Thinking about buying and using a 6.0 Powerstroke as a daily? Hopefully you find this useful. Check out a few of my other videos. Instagram: @allhail6.0
Exactly. And I'm not necessarily saying that 6.0s are bad just not my cup of tea I know a lot of people that had bad luck with them. It's just personal preference I guess
I daily my 05 Excursion, 6L. Love it. Never had any problems, everyone LOVES a minty diesel Ex. Best I've gotten has been 11.2L / 100kms doing 110km/hr. She's hard on fuel in the city pretty good on the hwy for a truck over 8000lbs.
Got a 2006 6.0 just to replace a work truck love this truck just a little more each day does everything I need for work and makes old dad look almost cool again
Love the truck, love the videos. I have a late 04 with the 6.0 in it and love driving it as well. That turbo whine and the 6.0 sound. Keep up the good work. I live in Michigan also and feel your pain with the cold Winters but my truck always starts without a problem.
I daily drive mine about 60 mile round trip, and love it. Have had it 4 years, it is an 06 with 150,000 miles, SCT X4 tuned, FICM tuned, straight pipe, leveled on 35s, (not studded). Loving it. Studs are going to happen soon, just in case, then I will be doing the intake, new oil cooler, and maybe a Powermax turbo with Wicked Wheel.
The only issue I have had so far is a hot no start issue a while back. The truck would start fine cold, and if you let it cool off for about 15 min, but would not start hot. So I changed out the ICP sensor, the IPR valve, then finally the updated SCT fitting, and that fixed it. Since then no issues. Love the truck.
Just recently I picked up a 1-owner, garage kept, old man driven, 2003 f-250 crew cab King Ranch. With only 106,000 miles and at a price of 12,500 I freakin stole it, the only thing is that it is still bone stock, still runs great. Fortunately after paying and extra $2,000, the dealership was able to give me a warranty to cover a bullet proofing down the road, I’m very happy with it and even with nothing, it sounds great!
@@bangurowned turns out I got a bad deal, some laws changed in our state with regards to the bulletproofing kits and that coverage I bought turned out to be bull crap. I had to dump the truck cause at that time I was going through a divorce and didn't have the money to fix it, but If I did I would have, it was a great truck! My recommendation is just to save up the money to bulletproof it yourself, it's worth it.
Thanks so much for doing this video. I had a question about the gages you have on the front drivers side front door / windshield column? Is that stock or an upgraded gage system? If it’s upgraded let me know where it came from please.
Not sure if it's been mentionedbut Inovative Diesel has that pilot injection tune that is supposed to be awesome. They set it at 1000rpm's so while it's idling it actually quiets it down quite a bit.
For all the folks arguing that you don't need to shut your truck off in a drive through, for someone who's had to work the drive through before diesels are DEAFENING through that headset. Also the intercom is super sensitive so when you tell your wife that the person working the window is a dumbass when ordering your food, just know they can hear you. Make sure to whisper lol
Hell ya you drive like I do. That's for showing us the power haha. Some reviews they just cruise really slow can't even hear the engine all I hear is them talking
do an egr delete for 95 a coolant filter kit for 100 and upgrade the oiler cooler 130 last do a arp head stud kit and gaskets for 600 a tuner for 500 exhaust for 500 to 700 do the work yourself and it's a good truck.
damn only 170k miles, you take care of that thing and youll get a lot more man. My dads truck has about 280k on it right now and its towed and worked its whole life.
No need to cycle glow plugs, glow plugs stay on 2 minutes after keys on no matter what if anything don't cycle them wait a minute all last winter I really didn't plug my truck in even when it was -30 with the wind chill
I just bought an 04 for $2300 ,179000 miles. It's a rust bucket but drives like brand new. My first diesel, I love it. Hopefully never go back to gas ⛽
I really want a 6.0. But considering I can't afford one at this point in time, sense I'm 17 and I'm stuck with a 1998 f150 4.6 right now, it's probably gonna be at least 3-5 years and by then I may just want to go for a 6.7 but who knows. Still got time until I get to that point
trials_bike2000 ehhh I finally found someone that's in the same boat as me, but I got a 1999 Ford F-150 rust free, I wanna get like a older duramax, cummins or power stroke one without a converter on it so i can either put stacks or nice straight pipped with it passing emissions
I'd suggest a 6.7 buddy. I got my 6.0 with 100k miles which used to tow a camper. Within 6 months I had about $5k in repairs from wheel bearings (prev owner neglect) to HPOP and other oil parts. It's expensive to keep running. From what I've read you want a 2015+ 6.7 to avoid any of the first gen hiccups. Keep your pickup until it dies and just save up man. Nothing wrong with a vehicle that runs well.
Duane Wente are you joking? People still buy these 6.0s because of the problems the 6.7s have. And those 6.7s have problems that we haven't even seen yet it's just too early. You bulletproof that 6.0 that's a good truck
I plan on getting a 2 maybe 2.5 inch lift on my 05 and im gonna do true dual 4 in smoke stacks out the bed. Im also planning to do an egr delete if the truck im looking at doesnt akready have it. Guy bulletproofed the engine already and it has a new ipr system and has a new computer as well as other stuff. He wants to get 7500 but i think i can get it for 5k even. I plan to daily drive it as well, i also have to get a pillar gauge pod for it and a monitoring system for it. Im thinking of going with a banks setup. Not sure if the glowshift pillar pod will work for the banks gauges, kinda hoping they will cuz they have a tan one that matches the tan interior of the truck.
