do now, I might not be able to do the thing I really want/need to do later. You’d be surprised what little things sap your energy

I wish RU-vid wouldn't suppress this video just because of the subject matter. This is really important and shows how the virus looks different from person to person and how you can't really know whether or not you have it unless you get tested (rapid tests can be ineffective for early cases, ltos of false negatives). While you are so mature and grateful, it doesn't mean it wasn't scary and sad and difficult and I'm glad you and your family are out on the other side recovering.

My friend got COVID last March and had horrible breathing issues. At the time we had no idea what it was and thought that maybe she had just been smoking too much weed. It was so strange then bc no one knew what she had or what to do and all of us hung around her like it was nothing. It's surprising that thankfully none of us got sick. I still wonder who she got it from on campus.

My boyfriend actually got Covid. His dad's girlfriend first had it, then his dad and then him. They all basically quarantined for 2 weeks. We're in a long distance relationship and I was deathly afraid for him, but he tried to reassure me that the doctor said "we're just silent carriers. We don't have that bad of symptoms" but even then I was scared it could get worse, but thankfully after the 2 week quarantine, they all got better and they were able to go back to working. It was scary for me just watching my boyfriend be sick and not being able to comfort him or do anything for him.

I am so glad you are all better. It didn't have to be this way. Why folks can't just wear a mask is beyond me-playing Russian roulette with people's health and lives. My oldest son lives with autism and is at a boarding school. Some parent just had to party around Christmas. Their kid (who can't protect himself) brought it back to the group house. My kid, who has asthma, tested positive but was asymptomatic. You would have never known he was positive by looking at him. The staff did an amazing job and we are beyond grateful for them. I am so happy you all got better, but I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that after your post-baby challenges! Thank you for sharing your story; people really need to hear it.

I'm still fatigued, still have brain fog, still having bad asthma attacks. I lost an aunty to Covid, she lived in Sicily. This shit is real, I never doubted it. ALSO, how adorable is that art work? Emily, I'm so glad you and your family pulled through this. Please stay the course, keeping an eye on symptoms in the future. There's a long tail on some of them including the brain fog, exhaustion, loss of sensory input like taste or smell, or taste and smell. Unfortunately, I know folks who've died of this terrible pandemic disease, one of them so effing heroically it's just shattering. I'm so glad you all pulled through, and your mum too. Bless. Hugs to you all. May your watercolour paper never pill, and may you only have good granulations.

One friend of mine that had it has lost his sense of smell and taste. Its only just coming back now after 5months. Another friend barely had any symptoms at all. Then another friend is now on a CPAP and oxygen machine all day everyday and has scarring on her lungs. She had covid twice, and was put into a coma for 3months due to how severe hers was. It effects everyone so differently and that is definitely something to be worried about. I'm glad you guys are all OK. Much love. Thank you for being so real and honest.x

The beginning of your video where you talk about your kids getting asthma problems because of genetics from both you and your husband reminds me of when I was talking to my boyfriend about if we ever had kids. My bf and I both have somewhat skin sensitivity. His is more severe than mine, he has red dots and bumps all over his body constantly, meanwhile I only flare up if my hands get too dry, then I break out into hives or if I get certain skin products or makeup on my face, I will turn red and burn. That's one of my fears if we ever have children, it's that we'll pass on our sensitive skin conditions down to our kid(s). I'm scared that if we have kids, we'll bring them lots of pain and suffering through having sensitive skin. I'm glad your family has been doing okay with dealing with your kids' asthma. It makes me hopeful that if we ever do have kids, that we can get through it maybe

My family also had the "luck" to catch covid at the same time, all of us. How it happened, it's really a mystery. That aside thought, it was really scary. In the beginning we were like "it must be the flu, can't be covid because we were careful". But we all felt worse and worse, we called the number we were supposed to and they came to test us, surprise we were all sick with it. We mildly panicked. Nobody could go out for food or meds. We had food in the pantry and some meds, but would they be enough? And us humans, we could've baked bread every day and survive off if, but what about my beardie? I had a colony of bugs going but... were something to happen and all of them die, I simply couldn't get more... Everyday I woke up feeling horrible, I couldn't eat and my nose was like a broken pipe constantly, but the worry was killing me slowly. Some days into our lockdown, the police started to check on us, to make sure we were staying home and not spreading it. But a pleasant surprise was that they also were asking if we needed anything. That eased our worry a bit, but those were a couple of really miserable weeks. I had a hard time thinking and focusing on top of it and was during my exam season. They were all online and somehow I managed to get high grades (even if I don't remember how) thankfully. My parents still feel some symptoms, months after. Me, I got some muscle pains since then that won't go away. From all my heart, please stay safe. My family was lucky, none of us died. But plenty of my neighbors did, sadly.

Dude that covid fatigue is real. I'm sorry you had to go through it yourself... It must have been so stressful especially with the little guys. Being an adult and dealing with a mild case going through my family sucked. My bro caught it and I caught it from him. Thank all the powers that be that it didn't hit my immune compromised parents. My bro came home from a shift at work with a fever, then it spiraled from there into chills, mild congestion, he lost smell and taste (and it was gone for 3 months) after a few days he developed a weird cough. I got it from him a week later... Mine started with extream congestion behind my eye, mild fever, chills, ache and fatigue. The cough came once my fever left and at one point it was so bad I burst a capillary behind my eye and had a drifter for a long time. I didn't lose my taste like he did, he didn't have the fatigue like me. I was down for the count for a solid month, it took me another month to be back to my usual energy level. I'm just so thankful we had mild symptoms and we had a plan in place to isolate. Covid is no joke. Even the mild versions will kick your tush!