What's the difference between shutting your truck off in the drive through and shutting your truck off to go inside haha, either way you turn it off and turn it back on again
Bam1366 if you go inside, it's just one time where as a drive through would be off then on when ordering, and again at each window, and depending on the place that could be 3 times turning it off then on again within 5 minutes. Not horrible for the truck by any means, but doesn't do any good, just means the alternator has to replenish that battery power used to run the starter all three times
Bam1366 personally I would turn it off at the Windows, (well, I'd just go in but if I did do a drive through) at least when paying for the food. Just grabbing the food maybe not. But also depends on the situation and how loud the exhaust and engine is for each individual truck
Found a 2004 F250 king ranch with the 6.0. Has 140k miles and all original I think. I have not looked at it. What are some pointers? I plan on daily driving the truck.
I just bougjt a 6.0 got it today waiting on title so ive only drove it around the block but i absolutely love the sound got to get it tuned first thing
I’m from Florida but moved up to Michigan (Westland) two years ago. I had a ‘11 f150 with 6” fab tech and it rode pretty decent up here. Got a 06 6.0 with an 8” on 37s and it rides like complete shit up here with the roads here lol Upgrading shocks didn’t even help... any ideas on what I can do to make it ride any better? Thinkin about pro comp leafs they say they softer but not sure I believe it
I want a diesel I bought a truck I needed and put a lot of money into my 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 sport and I want to buy a diesel 2004 long box xlt and it’s deleted and bulletproofed but has some rust on bed what do you think they want $4000
500 miles to a tank. fack, I'm getting 425km in town if I'm lucky stock height and tires, 4'' straight pipe, stock air intake, no tuner, studded and deleted
I'm looking into a 6.0 but I live in the UK and there is one low mileage Amarillo for sale I'm going to look at, no idea what to do about parts however 😂
I noticed you have gages on the drivers side on the left window forward beam. Is this a Lariat? If not what type is it? What year is your truck? I am looking at purchasing a 2004 F350 and wondering if it’s reliable. Someone I know is selling it. All your help would be greatly appreciated.
If the owner took care of it... check for blow by. A little bit is fine with those kind of miles, but if its puffing out (not coming out in an even flow and it comes out stronger at one point) then stay away, it means you have or soon will have a compression skip (ie your block is trashed). another trick is to disconnect the starter wire along the passenger side of the engine bay and touch the tip of it to the positive bolt on the passenger battery and listen to the engine crank. Make sure the key is out of the ignition and the truck is off. The starter will crank the truck but it will not start. You want to hear an even sounding crank. If it sounds uneven or speeds up or slows down in one spot while its cranking, I would stay far far away from it because that means the block is worn.
If you just want a daily and don’t want to mod the shit out of it or try to get 500+ hp out of it go for it. They use different rods in the 99s and I believe into some of the 01s that hold power better.
Ethan Houllahan noticed your comment and was wondering the same thing. They sound so much more mean than a 7.3 (6.4 & 6.7) not even comparable. Has to be that early year manufactured turbo I'd imagine.
2003 6.0 has the loudest whistle due to the 10 blade turbine wheel in the turbo. Later 6.0s used an 11-blade wheel I think. They still whistle, just not as prominently.
Here's something funny. My 2009 Lexus RX 350 has the same sound as yours at cold start up.😁 ( Piston slap.) Obviously gone once it warms up. Man, was I excited when I heard that. Lol... Still looking for a 6.0 diesel.
I know this is an old comment, but it sounds like your rear drive shaft's slip joint splines need to be greased. I hunted for this on my truck for 3 years.. $40 of ford'd driveshaft grease fixed it 100%. The joint binds up the releases. It needs to be one about every 60k miles.
I’m thinking about buying a 2005 f350 super duty, can anyone tell me what kind of mods I can get, and it says gas but I thought it was diesel. I’ve only had dodge trucks so I don’t know anything about fords. If anyone could help me that’d be great
It will have a rectangular powerstroke emblem on the front doors if its diesel and under the hood in red lettering right in the middle it will say powerstroke turbo diesel. As far as mods goes, it depends on what you're going to use it for.
Lee Izaak Shouldn't have to bulletproof am engine for it to last. Yea it sounds better duh but it's a money pit my friend has one and no it wasn't a lemon be for you ask.
I'm Zoid i been having one bro!bulletproofed deleted etc no problems!!220k and only replaced minor bs as any truck needs!!not a money pit if u do it the right way!!sounds better than any diesel and the mother fuckers ain’t slow!ima keep this truck that’s a promise!
Hola amigo, esq las camionetas tienen muchos problemas en los alredesores del motor como el enfriador del motor y partes q salen caras. Son buenas camionetas pero se tiene q invertir un dinero para hacerlas confiables
Average City boy thinking his 6.0 is cool. You wanna see a cool truck look at my 7.3 f350 1999 early model lifted 4 and a half inches straight piped on 40s and a ass load of banks etc upgrades.
Finna break yo head gaskets loose, blow da heads clean off bruh gooney tunes n all dat 🖖🏿 get the fucking tires balanced so you can put the windows down 🤣
Powerjokes! Are a headache I’m a ford diesel tech! They all have tons of problems. I drive an 06 duramax best truck built in my opinion. If powerstroke weren’t such pieces of shit I wouldn’t have a job!
ZOSICKS We had 8 of them in our company all junk , our cost average $3000 / month keeping them running , we had one duramax in the fleet with 500000kms only replaced tires brakes and one lifter pump 👍
since you are a diesel tech i am looking at an 08 duramax but a friend told me he tuned his duramax with efi live and the tranny did not last 500 miles is that true i know they allison is the best tranny but people say they wont hold up if you tune them what is you opinion thanks
